Better idea. Hire Althouse as the flyover person who makes charming (and biting) comments from Madison. Spice up Greta's show. Badger fight. Create controversy. Althouse as the Devil's Advocate; remotely, of course. Who would leave Madison? Fox did it for Palin, so why not. And we know Ann reads the NYT and WaPo. New Yorker too.
I repeat what I said in another thread. Ailes is gone and why was Megyn Kelly the reasonably powerful woman on that network wearing all that makeup and that tank top on convention night, Wednesday?
One problem w/ less makeup is that a lot of these gals are up there in years. Not that they're HRC-old, but they are old enough that they don't want to look their ages.
I guess there may be a way to load up age hiding makeup w/o looking like you've load up makeup.
It's probably easier to just replace these gals when they hit expiration.
Paragraph from the the "Fox News is dying" article.
Donald Trump is leading the Republican primary because he understands who the Fox News viewers are and what they want to hear. Trump is running on a platform that is designed to capture the votes of the Fox News crowd. The fact that Donald Trump is flourishing as Fox News is aging is not a coincidence.
ie it's really hard for Trump to expand his base beyond his core birther lemmings. Trump's through the roof unfavorables notwithstanding. I digress.
PBandJ_LeDouanier said...Copying Melania's look isn't the thing Fox should learn from Trump.
The better lesson is to note that Trump ditches gals when they're too old.
Who said anything about copying Melanie's look?
I anticipated you bringing up Trump's ditching of women. I've long believed -- ever since he announced -- that this is the major reason why Trump repels women. To date, I've seen no frank discussion of this. Nor have I seen a discussion of Hillary's man problem which is based on her overt asexuality among other things.
Why do we need to see the person who's reading the news? Why not listen to information and commentary while watching world class pole dancers plying their trade? The technology already exists.
Megyn Kelly and Shannon Bream are overdone on the glam - and the voices.
Maria Bartiromo I wish would use a little make-up and color and relax to be herself the way she is when visiting on other shows. What she is talking about is way over my head, but I have always liked her. It is possible to be both intelligent and likeable.
(Way over my head, but I used to watch Louis Rukeyser's show, and whatever, but the young ladies had to hold their own against successful male financiers twice their age and seemed to do so quite well.)
I really botched my reading of Althouse's post. She wrote Ivanka, but I thought Melania.
Anywho, Switching from the current aging Fox gals to Ivanka type gals has way more to do with getting younger gals than anything else.
I don't know if Althouse conciously realizes that the Ivanka's advantage has nothing to do w/ style or presentation. Ivanka is younger than the old Fox gals who are pretending to be young.
shilho wrote: it's really hard for Trump to expand his base beyond his core birther lemmings. Trump's through the roof unfavorables notwithstanding. I digress.
meanwhile, Dems have pandered so hard and extensively to the fringe that they felt compelled to name Kaine shore up the traditional middle. The modern Democrat party is an old, hollowed-out shell. Hillary personifies it perfectly.
News? It's all just White People reporting on White People Shit. White People Shit, every fucking day. You hear anything about Black Lives Matter? You hear it from a White Person. And what do you hear? You hear how it affects White People...
You White People: you WANT Blacks rioting in the streets, it's entertaining to you as you sit safe in your fucking White Suburban house, with your White Chevy Suburban in the driveway, where you ain't afraid to call those rioting blacks Monkeys. Look at those Monkeys, burning their own neighborhood and shit! Then you go on the Internet and bitch about us stupid Black People rioting before watching some Funny Cat Video that six-million White People have watched...
And don't get me going on those female newscasters: White Women that White Men want to Fuck. It's always about You, White People, what you want and what you want to hear about and who you want to hear it from. Heaven forbid an Angry Black man sets you straight...
@Shilho: Count up the total number of primary votes for Trump and compare them to the number of primary votes for Hillary. Then you will understand why Trump seeks Bernie voters and why Hillary is stupid to have raised Kaine.
Do conservatives actually prefer that look? Personally I prefer more a more natural appearance -- especially the hair! -- you see on the more liberal sites. Katie Tur as a good example.
@shilho: Face it -- there is nothing that you can say to polish Hillary. She has to do this herself. You should consider switching to anti-Trump 24/7 and quit digging your hole.
The Clintons are as much outsiders in the Democratic Party as Trump is with the Republicans. We are just used to seeing the Clintons around for 25 years, while Trump is a brand new phenomenon.
Hillary! is Sec-Treas and chief legal counsel for Clinton, Inc. and the Democratic Party is where they do business.
What Trump is up to, we will have to wait and see, but the Clintons we know.
I hope they do tone down the anchor babes. Laura Ingraham, Katherine harridge, Dana always hit the bullseye. I noticed last night that Megyn was wearing a distinctly Ivanka neckline. The trouble with the excessive focus on "looking hot" is symptomatic of a cult of the body that is very of the moment. Every nrewscast is using the full body shot, and the clothes, even for male reporters, is really body conscious. I'm old school, and cop to a longstanding prejudice against taking seriously people who spend inordinate amounts of time on themselves, and appear to be inordinately preoccupied with the preeminence of physical appearance beyond meticulous good grooming. I have the same problem with joe Biden and john Kerry...I can't even look at them without thinking about all the enhancements and plastic surgeries. Blech
I don't think they would be putting down the Fox women if Fox was a liberal network which they might become with the ouster of Roger Ailes, We'll see. Just what we need another liberal network.
Not a chance in hell as Fox News knows where its bread is buttered. Plus most liberals don't waste their time watching lib echo chambers like MSNBC, let alone a con echo chamber like FN.
There were clear cracks in that guy's logic. The most obvious was where he claimed that Rs and Ds appoint the same type of Justices. I'm sure he could have reworked that statement to be less obviously a lie.
The truth of the matter is that all of the on-air talent at Fox is way superior to that of CNN and MSNBC. The MSNBC people are just political hacks and not very smart either. Chris Hayes is a joke. Maddow won a Rhodes but it doesn't show, CNN is full of dunces. Jake Tapper is the only decent one.
@David: I do not know why they do not use her more.
Perino is too objective for most of their opinionated shows and she is also not very expressive -- has trouble sometimes with quick talk, not quick on her feet sometimes..But I do like her.
It seems to me that newsbabes should at least dress appropriately for the time of day. Decolletage in the morning isn't appropriate. As Mammy in GWTW would say, "It ain't fittin'. It jes ain't fittin'!"
Laslo is the one who needs to do the show's makeover.
I'd pay to watch pony-tail-girl on the treadmill.
The gym is full of them. Time your workouts to coincide with the women's Zumba, yoga, or kick-boxing classes. Yoga pants and tight tops are great motivators.
There are NO hot men on the news other than maybe Lester Holt. And though I might enjoy seeing him in his underwear, I can't imagine him reporting the news that way.
obviously, prof ann, like the washington post writers who wrote the foxnews piece, are not foxnews regular viewers.
they are not all blondes anymore! harris faulkner, kennedy, abby huntsman, andrea tantaros (on a leave of absence), ebony williams, stacey dash, michelle fields (before she was removed), julie roginsky, maria bartiromo, jebediah bila.
When does Guilfoyle do news, other than pinch-hitting? She does the Is It Legal? sections on O'Reilly and The Five, where she has the "legs chair," and indeed we see that Guilfoyle has legs - lots of legs - but these are talk shows, not news.
If we're being honest, content aside, Fox News has always been the Hooters of television news. It's been a big part of their marketing plan from day one.
A vote for Harris Faulkner. First off, she is an amazing journalist. I don't think there is a better show anchor/moderator to keep the conversations fair and moving forward. She is always grounded and will sometimes surprise you with her perspective… Whatever the show she does on Sunday eve that has the Dem and the GOP is great! She knows how to balance things.. Harris Faulknew is the A+ gold standard.
Faulkner is also absolutely beautiful in a classic and classy way. And by that I mean she is not going for "hot" which is a distraction and thus non-professional for a journalist. Megyn Kelly used to be more pleasing until she decided to turn into Sly Stallone's german girlfriend Brigitte Nielsen. Kelly looks absolutely ridiculous and I keep waiting for her to pull out a gun.
But what do I know? I cut my cable cord last week for good. Not going back. Who needs some network filter when there is a big world of twitter, blogs, podcasts and Periscope out there? Think about this when you read Hillary is outspending Trump by a wide margin…I suspect she is flushing her money (and by that I mean the blood money she sold influence for) down a rathole.
I'll be spending my money on real journalism that adds to our understanding, not based on who is hot and who is not.
Right opinions plus right dress = TV success. Roger Ailes understood that but so do the others. There's plenty of ideas, discussions, data elsewhere, we don't have to require information or understanding from TV people. In fact I think that the monetary rewards for the right public persona in the media circle are now so enormous that protecting and furthering that persona becomes a limit on the person. It's like Marie Antoinette's towering hairdos. That sort of thing takes time, it takes money and it requires a certain kind of public event, hence a certain kind of public. Then, the bubble forms. From it on a string of lies depends another bubble, the powerful of today. Outside both bubbles the peasants gibber.
I'm guessing the Stepford Wives uniformity of Fox News Babes--bleached blonde helmet hair, heavy makeup--is a reflection of the feminine look Aisles personally fancies.
I thought the Fox babe thing was an effort to mimic the female newsreaders in Italy and Spain who I first saw in the nineties. At the time the extreme short skirts, cleavage, high-heels, see-through desks etc. seemed so bizarre and over the top.
FOX lost me when they fired Andrea Tantaros. I liked her for her family story and her razor tongue. The legs and the semi-kinky shoes and the doe eyes and dark wavy hair had nothing to do with it. No Really. Not a thing. Promise.

