What's the theory?
The Super Bowl is set for Feb. 7, and past Patriots victory parades have traditionally been set for the Tuesday immediately following the game — in this case Feb. 9, the day of the [New Hampshire] primary. The Pats, already reigning Super Bowl champions, held their parade on a Wednesday last year, but only because a Tuesday procession was snuffed out by a snowstorm. So far, Boston Mayor Marty Walsh — a supporter of Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton — isn’t prepared to publicly discuss the possibility....Why is Christie's guy drawing attention to the close relationship between Trump and Tom Brady?!
“When a million people show up in Boston, you can figure 30 percent of them or 25 percent of them are from New Hampshire," said Joel Maiola, a New Hampshire adviser to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's campaign.... Maiola joked that if Brady chokes, he just might be throwing the game to keep turnout high for Trump. “The fix is in,” he said with a laugh. “If we start seeing Brady flopping on the field, we know he’s taking a flop for Donald Trump.”
“The blue-collar Trump supporter that is thinking about showing up and voting for the first time — this level of inconvenience might have some impact,” [Maiola] said. “If it were the Red Sox, it’d be all over and people would choose the Red Sox. The marginal voters might pick the parade.”Why is Christie's guy dinging blue collar, non-politico-type voters as marginal? Guys who'd go to a Super Bowl parade and miss a primary — those are the guys you want to disrespect?
On the subject of the Brady-Trump friendship — called a "bromance" in the Politico article — I found this from Brady:
"Donald is a good friend of mine. I have known him for a long time. I support all my friends. That is what I have to say. He's a good friend of mine. He's always been so supportive of me -- for the last 15 years, since I judged a beauty pageant for him, which was one of the very first things that I did that [I] thought was really cool. That came along with winning the Super Bowl. He's always invited me to play golf. I've always enjoyed his company."He stops short of endorsing Trump and asks to "stay out of this debate." And Trump says:
“I’m a friend of Tom Brady, very good friend, and he was so nice to me... Because he said, you saw what he said a couple weeks ago. He called, he said Trump is the greatest winner. When you get that, and then all of sudden in Massachusetts, I saw that cause Tom is New England, Massachusetts, and all of a sudden in Massachusetts we got poll numbers that were 52 percent. I said, that’s the Tom Brady effect.... When he says great things about you in Massachusetts, you know, that’s pretty much about as good as you can get. He’s an amazing guy, great athlete, great quarterback."

Because he's Trump and that's how he rolls.
Is everything about Trump? - yes, and it's a good thing
I am impressed with all the people who know Trump personally and like him. Many are people who have no interest that might be helped by his election.
It is certainly an interesting year.
OMG. It's Boston Values. And everybody knows what that means...Boston and Gomorrah for the over educated New England WASPS. Why they have world class Universities everywhere, and being that smart is what makes Pure Conservatives have a jealous fit.
So that sly Trump must be a secret super liberal all along. Trump even gets along with that genius owner Robert Kraft, and he must be a cheater because he makes the other teams lose just like the secret super liberal Trump does.
Someone on that Lupica thread commented that sportswriters are the dregs of the journalist class, and all leftists. Striking concept. You go to a game and report on what happened. You don't have to analyze or try to insert your values. You've been itching to broadcast your values, but the dying newspaper keeps sending you to the high school championship game to report on a stupid decision to go for it on fourth and 21.
On video, sportscasters are pretty high up the ladder of respectability. They do a tough job, and the best of them (Vin Scully) do it so well that all who speak for a living study them, or should.
When a million people show up in Boston it means they finished the road construction on the Pike and broke up the traffic jam.
The people who are not going to vote for Trump, are not going to vote. The numbers Trump is about to roll up are going to blow everybody's minds. No one will want to not be able to say 'of course I voted for Trump!'.
I'm coming around to the opinion that, yes, everything will be about Trump for the next 8 years or so.
What are the odds that someone won't vote who is able to read a schedule, get up early, fight the traffic, take a bus, the train, pick up their friends to get not only to a parade but the last pTb rally, wait in the freezing rain, be ignored by the press, just for chance to see him wave as he wades into the crowd outside and return the thumb's up? What do the pundits say if the turnout is twice normal? Oh my. Time to move from popcorn to heavily salted fried pork rinds, and even more beer. Looking forward to the time that the FDA is disbanded replaced by the wisdom of crowds, social networks, and the people voting with their wallets. And the FDA's budget returned to the people. Gasp, it's cut in the increase of spending. Well, ok, since the all the costs of government today are borrowed funds, running a printing press, rather than being returned to the people it will simply not be spent. A great day. Has this type of turnout been seen since Roosevelt? A pTb of his day. More salt please. Amazing what can happen when it's a government of the people for the people. D@mn that fellow Jefferson.
How do you pronounce Pats in that context? Long A or short?
Pants-
'Pats' is short a, 'Patriots' is long a. Seems odd, but the same rule applies to truncating 'ex-patriate' to 'ex-pat.' If you're not confused yet, consider that the Red Sox nickname 'BoSox' has a long first 'o' but 'Boston' is all short 'o.' To round out the trifecta, the word 'Celtic' has a K sound when referring to the culture, but an S sound when referencing the Boston NBA team. It all makes sense if one is roaring drunk at game time.
Forget it Jake, it's Bostontown.
Cruz should respond that Brady is a Massachusetts liberal, with no family values, and a cheater!
