He's about to say something in the Rose Garden.
On CNN, they're indicating that he's going to say he's not running... because the President and other senior officials are there.
ADDED: He says the time window has closed, and it's too late to mount a campaign.
MORE: With Obama standing next to him, Biden says that Democrats should not only "protect" Obama's record, they should "run" on that record. Do I see the door left open a crack? If Hillary doesn't straighten up and run on Barack Obama's record, Biden might have to get in.
AND: Why is he making a campaign speech?

Obama and Hillary! has struck a deal?
HELLO PRESIDENT HILLARY CLINTON!!!
Hillary has an uphill battle. #1 word for Hillary is still LIAR. She is still a crook.
She still trails Sanders in Iowa and New Hampshire, and most R's are beating her nationally.
So the "Democratic" party isnt offering a choice at all!? What a great Democracy.
So your choice is HRC or a Socialist who isnt actually a member of the party and is just running to push his catch phrases. Or Lincoln Chaffee who isnt a Democrat or O'Malley who is actually running for a post in the HRC administration.
How bizarre that the party claiming to be a democracy also is running only one candidate and the whole nomination is sewed up anyway because of super delegates.
Yes, run on his record.
THe dems Should try to run on Obama's record. Please do.
Hillary is an invention of the GOTV division of the GOP. At least, if she didn't exist, they would have to invent her.
Indictment of Hillary is now off the table.
B. Franklin: "Three people can keep a secret, if two of them are dead."
Wait 'til people see what their health plans are going to look like 2016. Prices are just coming in and they are HIGH!
All those things Obama postponed, well, Hillary will be running into the teeth of them. I have one acquaintance, very pro Hillary and pro Obama, and pro Obamacare who "doesn't want to spend money on health insurance right now" so she is going "bare." I value her friendship so I didn't ask her if she knew she was breaking the law.
I'm not surprised--he's waited far too long to make a decision. And he's leaving no crack open, he's just supporting his president.
"She still trails Sanders in Iowa and New Hampshire, and most R's are beating her nationally."
Unfortunately I don't see that lasting. Sanders isn't even trying to beat her, he just wants attention like the crazy old man he is, and hopes he'll make his leftist ideas popular enough that Hillary will run on them (which is working). Once the nominations are sewn up, the Dems will get back in line and Hillary will be elected. I'm learnning to accept that depressing conclusion.
People who committed smaller crimes than Hillary were held accountable - fired, fined, jailed. ...Laws are for the little people.
This is great news for Donald Trump. Biden has the personality that could beat the harsh persona of The Trumpster. Hillaryon the other hand has the worst personality known to man.
This would explain some of Hillary's leftward lurches. But not the constant undermining by Obama only for him to stop now. Hillary's top word associations are ghastly and the background polling numbers on honestly are unrecoverable and worse reflect the truth about her. She will never be able to change those numbers.
I would surmise she told Obama if she didn't win that she would take his legacy down. Obama told her if she didn't support his legacy he would take her down. Is Obama ceding this election to save his legacy from a bitter Hillary knowing she will lose the general knowing that will finally get rid of her?
"Indictment of Hillary is now off the table."
Maybe. I am waiting to see what the FBI Director does. The FBI has a lot invested in this.
Brando - Her ultimate electability is not a lock. I don't see her winning over huge swaths of people who do not trust her and do not like her. If the GOP would hammer her, and
her endless corruption and selfish money-grubbing, she will fail.
Hillary on the other hand has the worst personality known to man.
True.
' "Indictment of Hillary is now off the table." Maybe. I am waiting to see what the FBI Director does." '
Yeah - the Justice Department's indictment isn't necessary here. If the FBI recommends that she be punished for her grievous ridiculous flouting of secrecy laws, I don't think she could be elected even if the Justice Department ignores the recommendation. I even think she probably wouldn't be nominated: her support would run not walk to find an alternative.
I find myself fascinated that so many liberals think that there is no chance of that happening, and that so many conservatives seem to think it's a foregone conclusion. Unless you're in the FBI, you're just guessing. But go right ahead and guess.
Once written, twice... said...
HELLO PRESIDENT HILLARY CLINTON!!!