Impressed with Tim Kaine, the man is not boring as I originally thought. He's an excellent speaker and has the social justice chops progressives will like. Good roll out and introduction, the crowd loved him. He's a natural speaker, has a conversational style and knows where to put an emphasis. I think Clinton made a wise choice with this guy.
Ivanka's style looks to me simply patterned after the less gaudy makeup/hair approach common in parts of Europe..saw a lot of that in Paris. Whenever I returned, I wasn't sure if the American style was a style or more like kids playing with the face painting. What inspires Dad's orange skin with ducktail hair is unclear. Sort of Malibu Fonz.
Kaine switched into Spanish for a minute or two . That highlights that he is for a bi-lingual America. That immediately disables Native English speakers unless they have a trusted interpreter, which is as rude as it gets. It is a basic hostile act intended as such.
It is one thing to be treated badly by the French for speaking English in France, but why do Dems insist on treating Americans badly for using English here?

""It is one thing to be treated badly by the French for speaking English in France, ..."
You think you're treated badly for speaking English, try speaking French!"
I think that's right on. I never utter a word of French over there. Not even a single "merci." And, I never feel snubbed in any way. OTOH, I have a friend who is extremely capable, close to fluent, who says that she sometimes finds French folks who are annoyed by her, as an American (though she was born in Canada), speaking French.
"Actually, the WSJ blather heads on FNC said he did really well."
Total dichotomy from TrumpPence roll-out where Trump spoke about himself, whereas Hillary spoke about Kaine and Kaine spoke about America's better angels.
Maybe a WV local supposed to help her in coal country.
"How you could say you are going to put a lot of coal miners out of jobs, and then come in here and tell us how you’re going to be our friend?" unemployed coal worker Bo Copely asked Clinton at a campaign event on May 2.
Clinton acknowledged that she said something to that effect, but she also apologized.
"I don't know how to explain it other than what I said was totally out of context for what I meant because I have been talking about helping coal country for a very long time,"
-- Ah..putting miners out of work vs helping coal country. How Clintonian.
A distinct contrast with the Pence roll out which was glitchy and uncertain. Optimism was featured as opposed to the dark gloomy America Trump presents. No one claimed that they "alone" could right all the wrongs.
"Al Gore had a better political tail wind in his favor in 2000. Don't get cocky son."
Gore was a train wreck and still won the popular vote. Not cocky, just reality.
Bush43 had a well-oiled campaign team ie Bush41's political machine which included some of Reagan's troops.
Trump, the train wreck is running like he doesn't care ie he never thought he would make it this far 'cause he didn't think the Rep party was this stupid!
>
The political campaign adds pretty much write themselves ie everything Trump's opponents said about him in the primaries. And Trump personal quotes going back (30) years.
Did I mention Trump never thought he would make it this far.
Maybe the new rule should be. All on-the-air personalities are limited to two minutes when it comes to applying makeup. Also no fake eyelashes, lipstick, painted nails, fly-away bird-wing eye brows, and never never never mascara.
"A distinct contrast with the Pence roll out which was glitchy and uncertain. Optimism was featured as opposed to the dark gloomy America Trump presents. No one claimed that they "alone" could right all the wrongs."
Maybe tomorrow Kaine will have more of a Pence situation. Maybe he'll sit behind HRC while she talks about reports that claim Bernie's father had bagels and lox w/ Hitler.
Trump will get bogged down in more fights with his past opponents instead of staying on message and furthering his agenda. What has Trump done for the past two days? Trying to get revenge on Cruz and Kasich for them snubbing him. What should be more important after the boost he got from the convention, take advantage of the momentum, or fight with those who hurt your feelings? The guy acts like someone with the emotional maturity of a teenager.
In the meantime Clinton and Kaine will get on with the process of getting elected.
I had to chuckle ( truthfully I guffawed) when Trump air kissed Pence at the convention. The look on Pence's face was priceless. Trump can't put the show biz antics behind him for a minute.... air kisses. Well at least he hasn't adopted his buddy Putin's Russian tradition of kissing for real.
Blogger Anonymous said.. Optimism was featured as opposed to the dark gloomy America Trump presents. -- "Dark!" Like an opposition candidate to a participant who played a high role in an 8yr administration is going to suggest "business" as usual. Yes.."Make America Great again" or "We're going to win bigly" could only feel dark and lacking optimism to a certain mindset.
America is still great. You can thank Obama for that, he rescued us from the brink of financial disaster, thanks to Bush. It'll take many more years to erase what Bush wrought.
Ivanka the mother? Ivanka the businesswoman? Ivanka the wife? Ivanka the public speaker? Ivanka the model? She could be. She has a universal appeal in all of her roles.
Actually, Bush stabilized the financial sector wrecked by Democrat interests with the help of a Republican minority. Obama doubled down on liberal fiscal policies and devalued capital and labor with progressive debt. It's a forward play on Kennedy's sending an American to the moon.
"Anonymous", "BenjaminFranklin", "Fanniefarmer", "FranDresher", "Franciscan", "FranklinRoos", "Unknown"... another day, another sockpuppet, same FUD. What's the point?
In October 2008, Congress created a $700 billion emergency bailout fund called the Troubled Asset Relief Program, or TARP, to rescue banks in response to the subprime mortgage crisis.
President George W. Bush pressed for passage, and it also drew the support of GOP presidential nominee John McCain and the Democratic nominee, Barack Obama.
The Club for Growth cited three statements by Trump in support of the bailout. However, the ad omits that he expressed some skepticism about whether it would work.
