"For those who are going to celebrate Back to the Future day tomorrow (I'm planning to watch the whole trilogy in the theater)..."

"... here's an exhaustive list of parallels between the three movies," says my son John (with whom I watched all 3 "Back to the Future" movies many times).

What is the point, exactly, of celebrating BttF day?

Maybe I've become an old curmudgeon.

While I won't be participating in any of the events, I get them. The movies really resonated with the right age group. For me, it was Star Wars. I'm really geeking out on the new movies. ( I even liked the second three and don't hate Jar Jar)

These movies were seminal works of the 80's. Therefore big for my kids.

You don't hate Jar Jar?

I don't know if we can be friends.

I watched all three Back to The Future Movies a lot when I was a kid, but I have nothing planned for tomorrow. I guess I'm just old and tired.

Another one will be Los Angeles in November 2019. Don't think it will be raining that much (and where is my flying car)?

It's sort of like celebrating Christmas, only more real.

A real curmudgeon would have stopped at "point."

I know I would have.

But as for BttF day... LOL! Is that too curmudgeony?

No one who uses the horrid acronym "LOL" is a true curmudgeon.

I saw the First BTTF when it was released in the theaters. I enjoyed it, but I can't really can't recall if I saw the second one and I know I never saw the third one.

LOL is fine. Did it somehow get mixed up with America in your mind so now you despise it?

For some people they have 'their movie' more than 'their song'. I know a few couples for whom it is BttF.

When my friends Marty and Jenny got married they had a bit of a 'Back to the Future' theme to their wedding. They are unsurprisingly having a big themed Halloween party this year.

It's silly, and fun. A pleasant diversion. Sometimes we all need that.

The first one was terrific, IMHO. The second one was not so terrific, although it had some ingenious moments (such as when they overlap scenes and situations from the original with the new stuff). The third one made me think, "Thank goodness this franchise is finally over."

Never saw it the first time. Maybe I will.
