"You are defending the people who killed the lives you say matter. Tell the truth."

Couldn't see the video--did Bill actually tell the BLMers that they should be focused on the crime-scum that are actually killing far more black people than the police? If so, good for him! It would be nice to see some black politicians show that kind of fortitude, so it can't be written off as "white privilege" striking again.

If I'm totally wrong about the video, then as Roseanne Rosanadanna said, "never mind"!

The old Billy Jeff is back. He is not being Mr Meek anymore. He is being aggressive and Trumpesque. How that style that contrasts with Hill goes over back in Lesbian Feminist Headquarters remeins to be seen. He may end up re-assigned to Alaskan small town rallies.

These left-wing activists are obnoxious, but nobody calls them on it.

Gotta defend Bill here -- although it has the makings of an Iran-Iraq war dispute (can't both sides lose?)

Someone who has to much to drink and flirts with someone's wife at a party is obnoxious. These people are no better than SD Brownshirts who crashed opposition political meetings and shouted down speakers and roughed up their opponents. This is wayyyy beyond obnoxious.

But these sentiments are taboo in the MSM, because they favor exactly this sort of bullying, as long as it's SJWs doing the bullying.

Yes, he did.

How would the MSM portray this if Trump had said the same? That Bill did is beneficial no matter his moral shortcomings.

Let's wait to see what the actual media/sjw/coastal elite reaction to this is. I'll provide the popcorn, but I fear it may be crickets. Anything else will be worth the extra butter.

I think this was a genuine Bill reading the room moment as he can do when at his "best." If it had been preplanned he would have better anecdotes at his fingertips.

Meade said...

@ Big Mike, no. You caught me in a lie. I should've told the truth and said 18 wheeler.

According to a BLM spokesman, black on black crime is a "myth." This leads me to believe that the inner city gangs consist of white guys wearing blackface.

Humperdink said...

Hillary has the black vote in her (pantsuit) pocket. Maybe we should say "had".

That is, if the Bern would grow a pair (or least borrow a pair from Bruce Jenner), his next campaign commercial should highlight this smack down of the BLM crowd.

They do. Not too many, but they are still used.

Sure, railroads still have boxcars. I live by RR tracks and I see plenty of boxcars. Containers-on-flatcars are far more numerous nowadays, but boxcars are still used.

There are not enough Americans in the country... not enough people in the world... to give Bill the number of blowjobs that these Republicans and DINOs seem to want to give him and that he'd willingly accept.

The 1992 Bill Clinton is a Democrat I could vote for, in a sufficient pinch. Pity it's 2016 -- his wife might get nominated in the 21st century Democrat Party, but he couldn't.

But still, purely out of curiousity, Professor Althouse, just how fast could the 22nd Amendment be repealed?

Oh please. Nobody, least of all white liberals, gives a shit about BLM. They've done their Tommin', served their purpose, and now their funding will disappear and so will they. This won't cost Hillary a single Black vote and will probably regain her many White ones, which is exactly Bill's role in this campaign.

Yes, the media tells us that the GOP has moved so far right, even Reagan couldn't get the Republican nomination today!
They are lying of course.
Who has gotten the GOP since 1988
-Bush I -- more liberal than Reagan.
-Dole -- more liberal than Reagan.
-Bush II -- more liberal than Reagan.
-McCain -- more liberal than Reagan.
-Romney -- more liberal than Regan.
Let's see who the Dems have nominated since 2000, shall we?
-Gore -- more liberal than Clinton.
-Kerry -- more liberal than Clinton.
-Obama -- more liberal than Clinton.
-Hillary or Sanders -- more liberal than Bill Clinton.

How could we possibly forget the 1994 Crime Bill and its key feature - Midnight Basketball - was, of course, based on "the theory that the person who stole your car, robbed your house and assaulted your family was no more than a disgruntled artist or would-be NBA star."

According to a study done for the Midwest Sociological Society Quarterly in 2007:

Our core theoretical postulate is that midnight basketball functioned as a symbol or code for race — or, more specifically, for young African-American men. The whole of this study has other clear and direct implications for work concerning racial threat and social control.

Short version: Midnight basketball targeted teenage black males to keep them off the street. Can you say recist?

Lewis Wetzel said...

Ah, gadfly, Democrats don't believe Blacks have a thing called "moral agency." Democrats believe that Black people are like animals. Black people, according to Democrats and even "Black leaders" like Sharpton, are like dogs left alone alone in the house with a pound of ground beef left on a counter. It's not really their fault when they devour it and ruin your dinner. You have to keep them away from temptation, the poor dears. They are not truly human, according to Democrats. Keeping them from hurting themselves and others is the least white people can do for them.

Fun fact: Me and Starchild welcomed Bernie to Peace Camp II back in '68. It was Bernie (useless),Trotsky's granddaughter (entitled), Matt the Welder (high functioning drunk), and various other groovy travelers on life's VW bus to the stars.