I, for one, welcome our new insect overlord.
What I don't get is why the Democrats are such a cult about specific people? Why can't they throw Hillary aside due to all of her problems and run somebody else? They are almost Stalinist in their loyalty to specific people over the good of the party as a whole.
"This is great news for Donald Trump. Biden has the personality that could beat the harsh persona of The Trumpster. Hillaryon the other hand has the worst personality known to man."
What about those of us turned off by both of them? This is really what our two major political parties have foisted on us? Trump and Hillary?
I don't think there's enough whiskey in the world to get me through the next four years...
I actually think think this allows the Justice Department to proceed against Hillary, which I think Obama wants.
However, this also opens up other possibilities:
- Obama's Admin people cut deals with Hillary for certain roles
- Biden will be Hillary's VP pick
Obama really dislikes the Clintons, and I think Joe was "publically thinking" about running as a way for Obama to get leverage in some capacity or destroy Hillary's chances somehow.
So at this point I'm guessing the FBI is about to make a recommendation against Hillary, OR a deal has been cut that we'll find out about in the coming months.
"Brando - Her ultimate electability is not a lock. I don't see her winning over huge swaths of people who do not trust her and do not like her. If the GOP would hammer her, and
her endless corruption and selfish money-grubbing, she will fail."
AprilApple, I sincerely hope you turn out to be right and I would be thrilled to be wrong on this. But the Dems have an electoral vote wall, and the GOP can't win if it repeats its numbers with blacks, Asians and Hispanics from 2012. I don't see how they can do much better with the white vote than they had then. It'll be a very uphill battle to change that.
Isn't Hillary's testimony today?
Squirrel!
It turns out that as long as you are willing to accept fewer benefits on your health plan, your costs aren't going to go up that much! Isn't that great!
"What I don't get is why the Democrats are such a cult about specific people? Why can't they throw Hillary aside due to all of her problems and run somebody else? They are almost Stalinist in their loyalty to specific people over the good of the party as a whole."
I don't get it either. I could understand the cult of FDR, he had charisma and political gifts that could unite a disparate party and created coattails--he genuinely changed the country in his image. You could say the Dems needed him. But what on earth do they get from Hillary? She's the only scandal-plagued politician who could also be completely boring at the same time. She has sold out liberals every time they were inconvenient. They've had to swallow their anti-war and pro-civil liberties complaints every time she defied them. They had to endure embarrassing silence, or ridiculous rationalizations, when her husband groped and raped and creeped his way around any woman unfortunate enough to get within arms' reach.
How on earth could they not replace the Clintons with someone else?
Beau Biden died in vain.

Don't forget: Pay more with a higher deductible.
Here's my long-shot guess:
Elizabeth Warren runs.
The president likes her better than Biden anyway. She captures those who want Hillary Clinton because they want a historic first woman president; she would excite the Sanders fans almost as much as Sanders does, while being a much easier sell to non-USSR-honeymooning Democrats.
She never wanted to be the reason Mrs. Clinton's campaign falters, but if that should happen anyway, she will, like Paul Ryan reconsidering the speakership, assess her duty and step up to the plate.
Thing is, professor, he does have a time limit. State primaries have a date when you must qualify for them and it is approaching rapidly.
And I don't see her inevitability anymore than I saw Coakley's in 2010. Hillary is an amazingly terrible candidate. She won her Senate seat because Giuliani didn't for it.
And she still has no answers for the server et al. She never will get answers. Nor can she answer questions about her associates. And feminists can be slapped around to not be too vocal by the constant mentions of who she enabled for decades of deplorable behavior around women.
joes running for vp. again
She never wanted to be the reason Mrs. Clinton's campaign falters, but if that should happen anyway, she will, like Paul Ryan reconsidering the speakership, assess her duty and step up to the plate.
The time problem Biden has...she also has. Less than a month to qualify for multiple primary ballots. Need to develop a fundraising and campaign. Try to turn super-delegates --- which she probably cannot do.
Hillary must have struck a deal with obama.
Maybe Slow Joe simply forgot to run for President.
"Hillary must have struck a deal with obama."
