"I think this Barack Obama campaigning for Hillary is cover. She's going to get indicted."

"He knows she's going to get indicted. He'll be able to say, 'I didn't know. Why would I be campaigning for her?'"

Said Meade just now.

Here's the very nicely done video for Hillary that Obama just put out today:

ADDED: Does Drudge agree with Meade?

The red headline goes to The Weekly Standard: "WH Denies Endorsement Will Intimidate FBI Investigators/Obama meets privately with Loretta Lynch."

I was driving and heard the endorsement on the radio. It sounded insincere, esp the part where Obama said Hillary was "perhaps the most qualified person ever to be nominated" or something to that effect. It sounded like he knew it was BS but said it anyway. It made me laugh.

Maybe he really believes that but it was unconvincing and said without conviction, so to speak, via radio.

Sounds like E Klein should hurry up with his sequel to Blood Feud: The Clintons vs. the Obamas. For those of us who could not finish the book, Buzzfeed has a summary of some of the juiciest bits. https://www.buzzfeed.com/katherinemiller/bloooood-feuuuuuud?utm_term=.prJNod9n1#.erJB8MyYA
If the stuff in the book is even 40% accurate, then I could see BO throwing HC to the wolves (especially if VJ and MO really dislike Hillary as much as the book suggests and order BO to do it). The AJ may do what BO tells her to, but MO and VJ seem to have control over BO.

She will not be indicted.

Taking foreign donations through the Clinton Foundation, handing out favorable treatment to those donors, lining the personal Clinton bank accounts, and handling/hiding it on the bathroom server was done under Obama's watch.

She makes him look like a fool. It was Obama's State Department. He has to cover for her.

But Trump will do everything he can to blow that cover. Here...we...go...

Let's hope Trumps upcoming Clinton Corruption speech doesn't disappoint.

She's not going to be indicted. Why would Obama endorse her if he knows she'll be indicted when he could just as easily sit back and watch her twist in the wind? It'll make him look foolish to back a horse that has to jump out of the race, and does him no good. If he knows either way (and I don't know that he does, he may be walling himself off from this to avoid any involvement) then he knows there's no indictment.

I don't think there is a chance in hell that Hillary will be indicted. The president has already come out and said that there was nothing in it. The fix is clearly in.

However, once the FBI investigation is formally closed, I expect that some Republicans in Congress may launch their own, and it will not be as sympathetic. Questions such as "how were the work-related emails selected" will be permitted. That sort of thing.

That's one take. The other is that the FIX is IN. Obama met with Loretta Lynch, with no subject disclosed.

No. Clinton has too much dirt on Obama. And Clinton had to get Obama's approval to change a lot of the things the foreign countries/governments bought from her. Obama will be in jail with Hillary if she spills the beans on him.

I am betting she told Obama she would apply for immunity in the investigation and testify against Obama if she is indicted. Obama would have to pardon everyone in the administration. It would be the biggest shitshow ever.

There may be something to Meade's suspicion. Comey will surely recommend. Lynch will look to Obama. Consider Obama's legacy

- if he allows indictment to be blocked or sandbagged

- if he allows the justice system to proceed unimpeded

What he has done as President cannot be altered by whomever follows him - he did it, no one else, up to and including Hillary's case, however he decides. On the other hand, there's no real case to be made that the Democrats will be better off with Hillary than with a less dynastic, less entitled-feeling alternative. Sanders is glaring proof of just how many in her own party despise her.

Obama voluntarily adding the suspicion of interference in a major national security case involving the highest of his Cabinet members to his legacy seems all downside, no upside. He's taken his lumps already. Why would he volunteer to assume hers as well? He's simply not that altruistic.

Read that bio. Obama selected this guy to head the FBI. He respects him.

In May 2007, Comey testified before both the Senate Committee on the Judiciary, and the House Judiciary subcommittee on Commercial and Administrative Law on the U.S. Attorney dismissal scandal. His testimony contradicted that of former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, who said the firings had been due to poor performance on the part of some of the dismissed prosecutors. Comey stressed that the Justice Department had to be perceived as nonpartisan and nonpolitical in order to function.