On Sept. 30, 2008, CNN’s Kiran Chetry asked Trump about the bailout days before its final passage. The ad includes this segment of that interview:
Chetry: "Do you think that this bailout plan needs to pass in some way, shape or form for things to stabilize?"
Trump replied: "Well, I think it would be better if it passed."
But the ad omits the rest of Trump’s statement in which he expressed some doubt about the bailout:
"I'm not sure that it's going to work. You know, it is trial and error. This is very complicated. This is more complicated than sending rockets to the moon.
Nobody really knows what impact it's going to have. Maybe it works, and maybe it doesn't. But certainly it is worth a shot.
But I think overall, it's a probable positive, other than you have to control the price of oil. Because if you don't, whatever happens with the bailout, if you want to call it the bailout, whatever happens with the bailout, is will have no impact, no positive impact."
On Larry King Live on April 15, 2009, King asked Trump his opinion of Obama and Trump turned to the bailout in part of his answer:
"I do agree with what they're doing with the banks. Whether they fund them or nationalize them, it doesn't matter, but you have to keep the banks going," Trump said.
On Feb. 18, 2009, Trump talked about the bank bailout on David Letterman:
"The one thing is, the government came in and intelligently put money into the banks, so that if you have your money in CDs or whatever in the banks, you’re not going to lose your money at least.""
"Kaine is fluent in Spanish, having served with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps in Honduras. In fact, he discussed an immigration bill on the floor of the U.S. Senate entirely in Spanish,"
I wonder if what was about "immigration" or..you know..the "undocumented".
Paco, what is YOUR point? Do come here to stalk other commenters or do you come here to discuss issues? Do you think you intimidate me somehow? No you don't, it only makes me wonder why it matters so much to you.
The best show on television is C-Span's Q&A. Host Brian Lamb is a partisan Democrat but sometimes avoids abusing his forum to score cheap political points.
When he stepped down from running the channel a few years ago, some news babes were added to the host lineup.
I asked first. Your buddies Shiloh & PB&J manage to spew their talking points while keeping the same persona. You feel compelled to pretend you're different people. Just wondering why, is all.
And LOL at the idea that reposting boilerplate talking points and propaganda counts in any way as "discussion". Well, maybe for someone like you it does.
Paco, I don't give a rats ass what other commenters call themselves. I do care about the issues. Again I wonder why you would even take the time to comment on other commenters user names. I comment on several blogs, what user name I choose to use at the moment should really be of no concern to you. That is seems of such importance to you makes you appear odd and overly interested in other commenters identities. Do you often stalk others?
Yes, clearly the one and only network that's completely killing its competitors needs to change. Yea, that makes sense... if you want them to stop winning.
@anonymous at 3:53: Part of Paco's point may be that character change and sock-puppetry should not be so transparent. I've never indulged, but I can imagine it to be an art form akin to acting wherein the puppetmaster convincingly assumes multiple characters without detection. Doing it poorly assaults an aesthetic sensibility.
Also, you do happen to resemble a former commenter named Inga who was (in my opinion, unfairly) chased from here. That may or may not be your fault, but we'll never know. People who comment here became familiar with other commenters' view and opinions. It's almost like you're trying to wreck that. Just my $0.02
"Kaine was very smooth. A way better speaker than Hillary."
His career accomplishments are also way better than Clinton's. In fact, if you were to take the top 17 Democrats in the DNC, Clinton's CV would be the least impressive. The others would also interview as trustworthy. Unlike Clinton.
"Doing it poorly assaults an aesthetic sensibility."
Absolutely. I'm just trying to spur our local sockpuppets to greater heights. Just put a little more effort into it!
...and speaking of the trolling art, I remember almost with fondness the Original Titus, who created an entire new Blogspot account for every comment. There truly was a God among trolls.
Former commenters and the way they interacted with others here is of no concern to me. I find it odd and a banal waste of time to try to "out" other commenters. I don't care who you are, why anyone would care who I am is a bit nutty. No issues of the day interesting enough? Now for the love of God, can we get back to discussing matters that affect the way we Americans are affected by the issues of the day and the leaders who would either help or hurt us? Or maybe even the subject matter of this blog post? I do plead guilty to being off topic.
Whether a notion or idea comes from an established commenter or a "troll" or "MOBY!", What difference at this point does it make?" There is always the option to ignore a comment. Yes..err..one of teh "anonymous" this identity outing is truly a banal wast of space.
It appears that Paco is trying to deflect from the great rollout of Clnton's VP, Kaine. I guess if this is his purpose, it's understandable, but still a stupid way of deflecting from the fact that Kaine is making a very good impression with not only liberals, but moderates too. Clinton probably knew she would piss off some progressives with her choice, but I think she's going to get an even greater benefit by drawing in NeverTrumpers and moderates.
I don't really care who's who, but I did spend an evening last night chuckling at Wikileak's proof that Hillary pays young people to fight for her online and on blogs.
"Paco is trying to deflect from the great rollout of Clnton's VP, Kaine"
Trust me, Commenter Of A Thousand Faces, I don't think that I, a mere infrequent commenter on Althouse, have the power to add to or detract from Kaine's or Clinton's wonderfulness. The earnestness with which you approach your Great Commission – Must defeat evil righties! All for the Blue Tribe! – is truly a thing of amusement to this old cynic.
Anonymous finished his shift, I'm here to start the 2nd shift. We here at the DNC headquarters are thrilled with the Kaine introduction today! What a contrast with the rollout of Pence.