I don't know if this tells us that either way. It's also possible Obama wanted Joe to run (at least have someone running on his legacy, and he has no love for the Clintons anyway) but Joe simply wasn't up for it.
I for one was anxious to see what another round of combo hair plugs/veneers/botox/spray-on tan would deliver.
Alas.
I am pretty sure that Webb will run center left against Hillary's hard left. In other words, Jim Webb will run on Bill's record while Hillary tries to placate the Sandernistas.
I can't see Hillary getting the same share of the black vote as Obama though. They really need as many illegals as they can get.
This whole scenario that just played out only make sense if it was the public part of a behind the scenes negotiation between Obama and Clinton.
After all what really changed here? This has been the "window" all along- it not like Biden work up and realized the date.
One week Obama cant possibly comment on the legality of Clinton running her own email server. And Biden is saber rattling. Then something happens and statements get walked back. What was that behind the scenes deal that got struck? What did Clinton have, or a President Clinton have that Obama was negotiating for?
Picking the running mate? Or does he think he can be approved by the Senate for SCOTUS?
Webb though, is not plugged into the billionaires the way Hillary is. Hillary is straight up for sale, billionaires like that in a politician.
I'm with Tim in Vermont.
I thought it was the GOP who were the Stupid Party. What advantage other than name recognition does Clinton (Rodham?) bring to the Dem table? Wait, I just realized that asking the question reveals the answer:
Money. Stacks of Money.
Biden has turned out to be a better VP than most. He stood by his man, he put family first, and he ultimately surrendered his lifelong dream.
and as TiV just pointed out, the money flows both ways.
I never thought Biden would run. I thought it was a shot across Hillary's bow by Obama, in essence, "Shape up, girl! Don't botch up my legacy!"
There is no way on God's green earth that Obama's DOJ will indict Hillary. None. Book this. Hillary is not going to jail, not going to be indicted.
The Dems are all in on Hillary. We need to focus on her, not Trump, not Carson, not the clown car of Republican candidates. Hillary delenda est.

She's not breaking the law. Chief Justice John Roberts said so.
Unfortunately, she's got the unions, blacks, hispanics, women, millennials, Jews, and Wall Street. She's got California, the northeast, and the big cities: i.e the Electoral College. It doesn't matter what she's done, they'll vote for her regardless, at least in majorities. She's going to win.
So, buy your guns now. Ammo too.
Not answering the question next year on Form 1040 about health insurance, or answering incorrectly, might be a different matter.
Nobody else will challenge Hillary! This buffoon called Sanders will fade away after Iowa and New Hampshire, when he starts to get his ass kicked in every other state.
If Hillary! becomes POTUS, you can expect her to bomb the absolute fuck out of people over there. Which is a good thing.
Bob: I prefer to think that Biden picked up a copy of "The Peter Principle" and was self-aware enough to perform one of the promotion-avoiding evasions.
AllenS: Yes, I agree that the consequences of dissing HRC would be quite different from the consequences of dissing BHO. (Haven't I read recently that HRC is more of a "throw stuff" type? Unlike BHO, who is more of a "target of thrown stuff" type.)
I don't think Biden ever intended to actually run against Hillary!. Al his exploring, considering, fund raising and indecision are designed to place him as the party's fall back candidate if (when?) Hillary! craters, either because of the e-mails or some other scandal or because her polls sink so low, and her primary performance is so uninspiring it becomes clear she cannot be elected. That's why he is leaving the door open.
Hillary has the personality of Linda McMahon (failed Senate candidate twice) and is, amazingly, markedly sleazier than the head of the WWE.
"Unfortunately, I believe we're out of time," [Biden] said
A fitting epitaph for Slow Joe.
I do not buy the mourning for Beau explanation because a beloved son dying before his time is just as a good a justification for a presidential bid as an excuse for making the opposite choice. What I dread is the likely truth of the matter; Hillary and Obama have struck a deal.
#1 word for Hillary is still LIAR. She is still a crook.
I type in "Hillary Clinton is a" in my google search, and the top two autofills are:
'puppet' and 'corporate shill'
If I leave out 'Clinton', the fill-ins are:
'communist' 'neo-con' 'weak candidate' and 'hawk'
Biden is making a campaign speech because it's all he knows how to do.