"The Department of Justice, in my view, is run by political appointees of the President. The U.S. attorneys are political appointees of the President. But once they take those jobs and run this institution, it's very important in my view for that institution to be another in American life, that—because my people had to stand up before juries of all stripes, talk to sheriffs of all stripes, judges of all stripes. They had to be seen as the good guys, and not as either this administration or that administration."

Apparently they were people in the White House who wanted this guy considered for Souter's seat. That would have been a hell of a thing, nominating a Republican for the Supreme Court. People on the left quashed that, of course.

But if this guy says, "we're indicting Hillary Clinton," that carries weight with Obama.

Why would Obama even make an endorsement at this stage if he didn't have full intention of letting Hillary run? If the FBI recommends an indictment and if Lynch decides to proceed, he'd look like such a fool (that even he in his narcissistic fog could appreciate).

I think it's more likely that the FBI recommends an indictment and Lynch claims that it'll take 6-8 months to review the case before making a decision. When this happens, Obama will declare this all old news and merely few violated policies, so to get this behind us, he'll issue a blanket pardon and the FBI materials will be sealed for 25 years. Any leaks from the FBI will be immediately and vigorously pursued in addition to unleashing the full force of gangster government on FBI agents (IRS, etc.).

Bruce Hayden said...

I agree - no indictment. But I don't think that his AG can prevent a criminal referral from the FBI. The director of the FBI has a ten year term, and is a straight shooting Republican. It was set up this way for a reason - to insulate the FBI from politics. Obama might be able to fire Dr Comey. It would be unlikely, and would depend on his innate power as President overriding specific statutes. But as likely would be fr the Director to resign, and along with him would probably go his to deputies. And he would immediately be called before Cngress to explain why, which would inevitably get to the evidence and attempts by the AG to ignore it. Which may mean voting out articles of impeachment for the AG. Plus, the FBI's evidence as page 1 news. Not pretty, and it would look exactly like what it was - ignoring justice for political reasons.

So, I expect a criminal referral from the FBI - but I don't expect an indictment. I think it more likely that Lynch runs out the clock than actually turns down the indictment. This would be the least risky politically. She has her marching orders now - no indictment. Then a nice pardon after the election, probably for all involved. And maybe for the other scandals too (Fast and Furious, IRS, etc)

Owen said...

What's the over/under in Vegas on this?

Bruce Hayden said...

The ther alternative is that after the criminal referral drops, Obama forces Hillary out (for ostensibly health reasons), and then Biden gets the nomination, and she gets a pardon. And that is Obama's leverage - either stay in and get indicted or get out and get pardoned. So far, she seems to be in extreme denial about how bad it probably is, and will get. The further she goes, the more out of touch she will look when the criminal referral drops.

Why do I think there will be a criminal referral? Because the FBI routinely sends people to jail for far, far, less. And this may be one of the most egregious breaches of our national security in a couple of generations. And it was not the least bit inadvertent or accidental. Hillary didn't want her email subject to FOIA and Congressional oversight, so instead gave access to it to some of our worst enemies. We are potentially talking > 30,000 counts of violating federal records laws, and > 2,000 counts of mishandling national security information. We aren't talking Gen Petraeus mishandling his personal diary, but thousands times that. What does it say to the millions of loyal Americans who have had security clearances over the last 60 years, and did the right thing by protecting national security information, instead of making it easily accessible to our enemies? And to all those who have lost careers or gone to jail for a single lapse (and not the > 30,000 that Hillary did)?

I might call it pathological, similar to her lying - she just does it. Nor is it possible to make the scope of her activities simply vanish, as if in some magic trick disappearing an elephant. Too much has been documented, then distributed, to too many people across too many levels of society. Too many people who don't like her already have a majority of the same facts the FBI does at their fingertips, ordinary voters.

Imagine the current response to the Stanford sexual assault verdict wreaked instead politically by nearly half the population against Washington, DC. And it would not merely be confined to the email case. Once loosed, it would sweep up into its resonance the IRS/Lerner/Koskinen mess, and every other still unrighted wrong.

Imagine the Ferguson, MO, riots wrought by several united layers of social and political classes with far more resources, impulse control, and direction than to merely torch a CVS or loot a TV.