No fear, Anon #THX1138. Done and done. That said, is it your wish to speak unopposed here, rather than to interact? You can, in fact, pretty much do that. But what I think you may need is some software that will help you do it faster. That would increase your productivity, and perhaps your pay, depending on how much capitalism your Masters can bear.
However I think we can all agree that the mask is off of you. It really doesn't matter the name of the orc once you know it's an orc.
If you try hard enough you can ruin the blog. The hostess has no tools to oppose you. Probably you could drive everybody else off the blog entirely. Ann will understand about taking one for the team.
I believe those who wish to "ruin the blog" are not people who want to remain anonymous or unknown, it is people who try to "out" other commenters who desire that their identity remain private. Blogger allows for this and Althouse does not discourage it. It is the continuous distraction away from the discussion at hand to the identity of other commenters is what brings down the IQ of the thread and bogs it down. I'm quite certain Althouse does not for a moment believe that anonymous/ unknown commenters have any agenda to "ruin her blog". The opposite is true, if her blog were not interesting and well known, WE would not be here.
Also "Unknown", if the comments of those who have a different opinion or outlook to yours drives you off a blog, it doesn't speak well for you. In fact I'd say they you were cowardly and unable to engage in an exchange of ideas, but instead are more interested belonging to an echo chamber. Man up. Grow a pair.
Everyone here who thinks Kane is such a neat pick should know that he has palled around with a lot of Muslim Brotherhood jihadists, even appointing one to head Virginias State Immigration Commission, for chrissake. SEE
Shut up Unknown. (Nice switch from Anonymous, BTW; classy.) If you just post thousands of spams to every thread, for which they have software, regular people will leave.
Foreign Policy Mr. Kaine, who sits on the Senate’s Foreign Relations and Armed Services Committees, backed the Iran nuclear deal and the normalization of relations with Cuba. He has argued that Mr. Obama must seek authorization from Congress to carry out airstrikes against the Islamic State. And he has called for the establishment of safe zones in Syria to protect civilians.
Tim Kaine's son is a US Marine officer, you seriously think Kaine had some secret ties to jihadists?
Feel free to leave "Unknown". Your contribution to the thread so far has been blah blah blah, "wow!" Impressive. Goodbye and don't let the door hit ya in the ass on the way out.
Anonymous, as far as Obama rescuing us from the "brink of financial disaster," yes he did with a stimulus package paid for by the working citizens of a America. What a deal. I think most of us would rather have our money back.
Urban Dictionary says: One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument.