Meanwhile,I think Bill and Hilary were at Oxford, ritualistically buryin' a Bubba beneath layers of sophistication.

Stanley Dunham was out searching for the 'Other' amongst Global Villagers oppressed by The Capitalist Hegemony.

It is very difficult not to sympathize with Bill Clinton here. And the police.

Our society is becoming very polarized.

There was a story about a 26 year old black woman who claims she was booted from an AA plane because she was wearing a Black Lives Matter t-shirt. But it turns out she was also interfering with the flight attendant, having been triggered by the flight attendant moving a couple who did not speak English from the exit row seats (as is required by federal law). And then using her phone when she wasn't allowed to, to call someone about this terrible social injustice.

People are going to try to turn toward the center, but where is it in this election? One may call Hillary a centrist, but she is so unbelievably, so historically corrupt!

jr565 said...

Bill does have to defend that crime bill. Because if black incarceration is an issue he is the president that brought about the most of it. Which is kind of funny considering the reverence blacks hold for him.But I'll also defend his crime bill, because gangs and drugs were destroying the black community (and still are) and if you have tough laws that go,after drug dealers and those happen to be black then blacks are hardest hit. I doesn't mean there was a racist intent. After all, those selling drugs don't have to be black, or sell drugs at all.

Dan Hossley said...

That moment captures the essence of why Bill Clinton was elected President twice and Hillary won't be elected once. He has the ability and willingness to confront the grievance industry BS whereas Hillary doesn't.

Fernandinande said...

"I don't know how you would characterize the gang leaders who got 13-year-old kids hopped up on crack and sent them out onto the street to murder other African-American children," he told protesters. "Maybe you thought they were good citizens. She didn't." Contrary to the picture Clinton draws, so-called crack-related homicides are not caused by stimulant-fueled aggression. A 1997 analysis of "crack-related" homicides in New York City found that 85 percent were "systemic," meaning they grew out of black-market disputes. About 7 percent occurred during crimes committed to support a crack habit. Only one homicide out of 118 involved a perpetrator who was high on crack. In other words, the vast majority of the violence that Clinton says motivated the 1994 crime bill is a predictable consequence of the prohibition policy he and his wife continue to support.

The Feisty Bill is enjoyable to watch.

I notice that over at slate, Michelle Goldberg is calling on the Clinton Campaign to fire Bill.

Sammy Finkelman said...

This could have been actually the “Sister Souljah” moment of 2016. We'll see if it's exploited.

Bill Clinton lied, by the way, since the problem with crack and murders isn’t 13-year olds being used to kill others because they are on crack. The crack itself doesn't do that, and the gang members aren't themselves on crack. The crime that is associated with crack comes from financial and turf disputes, and from what people do to get money to pay for crack.

The rest is pretty obvious.

Sammy Finkelman said...

Fernandinande said...4/8/16, 10:43 AM

Contrary to the picture Clinton draws, so-called crack-related homicides are not caused by stimulant-fueled aggression.

Bill Clinton knows that, of course, but to say otherwise goes against the useful to criminal organizations drugs-cause-crime-by-their-nature meme, rather than being caused by black-market disputes or a need to pay for the habit, as you said. That meme was first used to explain the rise in crime caused by the sale of herpoin in the 1930s. It was marijuana, it was said, that was causing people to commit crimes, because it supposedly drove people crazy. And it was also supposed to be growing wild.

In other words, the vast majority of the violence that Clinton says motivated the 1994 crime bill is a predictable consequence of the prohibition policy he and his wife continue to support

You'd still want to prohibit it, because there are very bad health effects from cocaine, and it damages not just the heart, but the brain, and some people have committed suicide because nothing makes them feel all right. It's not like heroin. With heroin someone is addicted to the heroin (and the danger is from overdoses, and infections from contaminated needles, and fake heroin that is poison) but with cocaine someone is addicted to he dopamine that the cocaine forces his own body to release.

But the violence is an indirect result of the cocaine, and there was more violence with the crack business than with the standard cocaine business. The big complaint they have now with the crime bill is that it punished crack cocaine far more severely than standard cocaine - but there was a reason for that.

This issue - the disparity between different versions of the drug with regard to in the amount of drug needed to trigger severer penalties - was not something that it seems, either the protesters here, or Bill Clinton, addressed.

Brando said...

"I notice that over at slate, Michelle Goldberg is calling on the Clinton Campaign to fire Bill."

She's a fool. Bill is doing exactly what the campaign wants. This was a risk free way of testing this approach. If it works, they double down. If there's backlash, Bill can backtrack and Hillary can say he only agrees with his backtrack. Low risk, high reward.

Don't underestimate these people. They're working this campaign exactly how they want to.
