"I like senators who don't get captured... by their own political correctness."

Said Meade in the comments to last night's post about John McCain saying something Trumpish about Obama and terrorism and then half-retracting it.

You know, McCain is getting primaried, and he's got a personal political interest in saying enough to ward off Kelli Ward without losing stature as a venerable, dignified, established Republican.

But if he can't do the calibration off-stage and deliver a message he'll stand by, it's going to be Mitt-Romney-in-the-second-debate humiliating.

McCain has talked the talk in the past. But he has never been able to walk the walk.

I will be interested in the Trump - Hillary debates.
I cant remember her name, but there was the woman moderator that jumped in to defend Obama against Romney in that one debate. That won't happen without a fight from Trump in these coming up.
I'll use blood also, there will be a bloodletting.

He was on the right track for a moment but he inevitably backed off his accusation and he will lose.

Actually, I like Martha McSally for that seat eventually.

McCain is not "dignified." He is a totally loose cannon whos says and does totally incomprehensible things at the worst possible times.

Yea, when he was running in the last election, one of his commercials had him standing by a fence saying something to the effect 'lets build that damn wall'.

It's amazing what you'll say when you're running for office.

I give him a pass. He was so beat up over the 2008 campaign. He could say whatever he wanted about Bush, and the media loved him. But when he said bad things about Obama, he was racist, he was cranky, he was divisive.

McCain lost any chance he had to win the '08 election when he consciously refused to rightfully, publicly and continually stick Rev. Wright up Obama's ass.

He deserved to lose.

John McCain saying something Trumpish about Obama and terrorism

How was what McCain said Trumpish? It sounds to me like generic political statement. What he said would have been one of the more sanguine criticism of Bush.

We've gone so long without the ability to criticize Obama that even a mildly strong statement is shocking to us.

Exactly, Bill, RoT.

Everybody knows Obama's foreign policy is a mess. It's a huge mess. But instead of criticizing it, we avoid it. There are almost no stories about it. Occasionally now, the media can cover Foreign Policy because you can couch it in terms of Trump being much worse. But hold Obama accountable for his mess? no can do

McCain and HR Clinton are about as different as is possible, but they share one characteristic: each firmly believes they are entitled to hold office based on past services rendered. Real in McCain's case, imagined in Clinton's. Both are wrong.

Since Orlando, almost 500 Syrians have been brought into the country at taxpayers expense. Nobody can say that Obama isn't doing his job.

Trump: U.S. troops stole money in Iraq

http://www.politico.com/story/2016/06/trump-us-troop-stole-millions-and-millions-in-iraq-224352#ixzz4BeZU3gsn

Trump never served in the Armed Services and received multiple deferments during the Vietnam War because of a bone spur. Yet, that didn’t stop Trump being a baseball player at his private school or a lifetime of playing golf. Funny that.

Trump is the guy who told John McCain that he is not a war hero because he was captured (and tortured) in Vietnam. And, now McCain is trying to out-Trump Trump. Funny that too.

Sometimes unknowns are known to us under a different name. Same smell, though.

McCain should retire. Ward is crazy. Before McSally looks to any Senate seat she needs to get re-elected to her House seat. Her district is the ultimate split district.

And in the background Jeff Flake continues in his quiet, libertarian ways.

Oh yeah, and Sheriff Joe continues his role as Trump's clown in AZ.

About that stealing stuff - I am sure I remember some articles about G.I.s coming across stockpiles of 100 dollar bills fom the Saddam Hussein regime and making off with some of it.

Leftist Hollywood writers have been pushing the plotline of thieving US soldiers since we went into Baghdad. Trump just watches too much TV.

Oh yes. Tucson is split between left wing university people and retired and active duty military.

If Trump loses, McCain getting primaries would soothe over some of that psychic pain.

Of course, nothing will soothe the pain we will all experience once Hillary's supreme Court begins to remove all of our rights.

But it's something.

McCain is one reason Trump is the GOP nominee.

It was McCain's turn to lose the presidency in 2008, and by gosh, McCain took his turn to lose like a respectable establishment GOP is supposed to do.

I, for one, expect his primary opponent to praise McCain much like Anthony praised Brutus at Caesar's funeral.