Troll. Yes, that describes Jon Ericson to a T. When he appears any semblance of normal discussion screeches to a halt. His behavior does more to harm the Althouse blog than any liberal commenter's presence could possibly do.
What started as a perfectly pleasant conversation about news babes now has double the posts by DNC operatives and miscellaneous trolls. KIMBERLY GUILFOYLE, people! If we can't agree on KG, we have jumped the shark as a nation. This election cannot be over soon enough.
I don't watch TV so I don't know who Kimberly Guilfoyle is or what she looks like. Why don't you post some attractive pictures so we can judge for ourselves?
That picture doesn't do her justice, narciso, but there are plenty out there. I love her smarts and personality. She was a Victoria's Secret model before her law career, you can find plenty of those as well.
I was going for relatively demure pics, there are others of course, now NewsCorps feckless heirs throwing Ailes under the bus, is a little more disturbing,
Please stop accusing each other of being trolls and talking about trolling. I don't want to take the trouble to delete over this, but it is boring and distracting. It's not what the comments section is for. If you don't like what someone else is saying, say something that IS worth saying. Don't go back and forth.
Yes, Mam, I guess you don't need the money. It must be costing you credibility with your homies, for you to make these statements. Imagine being out of line with the UW shit-slingers/stirrers. Wouldn't want to miss out on those midwestern equivalents of "cocktail parties". Feh.
If you don't like what someone else is saying, say something that IS worth saying. Don't go back and forth.
It's entirely newsworthy that Hillary Clinton's campaign has been accused of hiring internet commenter (trolls) to infest blog comments. You may choose to disbelieve this and you might even approve of it because it drives your traffic. But it's political spam, Althouse. You delete cluttering spam so why the double standard? On the other hand, commenters like Jon Ericson do a pretty good job of shaming in a humorous way.
Not to mention what will happen if there are a thousand or 10000 posts by Anonymous and HeideCruise and FranklinDoof on every single thread. At the very least you'd have to put moderation back on. And you know that's not a really good answer. We users can resort to some kind of kill file technology but again, I'm not sure what that does to your environment. You do realize that we are on your side, yes?
Trolls and mobys destroy blog. Nobody likes to wade through waste and cut-and-paste comments. You should sue Hillary and the DNC for sending them around without compensation.