Learn to love the cackle. It is with us at least through the election.
The fact that Biden announced this today, which is a major favor to Hillary, who is going to have to answer some uncomfortable questions today says, as mentioned above by Qwinn, all you need to know about whether there is a fix in or not.
They have been saving this announcement for maximum effect. Why wouldn't they? They are accomplished pros, after all.
Michael K
FBI can only refer the case to DOJ for prosecution.
Sister Lynch at DOJ makes the final call on indictment.
Aw, nuts.
I was kinda looking forward to Americas funny uncle running.
You yahoos are delusional. Do you really believe the FBI is going to throw the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election over what was at worst a technical bureaucratic violation? You are some dumb Althouse Hillbillies.
I think Joe's opening was a dramatic HRC revelation that's just going to be a trickle. The party and the media have no other plan, or desire. None. She's not reasonably appealing except only to the view that she's not a republican and will move forward on the track to more government/more free stuff. So its a matter of an alternative choice by the republicans. Seems safe to bet on her.
Once written, twice..., "Do you really believe..." is a stupid question. Look above. Reading is fundamental. Nobody here seems to think there's the slightest chance the DOJ will indict Hillary.
Agreed?
I think the DOJ probably should indict her. But you and I both know that's not gonna happen, and I think that's not good-- especially that it's so predictable.
The timing of this the day before the start of the Benghazi committee hearings can't be a coincidence. It signals the Democrats think Hillary is going to get past Benghazi and the email server issues.
Show's how bad things have gotten. People want plagiarizing, slow-Joe Biden to run for President. Where are the fresh Democrat party faces?
They have really become the party of Reaction and stale, old ideas.
Clinton against who? I hear Republicans will never give Trump the nomination and are going to be coming out with very negative ads. He would never be able to win against Hillary, even if he did get the nomination. Oh what a fine mess Republicans have gotten themselves into.
It signals the Democrats think Hillary is going to get past Benghazi and the email server issues.
At least that's the plan
Do you really believe the FBI is going to throw the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election over what was at worst a technical bureaucratic violation?
Here is the left and HuffPo personified. "A technical bureaucratic violation." Sort of like the Rosenbergs' minor violation of giving Stalin the A Bomb, All these national security issues are "bureaucratic" as they are what we also call "Laws."
We came close to electing Henry Wallace once. Why not again ?
The FBI is already being set up to be foiled. I wonder what the FBI Director will do if that happens ?
The Hillary fans are all ready to throw aside the law and national security. For what ?
A crony milker and bribe magnet. Well, the British did it with Corbyn. Why not ?
Suicide of the west.
Too bad. I was looking forward to having a Mensan in the White House. But seriously . . .
Maybe he got a call at three in the morning from one of the Clintons' "plumbers:"
RING-RING!
Biden (groggily): Huh . . . hullo??"
Voice on other end of line: Your cat Daisy? If you don't want her to end up with Kathleen Willey's cat and Vince Foster, bow out of the race--NOW. (Click.)
I know, I know: it's just a far-out scenario. Never could happen in a million years.
The chance of President Hillary just increased from 62% to 72%. Adjust your wagers accordingly.
I haven't listened to Biden's speech yet, but what about Beau?
It doesn't matter if Hillary is indicted. The Dems would still nominate her and many people (woman?) will still vote for her.
Crimes, lying, shame is no longer an impediment to a politician.
Hillary and the Dems will use their standard playbook that it wasn't her, everybody does it, "they" are out to get her, "they" just don't want a woman elected. Why didn't the Republicans say Rick Perry couldn't run while under indictment and blah blah blah. She will use everything and anything in her power to obstruct and delay until she can say "it's old news."
Sadly, voters will still vote for her. Never under-estimate partisanship or the ability to ignore inconsistent application of values/principles.
Those of you lamenting Hillary's! electoral college lock have forgotten that those groups of people actually have to show up to vote. I think 2016 turnout among Blacks and Hispanics is going to be down. No one REALLY wants to support Hillary!
Cleanup on aisle two...
AND: Why is he making a campaign speech?
