This blog is 12 years old today.
12 years of blogging every day, every single day. Not one holiday. Not one sick day. Not one getting-married day. I don't know if you've been reading every day for 12 years, but for whatever days you've been around here, thanks!

Holy crap! I've been lurking here for 12 years! Brought here by Instapundit. Congratulations Ann. Though we do not see eye to eye on everything political. I appreciate your thoughtfulness on the issues.
Congratulations, and many thanks for the extraordinary effort. I haven't been following you very long, but yours is my favorite blog by far.
Congratulations and keep up the good work!
Congrats. It doesn't act a day over 5.
You are loved.
I'd say that's hard to do, but you always say it isn't LOL.
Congrats and thanks.
Congratulations! I've sat down in this same chair most (but not all) of those days and enjoyed reading. Thank you.
Well done! Insightful and fun. Love it!
Congratulations!
I immigrated here from Instapundit that many years ago.
Thank you for the eclectic, provocative and intellectually stimulating posts.
Your blog work ethic is admirable and appreciated.
Been here every day since 2004 as a lurker for discussion on news and entertainment. Based on your point of view, sometimes the news is entertainment and sometimes entertainment is the news. Hope you go another 12.
Not for 12. Found you during the Walker/teacher union dust-up. I have a friend who used to teach in Wisconsin schools, and I was trying to find out *more*.
Have been a fan ever since although sometimes I do not agree with you. I appreciate the vast amount of reading you must filter through and the topics you then bring to the table - a smorgasbord that almost always appeals. You also have attracted an interesting, mostly well-informed, often vocally opinionated commentor community which is a bonus.
12 years everyday is truly remarkable. Thank you for the time and effort. Very well done.
Wow! Closing fast on Cal Ripken's record.
One day, Ann will stop. Then we'll all be like those followers of Forrest Gump during his running days when he decided to stop.
12 years of blogging every day, every single day. Not one holiday.
Every day's a holiday with Althouse
Wow, congrats! That went pretty quickly. I've been here each day for 9 years and through you found Nina. Double the fun each day. Thank you.
12*365 + 3 leap years = 4383 straight days. That's even longer than Cal Ripken's consecutive game streak, and it's still going strong! Congratulations Professor Ann, this is an essential blog.
Nearly every day for probably 11 of them. I think I even commented once. Happy bloggiversary!
I've been dropping by with coffee since 2008.
There are interesting topics and commenters to garner a laugh or a sigh.
Why do it?
You've got plenty of money and lifetime security.
When I retired 3 years ago, I mostly let the controversy blogging go, both reading and responding to it. It's just one media source arguing with another over, mostly, nothing. That's 3/4 of your stuff.
I blog now when I have something worthwhile to say or a little piece of art or a song worth posting.
It's your life. But, if I were in your shoes, I'd only blog about important legal issues. You're good at clarifying those. The pop stuff, especially the 60s nostalgia, isn't worth the effort you're putting into it.

She just felt like blogging!
You're welcome. The pleasure has been mine.
Keep on.
Glenn also pointed me here 12 years ago, not long after you started, and I have read it every day since, no matter where in the world I am, using my iPhone, iPad, whatever. Even now I am reading at work while taking a coffee break. I haven't commented much, but that is starting to pick up. I will be 65 next month and I am retiring at the end of the month so I hope that will give me a little more time to browse the comments and offer my thoughts during the day. This blog ahas the best group of commenters on the Internet and I derive much enjoyment every day from visiting here. I also admire you for posting every single day the whole time, I don't know how you do it, I think I would have given in long ago. But is very much appreciated and I want you to know that.
Congratualtions! I don't know when I go there, or how I got here, but I've been a regular reader for at least 12 of those 14 years (I started readin gin law school, which I graduated in 2004).
Sorry to thread hijack, but MikeR, Cal Ripken needs an asterisk next to his ironman record--how many times did he go on strike? He should hang his head in shame next to a record like the professor's.
Quality as well as quantity. And I like that you’ve kept the same look for the place.
I've been around since at least 2006....
Soon the blog will be a teenager!
Good luck!
Congratulations - on your topics and your readers; on the latitude you give your commenters and the toleration you require from them since liberalism keeps going here. "What good can come out of Madison" - yet Althouse flourishes there. Also like the pictures.
Congrats and....I can't believe how much of my time I've spent here.
Congrats,and thank you.
I like that you are someone who "likes layers of meaning and enjoys making people feel uncomfortable", even when I am sometimes among those who feel uncomfortable.