It's not just fox news. All the local weather females wear sexy cocktail dresses. Why?
Interesting.
I will make the argument that the Fox female newscasters' visual cues are akin to 80's-era IVANA Trump.
Make-up, hair, earrings: Ivana.
Time for Ivanka, really.

It's a generic problem and not FOX specific. They are not flocking to CNN or MSNBC.
"They are not flocking to CNN or MSNBC."
True, they're just dying ... as mentioned!
Jelly wrote: It's probably easier to just replace these gals when they hit expiration.
That's like the globalist business model currently under attack by Trump.
Copying Melania's look isn't the thing Fox should learn from Trump.
The better lesson is to note that Trump ditches gals when they're too old.
I digress.
Keep hope alive!
I won't be satisfied until the Fox infobabes are all wearing tube tops and cut-offs.
Yeah, that's it: bring back Andrea Tantaros in a tube top!
Laslo is the one who needs to do the show's makeover.
I'd pay to watch pony-tail-girl on the treadmill.
I keep reading that talking heads reading the teleprompter are obsolete, yet...
My husband never seems interested in watching the weather when the local meteorologist is on. He only cares when the lovely assistant is filling in.
She could be Laslo's pony-tail girl when she's in the gym but she always has a nice dress on camera, which is what I notice.
Personal lubricant on the lens will deal with the age problem.
It's not just fox news. All the local weather females wear sexy cocktail dresses. Why?
Tits. Hips. Ass. The traditional weather girl, anyway. Short dress if she bends over.
We've come a long way from Tex Antoine, baby. I forget what remark he got fired for but it was the beginning of the feminization of everything.

Oh, hush.
Fox is kicking ass. Why would they change their look?
Why do we need to see the person who's reading the news?
Why not listen to information and commentary while watching world class pole dancers plying their trade?
The technology already exists.
Megyn Kelly and Shannon Bream are overdone on the glam - and the voices.
Maria Bartiromo I wish would use a little make-up and color and relax to be herself the way she is when visiting on other shows. What she is talking about is way over my head, but I have always liked her. It is possible to be both intelligent and likeable.
(Way over my head, but I used to watch Louis Rukeyser's show, and whatever, but the young ladies had to hold their own against successful male financiers twice their age and seemed to do so quite well.)
chick,
I really botched my reading of Althouse's post.
"Fox is kicking ass. Why would they change their look?"
True, much like WWE Raw. Although WWE's ratings are higher.
As always, the key is knowing your core audience and always keeping them happy!
This is not rocket science!

meanwhile, Dems have pandered so hard and extensively to the fringe that they felt compelled to name Kaine shore up the traditional middle. The modern Democrat party is an old, hollowed-out shell. Hillary personifies it perfectly.
Lamar Gonna Set You Straight....
You think you got Problems? Fuck You.
I am Laslo.
Like I wrote above. Laslo as Lamar would skyrocket ratings. Rupert wants Laso's number.