He's like your crazy uncle in the attic. Ask him anything & you'll get the half-hour rant he's made over & over every time.
Birches, Republicans are notoriously bad prognosticators. I recall the Karl Rove meltdown on Fox News election night. You do not understand liberals, they will most definitely come out to vote for her against any Republican nominee, especially since the Republican Party has veered so far right.
"Those of you lamenting Hillary's! electoral college lock have forgotten that those groups of people actually have to show up to vote. I think 2016 turnout among Blacks and Hispanics is going to be down. No one REALLY wants to support Hillary!"
Normally this is true, but the Hillary campaign is going to scare those voters into voting not so much for her but to save them from the GOP, and the GOP in doing what it usually does will find a way to alienate those voters and do most of her work for her.
I'd like to see her strategy fail, not just because of the sort of president she'd be but because that sort of divisive strategy should never be rewarded. But part of the blame should be on the GOP for constantly dividing itself and hobbling its nominees--we're likely to see the GOP nominee with worse negatives than Romney had when he emerged from the primary.
Ann is currently skipping down some walking path with Meade, her version of a victory lab.
Now she gets to vote for Hillary in the general election while teasing you commenters with snipes about Ms. Inevitable. Will we hear about her secret crush on Rubio which will conflict her voting for her doppleganger?
Birches, I forgot to mention that if Trump is the Republican nominee Mexicans will come out in droves to make sure he isn't elected. Blacks prefer Hillary over Sanders. Remember Bill Clinton was the first "black" President.
Cleanup on aisle two...
Yeah. Not even a Full Moon.
George Mc,
"especially since the Republican Party has veered so far right."
This is wonderful. Hillary Clinton may well get the nomination, but she has been upstaged over and over again by a man elected to his Senate seat as an Independent because the Democratic Party was too far right for him. Now he fits right in and draws the biggest crowds, excites the true believers in a way she can't.
In Mark Steyn's comical inversion of the old Ronald Reagan quote, Sanders can boast: I didn't join my party, my party joined me. But it's the Republicans who've veered right.
The only reason for her to have a private email server was to give her the ability to destroy evidence. There is no other reason for her to take on that risk. Even Hillary knows that you will never be able to delete an email off a govt server.
It seems that Dems are fine with this. I think she stinks, but I have thought that ever since she defended the rapist.
The Republican Party has not shifted right. The main stream culture, as presented by the various forms of media has shifted left. I mean even Obama was against gay marriage seven years ago. But I guess we are talking a mountain/Mohamed type of situation.
tim in vermont,
"I think she stinks, but I have thought that ever since she defended the rapist."
Someone had to - and I hate to say that, but that's the way it's got to be. I won't this in itself against her.
What I will hold against her is her creepy self-satisfaction at how thoroughly she destroyed the alleged victim's credibility. Didn't seem to care at all whether the client was actually guilty. And after all, what difference, at this point, does it make?
"It seems that Dems are fine with this. I think she stinks, but I have thought that ever since she defended the rapist."
Unfortunately those of us who believe she is particularly disqualified from holding higher office are outnumbered by those who will under no circumstances allow the GOP to control both the White House and Congress.
Anyone paying attention knows she's untrustworthy, that she sells out anyone inconvenient, she has no core beliefs, and she's muddled up everything she's worked on in her adult life. They know she's a warmonger and the opposite of a civil libertarian. But they see the GOP and believe everything they value would be in jeopardy if the Republicans had the political power to implement their agenda. The irony is most Republicans don't believe their own party can implement any agenda.
A year out and there's no time.
It takes a village of Democrats to dream that one up...or believe it.
""I think she stinks, but I have thought that ever since she defended the rapist."
Someone had to - and I hate to say that, but that's the way it's got to be. I won't this in itself against her."
I thought Tim was referring to Bill Clinton.
I too don't blame a lawyer for defending a rapist as part of their job--everyone deserves legal representation and should be entitled to their rights as an accused person. But she was not obligated to help her husband destroy the reputations of every woman who got in his clutches. At least she could have sat those out.
"A year out and there's no time.
It takes a village of Democrats to dream that one up...or believe it."