Paranoia suggests irrational fear and anxiety. But we are talking about the Clintons... back in the White House... for 4 to 8 more years. There is nothing irrational about fearing that. On the contrary, in fact, shouldn't you Clinton supporters consider getting mental health check-ups yourselves? You could be suffering from something akin to Battered Woman Syndrome.

Consider the factors of your abusive relationship with the Clintons (and their Democrat cronies):

1.You worry that you might have no way to support yourself or your children if you leave the Clintons.
2. Perhaps you come from a background of abuse and you are conditioned to look for the good in Hillary just as she had to find the good in Bill.
3.You truly believe Hillary wants to help you. It’s a kind of "rescue syndrome." You remember when you fell in love with the Clintons, back in the 90's, and you believe you can get back to "the way we were."
5. You likely have low self-esteem. You believe you're only getting what you deserve.
6. You also might fear that if you reject the Clintons, it will only heighten the abuse.

Please consider talking over your situation with a trained mental health professional. Please, I implore you. For your own life and the lives of your loved ones. Please.

Hillary's a horrible candidate. I won't be voting for her... my conscience won't allow it. That doesn't mean I'll vote for Playground King Con Man Trump, either though. I'm going 3rd party or staying home.

Hillary will probably set women back.. is what I'm told from friends abroad who've had a woman head of state. This is what happens when someone of such little non-careerist accomplishment and even less vision makes her campaign almost solely about the image of her by gender. I feel sorry for you, and for other women in this country. Future women leaders will be considered more suspiciously because they will unfortunately be "tainted" by the self-appointed Every-Woman who stood for nothing that the country agreed it needed in order to be brought forward in a positive direction. She will be a cult of personality by gender. Very, very sad.

Neither can I abide by someone, trained as she was at the country's best legal institutions, with such low regard for the integrity of the law. I see her and Trump as nearly equally bad, but in different ways. I think she'd present a more stable image, but obviously at great cost. Trump might end up doing great and needed things, but too many people will not vote for someone who is incredibly unhinged, ethnicity-obsessed, and even more dismissive of the longstanding independence of our judiciary and the stability it creates in our country.

Stability comes with its own costs, as our long-standing trajectory is what's got us into these disastrous messes. I want to shake up the system, but I don't think Trump has the right idea of how to go about doing it.

I won't vote for either. My suspicions on who would be worse as speculations and biased, but I know enough to know that there are a whole bunch of things wrong with either of them. It's not for nothing that they both have the historically highest unfavorables of any previous candidate.

Idealism is still alive, though. And there are other candidates to vote for. It's not my job to maintain the duopoly.

Have you read nothing I've written this whole year? Why, there's even a comment right above this one that details all that amply.

But there is much more going on in America right now than Clinton or her doppelgänger Trump. So I'm optimistic. Both of these two clowns have historically high unfavorables. More people are probably against them than are for both of them, let alone either one by themselves. There is something worth feeling good about in that. And the Clintons are the DNC and the establishment. We have equally aimed our cannons at and weakened their (i.e. their party's) machine as we have them. So don't blame me. Just because your right wing hasn't accomplished any of the important things that an insurgent Trump campaign could have accomplished, doesn't mean that we on the left have as little to show for what we've done. We've done plenty.

Well, April - that is the wild card. It's possible that Trump could not only win but be a better learner than HRC. Remember, Hillary said that she's not a "natural politician". That was one of the scariest things I've heard anyone vying for the highest political office say. It's a heck of a lot different than saying she's not a "career politician". It's a way of saying that she simply doesn't have the knack for listening to and articulating and channeling the voice of the people. Which could be disastrous, no matter how many other people she has to rely on to have her ear.

Trump, OTOH, does seem to at least have a knack for the political attack, if nothing else. I'm equally freaked about by things he's done and said, but it's possible he could learn. He seems to be more chameleon than an unchangeably spotted leopard, and that could be what's needed. I have to hope he would, given the damage he's caused to the process. But I have no way of knowing for sure.

So it could be unnerving, many potentially scary outcomes. But I refuse to give into it. There were plenty of optimists in this campaign season. We saw them and it was inspiring. Funny you should say that...I was just thinking how fitting and enlightening it is that the first female candidate for the presidency of the US is Hillary Clinton. Some may have been under the delusion that is it time for a woman to run things because woman are morally superior than men. But instead, the ethically challenged Hillary is proof that the feminists were right about men and women being equals: Hillary has shown that women who run for high office can be just as corrupt and venal as any man. What a proud time to be a woman!