As they keep winning presidential elections w/their key demo: increasing minority voters ie Black/Latino/Asian/LGBT/Jewish, women, younger/college.
Whereas Reps still seem to do well w/older voters. Go figure!
Damn, I just refuted er refudiated chicky's nonsense.
@Shilho: Count up the total number of primary votes for Trump and compare them to the number of primary votes for Hillary. Then you will understand why Trump seeks Bernie voters and why Hillary is stupid to have raised Kaine.
Whereas Reps still seem to do well w/older white voters. Go figure!
"Razing Kaine" is the modern equivalent of "harassarah"
Thought you were yielding back the balance of your time.
Do conservatives actually prefer that look? Personally I prefer more a more natural appearance -- especially the hair! -- you see on the more liberal sites. Katie Tur as a good example.

Repeating total primary votes is not indicative and never has been re: presidential election outcomes.
Also, v-p selections haven't had an effect since LBJ.

Also repeating ~ if the economy doesn't tank and Obama still has decent job approval ratings, Hillary wins.

We now return you to Fox News fuckable airhead babes!
What a horrible life Shiloh must have. How much pain he must be in!
Oh my, chicky is now resorting to personal insults er childish ad hominems after losing the debate.

Recapping: Republicans have foolishly nominated the one train wreck in the universe who can't defeat Hillary and it's driving them crazy!
I feel your pain!
Blech

"Dana Perino is always classy."
Also smart, fresh, beautiful and genuine. She has real experience in the ring as Bush's press secretary. I do not know why they do not use her more.
The idea that men need shiny objects to pay attention to the weather forecast strikes me as - lame.
I don't think they would be putting down the Fox women if Fox was a liberal network which they might become with the ouster of Roger Ailes, We'll see. Just what we need another liberal network.
"Just what we need another liberal network."
Not a chance in hell as Fox News knows where its bread is buttered. Plus most liberals don't waste their time watching lib echo chambers like MSNBC, let alone a con echo chamber like FN.
April,
There were clear cracks in that guy's logic. The most obvious was where he claimed that Rs and Ds appoint the same type of Justices. I'm sure he could have reworked that statement to be less obviously a lie.
Women used to be sex objects, but feminist activists changed all that. Lol.
Speaking of Fox, Megyn Kelly's dress Thursday night was both unprofessional and butt ugly. I hope that wasn't the new post-Ailes look.
The idea that men need shiny objects to pay attention to the weather forecast strikes me as - lame.
That's not where men get the weather.

"I'm expecting the discovery of the commercial value of newsbabe camel toe."
Isn't that so five years ago? I think folks have moved on to thigh gap.
Ann Coulter was in media row with a middrif revealing top. Armstring and Getty said it raised the question of when hotness ends for older women.
She's a hotellectual, they said, so it's permitted somewhat later.

There are NO hot men on the news other than maybe Lester Holt. And though I might enjoy seeing him in his underwear, I can't imagine him reporting the news that way.
obviously, prof ann, like the washington post writers who wrote the foxnews piece, are not foxnews regular viewers.
they are not all blondes anymore! harris faulkner, kennedy, abby huntsman, andrea tantaros (on a leave of absence), ebony williams, stacey dash, michelle fields (before she was removed), julie roginsky, maria bartiromo, jebediah bila.
i also have the hots for KG, kimberly guilfoyle.
i used to have the same feeling for julie banderas, but she fat now.
When does Guilfoyle do news, other than pinch-hitting?
She does the Is It Legal? sections on O'Reilly and The Five, where she has the "legs chair," and indeed we see that Guilfoyle has legs - lots of legs - but these are talk shows, not news.
"Kimberly G is my favorite news babe, and it's not even close."
Fat legs.
The FOX news I'm watching has very few blondes.
A news network with two Michelle Caruso Cabreras would be better than anything anyone else could slap together.
I doubt that the standards will change significantly with Murdoch in charge.
Promise.
And what David Begley said.

I think that's right on. I never utter a word of French over there. Not even a single "merci." And, I never feel snubbed in any way. OTOH, I have a friend who is extremely capable, close to fluent, who says that she sometimes finds French folks who are annoyed by her, as an American (though she was born in Canada), speaking French.

Sorry for the repost, fixed spelling errors.
"after the boost he got from the convention"
It remains to be seen whether he got any boost. Regardless convention "boosts" disappear after a week, at best.