It's true though--each state has primary filing deadlines, and if you want to compete in this day and age you need to raise a ton of cash, secure endorsements, recruit national and local staff, make media buys, round up and deploy volunteers, prepare position papers, and start meeting local poobahs as early as possible. It may be madness that this all takes so long (compared to the British system which is a few weeks) but that's how it is.
Do you really believe the FBI is going to throw the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election over what was at worst a technical bureaucratic violation?
Yes. Intentional and systematic ignoring of a system Progressives have formerly claimed was a key in clean government is nothing.
Nice to know.
I hear Republicans will never give Trump the nomination and are going to be coming out with very negative ads.
How much more negative can they go? It's not like he has skeletons left in his closet.
You do not understand liberals, they will most definitely come out to vote for her against any Republican nominee, especially since the Republican Party has veered so far right.
Studies indicate that while the GOP has moved right somewhat, the Dems have moved far more Left.
I'll remind you --- they have a Socialist running and the head poodle of the DNC cannot name a difference between Socialists and Democrats.
I too don't blame a lawyer for defending a rapist as part of their job
I will.
Because such kindness wouldn't be shown to a Republican lawyer.
"Because such kindness wouldn't be shown to a Republican lawyer."
Be that as it may, I don't want to let leftist hacks set the standard. There's enough real reasons to oppose Hillary I don't need to come up with unfair ones.
Be that as it may, I don't want to let leftist hacks set the standard. There's enough real reasons to oppose Hillary I don't need to come up with unfair ones.
However, laughing about it? Seems to cross the line from "unfortunate necessity of the job" to something a little...uglier, doesn't it?
She doesn't seem to have any regret about it.
For the record, I was speaking of Bill. But since we brought up the other rapist. Where does she get off laughing about it, and telling people he was guilty and bragging about dragging the 12 year old victim over the coals, same as they did Paula Jones and Juanita Broaddrick, Kathleen Wiley and the rest.
I think that laughing about it is sort of another sign that she is somewhere on the high functioning side of the autistic spectrum.
especially since the Republican Party has veered so far right.
This wouldn't be the GeorgeBMac that I've seen on other sites? Because the above is as delusional as the stuff he writes.
Blacks and Hispanics will turn out to vote for Free Stuff in the usual numbers. It's irrelevant who the Democrat's nominee is. Incredible that someone as boundlessly corrupt as Hillary is going to waltz into the White House.
If the Obama Gang wont run against Hillary's lead, when will the 2%ers in the GOP race fold up shop?
AND: Why is he making a campaign speech?
He's a politician. Shove a mic in his face and he'll start campaigning. It's a reflexive action.
One thing about it is that now the Republicans know who they are running against. Before there was a cloud of chaff candidates surrounding the flight of the buzzard.
I think Biden didn't ever want to run but Valerie Jarret wanted to stay in power and wanted Biden and pushed him. Now what? It's like the Persian court, trying to see what is going on among the eunuchs and the harem. But I just can't believe that Clinton could ally with Jarrett. Nor do I believe that the White House has enough dirt to sink Clinton who is known as what she actually is. Moreover she kept control of her emails. And she has Bill. I would prefer Bill Clinton on my side over Obama even though Obama is President because Obama is delusional while Bill is a deluder.
But a decent Republican candidate like Marco Rubio could win because there are real issues and they will get realer.
Jeebus, America, imagine going home to Hillary! every night.
Have you ever heard people laugh and cry at the same time?
That's me.
"However, laughing about it? Seems to cross the line from "unfortunate necessity of the job" to something a little...uglier, doesn't it?"
Well, that's another story--Hillary does have a cruel streak and it will be terrible when she takes power. There's a serious character defect with her.
Well, that's another story--Hillary does have a cruel streak and it will be terrible when she takes power. There's a serious character defect with her.
Make sure that story is repeated a lot by all candidates. I'm betting there is other unpleasantness. Hire Juanita Broadrick to do a commercial with Hillary's comments that rape victim has a right to be believed playing in the background.
"Make sure that story is repeated a lot by all candidates. I'm betting there is other unpleasantness. Hire Juanita Broadrick to do a commercial with Hillary's comments that rape victim has a right to be believed playing in the background."