You are a master of the art of blogging. Thanks for all the great work and for my Amazon addiction
Yes, I think it *has* been a dozen years, or awfully close. I grew up in a family of attorneys. My maternal grandfather practiced law for 66 years, 28 of 'em as a judge. Three uncles. Four cousins. I could not have been more than about 7 yo when I understood what "estoppel" meant, which is in kid-language "you cannot talk yourself out of something you've behaved yourself into".
Consequently I was attracted almost immediately to you, Reynolds, Volokh, and a few others. Like my family, you have an interesting life alongside the law, which is what I continue to value most about your work. Thank you.
This is a wonderful trip for me as I've enjoyed your blog daily for most of the 12 years. Your intelligent approach to the news and serious issues as well as some frolicking on the side are a joy. Our common NYU background and memories have made it even more enjoyable because you sometimes reference those days (although mine were in 1970).
Thank you Professor.
Yeah. Althouse is the Ripken of the blogosphere.
Thank you for writing the best blog on the Internet.
I don't always agree with your opinions, but I usually drop by every day to read them. And you have the best commentariat on the Internet. Happy birthday!
Thank you! And happy pre-teen birthday!
Have you sorted your postings by tag lines? I'd like to see a histogram of that!
I'm a relative newcomer to the blog, and don't get to visit (or read) as much as I would like, but enjoy the wide variety of topics chosen, and your interesting takes on them.
I appreciate you and your efforts. Thank you.
Thank you! Your posts are always interesting and thought-provoking! I appreciate your perspective!
Another Instapundit migrant. Thank you for what you do. Your commentariat are also a very big part of why I stop by every day.
"Your blog work ethic is admirable and appreciated."
It's also a play ethic. More of a play ethic actually.
Thanks for all the comments!!
Your fiskings have inspired me to be a more critical reader. Thank you!
Thank you Ann. Yours is a marvelous blog and more so you have by and large the best commenters of the blogs i have read which adds to the pleasure of the blog. Happy Blog Anniversary and many, many more.
PS I just spent eleven days on a New Year's Eve cruise and spent several hundred bucks on an internet package simply to check in on the blog with my morning coffee. Officially the package was for business purposes ( and yes I did use it for that) but mostly to check in on your blog and a couple of others. Dang this internet stuff is addictive.
Blogging well, at that. Admirable. Congratulatiions and THANKS!
Happy blogday! Followed a link during the 2004 election season and have followed more or less since then. You've made blogging an art, intriguing and drawing in comments, without ever getting clickbaity. A great group of commenters over the years has helped this be an interesting salon indeed. I've dropped out of reading blogs for the most part, but keep showing up hereabouts.
You need to print out a perfect attendance certificate.
Congratulations Ann! I never miss a day.
Twelve years. Over that time, there's been a huge change in how we get the news, stay informed, react to the day's events, relate to one another. This blog has been a big part of making the transition to today's norm on all of those fronts, as have a few others.
What other endeavor can be characterized as 'play' and still have that kind of impact? Nothing comes to mind, other than (perhaps) high-end entertainment (music, drama, sports). I wonder if those engaged in such activities also think of what they do as a form of 'play.' Anyway, thanks for the daily dose of the Althousian vortex. Looking forward to another 12 years.
Thank you for a wonderful blog. Very entertaining and far reaching. Thanks for your constancy and inspiring high standards. The photos are also great and a window into the world of lakes and the clean crisp world of WI.
Happy day. There have been additions and subtractions from my daily blog reads over the past decade-plus, and I'm glad that you're still offering interesting views from Madison, Wisconsin.
I don't know if you've been reading every day for 12 years, but for whatever days you've been around here, thanks!
It is for us to thank you, Professor.
You are welcome indeed. Bless you for your good work.
It's one of the finest blogs on the web, Ann. My sincere thanks to you for the effort undertaken each day to entertain us and -- on occasion -- educate us. Brava!
Iron Horse!
It's an amazing accomplishment, truly. And so much fun for us. Thank you.
Happy Blogiversary, Althouse! I suppose I've been following your blog almost since its inception. Although my primary interest is in the political and legal topics you address, I've also learned about other things from your blog, such as aspects of popular culture (I had never heard of Lady Gaga until you posted a video, for example). Yours is the only blog on which I regularly read the comments, and sometimes post my own. You've attracted a motley crew (or crue) of commenters, some of whom (of course!) are idiots, but many of whom agree with me. I hope that before long the commenters will de-motlefy enough that you can stop moderating comments.