"Dark!"
Like an opposition candidate to a participant who played a high role in an 8yr administration is going to suggest "business" as usual.

Actually, Bush stabilized the financial sector wrecked by Democrat interests with the help of a Republican minority. Obama doubled down on liberal fiscal policies and devalued capital and labor with progressive debt. It's a forward play on Kennedy's sending an American to the moon.

What is Trump's stance on the bank bailout?
http://www.politifact.com/florida/statements/2015/sep/15/club-growth/did-donald-trump-support-wall-street-bailout-club-/
Trump on the bailout

Chuck, you've changed! Well, not much.
The best show on television is C-Span's Q&A. Host Brian Lamb is a partisan Democrat but sometimes avoids abusing his forum to score cheap political points.
When he stepped down from running the channel a few years ago, some news babes were added to the host lineup.
"Paco, what is YOUR point?"

"I comment on several blogs,"
I'll bet you do. Maybe if you stuck to one you'd get better at it.
Paco, you are playing the part of troll here, not I.
You can thank Obama for that, he rescued us from the brink of financial disaster, thanks to Bush.
So Bush was responsible for the mortgage disaster? My my he was a powerful man.
I don't really care who's who, but I did spend an evening last night chuckling at Wikileak's proof that Hillary pays young people to fight for her online and on blogs.

Running on a treadmill in privacy of home not appealing to her, I'm betting.

Unknown, I wish you people would ignore me, but you seem to be doing the opposite. So I would suggest you proceed in your plans to ignore me, OK?

Althouse should try a week where she does not mention Trump or Hillary.
Give us gays.
Give us transsexual bathrooms.
Give us Tom and Lorenzo.
Give us Dylan Lyrics.
Give us Dylan lyrics about gays and bathrooms and fashion.
Please,
I am Laslo.
Unknown- it was a link on Reddit to Wikileaks. I'm sure you can find it, but I don't want to go to Wikileaks again.
Virgil,
WOW!
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/07/23/us/politics/tim-kaine-issues.html?_r=0
Foreign Policy
Mr.
Maybe they're not close. In fact, how do you know he's really his son?
Okay, maybe Kaine is just really stupid. Or was bribed or threatened so thoroughly that he would betray his own child.
Either way, his objective support of Islamofascism is clearly disqualifying to any rational mind, which to be sure excludes yours.
Man..this pissing match makes me miss Shouting Thomas. It's that bad.
Or The Crack Emcee.
Anonymous, as far as Obama rescuing us from the "brink of financial disaster," yes he did with a stimulus package paid for by the working citizens of a America. What a deal. I think most of us would rather have our money back.
Can we please bring the conversation back to Ivanka and pony-tail-girl?
"Unknown", that was laughable.
Tim Kaine and his family through the years.
Kaine calling Hil the "you're hired" candidate. That sounded really sincere and potent.
troll
Urban Dictionary says:
One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument.
The Free Dictionary says:
a. A person who posts inflammatory or otherwise unwanted material on an electronic forum, especially anonymously.
b. The material so posted.
Troll. Yes, that describes Jon Ericson to a T. When he appears any semblance of normal discussion screeches to a halt. His behavior does more to harm the Althouse blog than any liberal commenter's presence could possibly do.
Por favor, no alimentar a los trolls!!!
Pretty funny coming from you.
A funny troll.
Ha, Ha.

This is precisely your objective. Thanks for your candor.
Sorry, It spoke to me. ICK!
It goes back on killfile.
*Hangs head in shame*
Last one was me, Jon. --Arch
No problemo, Arch.
"Killfile Active" at the Chrome store sorts out the trolls from sincere posters, using the profile number.
Easy-Peasy!
By the way, Jon, who is that beast in your avatar picture?
Chelsea-Doody, a photoshop.
BTW, I think the makers of "Killfile Active" should change the name to "Arrividerci trolla"
My eyes...the goggles do nothing...
Bing it.
do I have do everything,

it was early on, that I realized gavin newsom was a fool,
That picture doesn't do her justice, narciso, but there are plenty out there. I love her smarts and personality. She was a Victoria's Secret model before her law career, you can find plenty of those as well.
I was going for relatively demure pics, there are others of course, now NewsCorps feckless heirs throwing Ailes under the bus, is a little more disturbing,
Here boys
many trolls even uruk hai's are obvious because it's the same spam, no matter if they are 'throat warbler mangrove or raymond luxury yacht,'
Oh and I did not intend to leave all that "white space" after my last comment. I know that bugs you, personally. I'm sorry.
The best tactic is to ignore the tr***s.
Trolls and mobys destroy blog. Nobody likes to wade through waste and cut-and-paste comments. You should sue Hillary and the DNC for sending them around without compensation.