This should be done by an outside group so they can get good and ugly and the nominee can "denounce" it (while calling attention to it). I thought Broaderick was dead though? Still, it is important to have effective ads hitting Hillary where her perceived strength is--her record with women and minorities. Chip away at that with outside groups, while the GOP nominee concentrates on getting his own positives up.
The other thing is the GOP needs a better nationwide ground game--organized groups in every community to spread messages among neighbors and friends, raise donations and canvas. And it's got to be all the time, not just election years. Hopefully they learned this from Obama.
Or repeat clip of her cackling "we came, we saw, he died" split screen with Qadaffi's corpse, Stevens' corpse, the 4yo Syrian boy's corpse.
Or "what difference does it make anyway" against wreckage of MH17, an Iranian missile test or gays hanging or some other outrage, a map with spreading area of Daesh control, antiquities destroyed...lines of Mexicans crossing the border vs lines of unemployment blacks...
Can't anyone here play this game?
"Or repeat clip of her cackling "we came, we saw, he died" split screen with Qadaffi's corpse, Stevens' corpse, the 4yo Syrian boy's corpse."
Add to that her blithe statement at the debate summing up the Libya intervention as giving that country its first free elections since 1951...then pointing out everything that happened to Libya afterwards. Make it part of a theme that each stage of Obama's foreign policy to which Hillary played a part has resulted in a less stable, less humanitarian world.
Again--hit at her "strengths", i.e. her experience. Show how she really handled the "3 AM call".
Brando, analysis is not the point. Althouse voters don't care for analysis, they'll notice the analyst has a button off and get lost in reverie. Short gut punches that anyone can easily understand and that are too stark to mediawash.
Maybe some graphics along the line of "connect the dots" showing How We Got Here and assessing her "achievements" in terms of deaths, refugees, quantifying the destruction come in the wake of her actions, the horrors, the torture and destruction she has loosed on the world.
Ooh, and candidates disavowing! Ooh, high principle! These allegations are shocking. I can't accept this without proof and without Mrs. Clinton's rebuttal.
Then the PAC rolls out the documentation.
Then James O'Keefe shock interviews her to get "her side of the story."
She could be smashed if the GOP had some talented brains on hand.
"Ooh, and candidates disavowing! Ooh, high principle! These allegations are shocking. I can't accept this without proof and without Mrs. Clinton's rebuttal."
The script writes itself: "I am running on the issues, not salacious scandals, and I think the fact that Ms. Clinton found humor in defending a child-rapist is really beside the point. And this video that is circulating showing her mocking the rape victim is just the sort of thing I don't want my campaign to be about! They really should take it off YouTube and also the website www.clintonrapist.org."
If the GOP could run a campaign the way the Clintons do, this might be an even fight.
By Jove, I think he's got it!
"her complicity in these unspeakable acts and the disastrous results of her policies... Well... These are very serious charges... But she must have her day in court..."
"her complicity in these unspeakable acts and the disastrous results of her policies... Well... These are very serious charges... But she must have her day in court..."
Or "look, we could talk all day about who defended rapists, trashed the reputation of sexual assault victims to protect her repeat-offender husband, who voted for the Iraq War and then proved she learned nothing by supporting the Libya debacle. But I want to make this campaign not about the past, but about the future! Because while my opponent seems attached to economic policies that seemed fresh in the 1930s and social policies that seemed fresh in the 1960s, I would like to usher in policies that reflect the world we live in in 2016."
It just writes itself.
Kooky conspiracy theory:
1: Biden announces he's out.
2: In January 2016 Obama Justice Department indicts Hillary for some of her email server related crimes
3: Biden steps back in to "save the Party".
1 means Clinton machine doesn't spend next 4 months trashing Biden. It also means Clinton Machine can't respond to charges in 2 by saying "Obama's just going after Hillary to help Biden".
3 only happens after the Clinton campaign completely implodes. Sure, Biden's only getting in really late. So? That's what all the "Super delegates" are for.
:-)
gregq just beat me to it.
Why wouldn't they? It worked in New Jersey. Toricelli is to Lautenberg as Hillary is to Biden.