I don't think Obama has enough self-awareness to feel guilt about his racial hijinks. But I might be wrong. The man really is smart.

For instance, Barack Obama has to know, on some level, maybe just a subconscious one, that he used the Trayvon Martin killing to rile up black voters and get them to re-elect him. And his second term he has watched as there have been black riots in various cities. And now Donald Trump is doing the same game, with working class whites. And white Republicans forcibly rebuke him for his racism?

If he has a conscious he has to feel some guilt about all the racist shit he has said and thought about the GOP. And maybe he said, fuck it, I'm going to clean up my own house.

I read the WSJ piece Drudge is linking to. Meade, must know more than the WSJ. How in any way shape or form is the stuff in the WSJ piece going to lead to an indictment of HRC? Especially considering that the WSJ piece itself states that this stuff isn't expected to lead to an indictment.

Anywho, if the CIA can get away with the stuff surrounding their so-called secret torture report and tapping Senate computers, doesn't this WSJ stuff regarding State seem a bit lame?

WSJ reporters are the most liberal around. They are huge liberals at the WSJ, always on the warpath for corporate greed. The WSJ editorial page is very conservative, of course! Because conservatives buy and read the WSJ. But their reporters are more liberal than other publications, including the NYT.

My guess is there are many secret Bernie supporters at the WSJ, and also some Republicans too up above them. A whole newsroom filled with people who loathe Hillary.

That story is pretty much how Watergate took out Nixon. The stories got so bad, and built and built, and finally Republicans told Nixon to resign.

There may or may not be a prosecution, but you can expect major leaks from the Obama administration to sabotage Hillary Clinton and her campaign going forward.

Obama is very calm. But Obama is very pissed at somebody in his own party.

What baffles me is why Obama even allowed Hillary this insanity. There wasn't an upside for him in this and the downside is terrible. Considering the number of emails that Hillary sent to and received from the other cabinet departments and agencies along with those to and from the Executive Office the problem for the FBI and the AG is how to limit this to Hillary and her minions. It's not just the violation of federal records laws, freedom of information laws and national security laws it's also also corruption. Pardon my bad linking skills but the two below links add even more fuel to the fire.

R & B rather perceptive comment. If you live in a state that isn't a swing state then casting a ballot for a third party of not voting for president is easy to do, your vote probably doesn't mean anything. However if you do live in a swing state then it does. I do. So as I see it I don't have the option of not voting for president or voting third party. Sometimes - I do like Trump

WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are engaged in their first full-blown Twitter war.

Trump started it, mocking President Barack Obama's endorsement of the presumptive Democratic nominee on Thursday.

"Obama just endorsed Crooked Hillary. He wants four more years of Obama_but nobody else does!" Trump tweeted.

Clinton's campaign responded with an epic troll: "Delete your account," her campaign replied.

The message marked a departure for the often cautious Clinton and quickly went viral, getting retweeted 130,000 times in about an hour. It was a campaign milestone: Clinton's most retweeted tweet.

"Delete your account" is a typical joke used on the social media site, often deployed when someone has failed to be funny.

But Trump, who's known for his brash voice on the site, shot back with his own missive.

"How long did it take your staff of 823 people to think that up--and where are your 33,000 emails that you deleted?" he wrote.

Awesome. FU Hillary - you f*ing lying corrupt money grubbing witch.

Which had me agreeing with someone above that an indictment may come later. Then I thought "duh" we are talking about three (counting Jarrett) of the most corrupt, narcissistic, power hungry persons on the face of the earth, so I'm sure some kind of deal has been struck and Lynch was simply given the directive to do what O/VJ want.

Likewise the WSJ piece that was associated with this thread eventually stated that HRC's actions weren't likely to justify an indictment.

But, when the very first sentence of any piece, like your DC link, includes the word "may," you can immediately stop reading. The rest is speculation and click or read bait. It's like the way that FNC loves the question mark: "Is HRC a bottom feeding loser who eats kittens? We report, you decide after these words from our sponsors."
