Bernie takes flight.

Drudge's presentation right now:

How do you interpret that juxtaposition? I see Trump thumb-pointing over to Bernie and Bernie spreading his wings, ready to take flight.

All I can say is, Go Bernie!

But, sadly, at some point, the Dems are gonna wake up, recognize that America won't elect a 74-year old Vermont Hippie Socialist to the White House -- and then muscle Hillary to the nomination.

The rise of Sanders shows that there is no such thing as social progress.
Sanders' philosophy has been responsible for mass murder and death by privation, again and again and again. It makes prisoners of citizens. What country does Sanders want the US to resemble? Denmark?
This ain't Denmark. Denmark isn't even the Denmark of Sanders' imagination.
What the Hell does Sanders mean by calling himself a "Democratic Socialist"? It don't mean "democratic" as in "majority rule". Sanders' "Democratic Socialism" empowers the government, not the people. You like the federal government? You go to bed with a warm, happy feeling knowing the bureaucrats of federal agencies got your back?
No one goes to bed with a warm, happy feeling knowing the bureaucrats of federal agencies got their back.
You can't even call Sanders' popularity the triumph of hope over experience, since his followers are ignorant of both history and of economics.

Doesn't that state placard behind his hand resemble a gun? For Trump to "kill" Bernie both first have to win their primaries.

Rick said...

Or does the anti-Trump Democrat position force them to be responsible in the own nomination and kill Bernie?

Here. Bernie's man of the people shtick distracts the voters while the Clinton's line up the suuuuperdelegates.

Great post. Your position made me recall the great wonderment that I had upon finding out in German class in 1979 that the east (communist) government was called the DDR, German Democratic Republic; a misnomer if there ever was one.

From the Salon article linked at Drudge:

Please name the last person to win the presidency alongside an ongoing FBI investigation, negative favorability ratings, questions about character linked to continual flip-flops, a dubious money trail of donors, and the genuine contempt of the rival political party. In reality, Clinton is a liability to Democrats,

Ouch! That Right Wing Conspiracy just got even more Vast.

I take it as a "Weekend at Bernie's" reference, a movie I've never seen. According to wikipedia, Bernie is dead but no one at his house party notices. Eh -- the metaphor sort of works.

Nixon only won because McGovern was the alternative. If Hillary was running against Sanders in the coming general election, she would win. I'm thinking the Donks are suicidal this round, but Hill 'n Bill won't let the party have its way, with the super-delegates guaranteeing a Hill nomination. Their party's system has a Politburo that will allow only her name on the ballot, and the progressive ass faction of the Donk party will whinny angrily and stamp their hooves, all to no avail!

Pass the popcorn. This may turn onto Democrat Convention a la 1968...

chickelit said...

Unfortunately, Dems have the little problem of superdelegates and buying and selling thereof.

I just read the Salon article. Wow. Although I disagree with the premise that Bernie is a stronger candidate in the general election. There might be poll data to back that up at this point, but that's really only because Hillary is a known (and widely disliked) quantity. People like Bernie because he isn't Hillary and because of his reputation for sincerity. Heck, I "like" Bernie for those reasons.

But I have no doubt that any GOP candidate, including Trump, would wipe the floor with Bernie in the general. That man is not electable. On policy grounds, he is much too far left (even in Obama's America). And let's face it, he looks old and feeble. Not a good look for the leader of the free world.

Nice video sunsong. I suspect the Bern won't used it though, he's too tepid in his criticism of former fifty-fifth lady.

The Bern's brother, Larry, would not be as bashful. Today he questioned whether Bill Clinton was "a terrible rapist or a nice rapist". That might leave a mark.

Bernie's Brother, Larry Sanders, makes me yearn for Billy Carter. The socialist stupidity runs deep within the Sanders family. At least Billy Carter focused on marketing "Billy Beer," and stayed away from politics.

Hillary's campaign doesn't know what the f*ck they're doing. Again.

Sanders must be attracting indies and leftish non dems. It's driving Clinton, her supporters, and the entire center/center left Royalty absolutely bonkers. "Oh no, you mean real people might gain some power?!"

Hope and Change. Unless somebody comes along who really means it. I hate Democrats. If Hillary wins the nomination I almost hope she loses in the general.

Here's the stupidity of the right-wing summarized in all its apoplectic glory.

There's a short answer to this: FDR.

Not a single Republican can advertise anything about himself without referencing Reagan.

FDR was ten times the man and ten times the president that Reagan ever was.

People know that in this country. I think they just revered him so much and took so much of his legacy for granted that they didn't realize how much of it could be undone by psychotic right-wing kooks subdued only so long by Buckley, until Reagan's departure from politics and death made them come out of the woodwork and rightly scare every sensible American out of their skulls.

But fear only works for so long. The next part is remembering. The Democrats are done with the Boss Tweed-Dixiecrat-Clintonian (Goldwater girl) corruption train of their establishment machine. It's an identity disorder in search of a legacy through power, but without any message or ideas. Other than how right-wing to be.

As even Republicans know, NOW is the time to purge establishmentarians of every stripe and faction.

Republicans believe that they only win when they get ideological. Now Democrats are starting to finally believe the same about themselves.

And not a second too soon. America has already seen right-wing ideas and policies implemented in their wretchedly disastrous glory, and they are sick of them.

Bernie's ideas poll extremely well. It just goes to show how far under the bubble Terry has barricaded himself that he doesn't realize this.

First they went after evolution, but I wasn't a biologist.

Then they went after climate change, but I wasn't doing research for NASA or NOAA (or the Pentagon).

Then they went after Keynesian economics, but I wasn't in the 99%.

Then they went after the poll results, but I was an American and knew that my preferences counted and were heavily supported.

Enjoy your Waterloo.

It's not too late to join the Kasich express, GM! At least, he is a nice Republican.

Kasich grew up a Democrat with Democrat parents. It's what keeps him from being a complete asshole.

I like that about Kasich. Further, he possesses a pragmatism that is foreign to the right-wing genome.

He's like the mirror image of Hillary. Hillary grew up a Republican Goldwater girl. So no matter how far she wants to further her fortunes with the Democratic machine, her corrupt, narcissistic, shallow, nasty Republican ways always bubble up to the surface.

We see the Democrat in Kasich as transparently as we can see Hillary's inner Republican.

I agree Garage. Just when you see one side (D or R) go off the radar screen, the other side goes into orbit. Can't keep up.

For political junkies, this is just dandy. At least until the one I detest wins.
