"To my family and friends, if you love me you will understand me buggering off for a bit," he wrote. Here's Ed Sheeran's YouTube page, which I put up because I imagined the "Who's Ed Sheeran?" comments that were about to be posted, and now I'm imagining the commenters who think they'd be displaying a cool sense of humor if they now wrote "Who's Ed Sheeran?"

"I find myself seeing the world through a screen and not my own eyes."
Said Ed Sheeran, quitting social media.

Who are the commenters who'd think they'd be displaying a cool sense of humor if they now wrote "Who's Ed Sheeran?"?
I am Ed Sheeran.
I am also Spartacus.

I wonder if Althouse's sense of humor is affected by her Anosmia.
Losing one of the Senses would seem to increase the reliance upon the others, which would certainly influence how one sees the World.
That skewing of World Perception might manifest itself in the placing of more importance on things that are a step removed from stimuli: for instance, an increased focus on the written word.
With this increased focus on words -- as opposed to the stimuli they might represent -- it might flatten one's emotional responses, perhaps to a level of cruel neutrality.
This flattening of emotional response would seem to certainly shape one's sense of humor, perhaps by missing the influence of stimuli that words may contain in a humorous context.
This could result in a sense of humor that prefers clever flat word play, rather than humor of, say, juxtaposition in a non sequitur variety.
Off the Top of My Head.

I am confused because I am Spartacus.
I only know of Ed Sheeran because when the Grammys honored Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, he did a version of "In My Life" that I think was better than the original. And I LOVED the original.

Are you? Maybe I am the walrus, then. I know it's one of those for sure.
Limiting my response to the issue of social networking...
I think it's a rip-off. I want to network with people I don't already know, and they are too scared to click the friend request or whatever the coined term is for the application. The software scares people. They live in fear. People are no more social with software then they are in church. The stay close to those they already know.
For example, there is an artist in France who I have been to her show, and even though she is a painter, I was attracted to some pottery she did. She was just using the pottery as a prop, but was surprised that people were commenting more on her pottery than her paintings.
After I returned home, I thought, hey, I'm going to follow her on facebook. Click! No response. Wait a month, she's a busy person. No Response. Cool, well onward without a new artist friend, I guess...
So anyway, I use that as an example of why social networking via software is like scratching your ass, only your ass doesn't feel any better when you're done.

Went to your link.
Ugh.
I'm thinking you're a fan of Norah Jones too.
edit willers: Well, I liked it. Gustibus non disputandum!
(My wife teaches Latin.)
A very talented young man whose voice is reminiscent of Van Morrison's.
I like Sheeran. I don't want to, but I do. Seems like a decent sort. Not a total fan of his music, but they're listenable songs for the most part. I like that he's not a pretty boy. Besides, he did a lap on Top Gear so he can't be all bad. (http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2fkj7r)
