”Which brings us to an unfortunate incident that occurred on July 1, 2013, when RedState (somewhat behind the curve with respect to the other blogs) was getting on board with the idea that including an image with each post helped to generate traffic. In those early days in particular, whenever you were writing a story about a given topic the easiest thing was to do a google image search and pick an image that looked interesting that matched your topic. Getty Images was one of the earliest image providers that we had worked out a licensing agreement with, so anything tagged Getty was of special value. And so it came to be that one of our front page writers (not Erick, as the byline very clearly illustrates) wanted to write a story about Palin’s threat to go third party, which you can now view here. In writing the post, the author found an image through Google that was hosted at the Fiscal Times, which had a Getty Images stamp, and which looked for all the world to be legit. The photo, which you can see here(more on that in a second) I guess showed a hint of Sarah Palin’s alleged cleavage but would not have been immediately obvious to anyone as a fake or something designed to make her look like a bimbo. And so the image was used.
Palin fans, ever a sensitive bunch, immediately protested that the photo was fake. Erick, not having written the post, but having been inundated with Twitter complaints, inquired as to the origin of the photo, and was essentially shown that the photo was from the Fiscal Times and had a Getty Images stamp. Assuming (erroneously, as it turned out) that this was yet another instance of Palinistas being overly (and perhaps justifiably) prickly about public portrayals of Palin, we at RedState all initially blew it off. However, when it was uncovered that the photo actually was a photoshop, we promptly removed it, as you can see by the fact that the post is now blank (and has been since less than 48 hours after it was initially posted). Through it all, Erick never criticized Palin or her family, only her more enthusiastic and unreasonable supporters.”
Now this is the kind of thing Althouse apparently thinks people find interesting (along with "releases" from Titus): A trailer trophy's comments on the important issues of the day.
And Althouse wonders why people don't take her seriously.
It doesn't matter. Erickson has a right to protect the reputation of the event he's hosting. Not that Lil' Palin could ever accomplish even something as mundane that. And even Althouse can't host anything more than a blog-readers' "meet-up".
How many clicks and eyeballs, how much resulting revenue, was driven to redstate.com by Mr. Erickson's disinviting of Mr. Trump?
How much does that put him in the same boat as Mr. Trump, for whom all publicity is good publicity for the "Trump Brand," which comprises the vast majority of The Donald's claimed net worth?
I don't fault Mr. Erickson for disinviting Trump. I fault him for inviting Trump in the first place, and indeed, for promoting his candidacy. Having lain with this dog, it ill behooves him to complain of the fleas.
“He is tall, lean and blond, with dazzling white teeth, and he looks ever so much like Robert Redford. He rides around town in a chauffeured silver Cadillac with his initials, DJT, on the plates. He dates slinky fashion models, belongs to the most elegant clubs and, at only 30 years of age, estimates that he is worth ‘more than $200 million.’ ”
"And Althouse wonders why people don't take her seriously."
Some guy who posts rants here thinks Althouse has caused America's modern culture to become a sepsis, seemingly without much help.
As nasty as his comments are, at some level it must be interesting for our host to think there are people out there who think you alone are nearly omnipotent.
That's before the mental illness considerations come into play.
Yeah but what if Trump meant "little China girl" in this comment, how about that:
"China has been a frequent theme for Trump since he entered the 2016 presidential campaign, promising to be a tougher negotiator with Beijing in order to bolster the U.S. economy.
"We have so much power over China," he told CNN. "China has gotten rich off of us. China has rebuilt itself with the money it's sucked out of the United States and the jobs that it's sucked out of the United States."'
Any code-hearers around up in here to clarify?
The more you hate, the more your "interpretation" makes sense. Bristol doesn't sound like a hater to me.
I want to see Rosie O'Donnell's face when she reads that Bristol Palin thinks Erickson was wrong to say it was "awesome" for FOX to let Trump come on and bash her.
@Thorley, there were no other pictures of Sarah Palin that Erickson could have used instead of the one with all the cleavage? I call bulls**t on Erickson, on Wolf, and on you.
Coupla good points..my fave putting "war on women" in quotes. Erickson even on a good day comes across like an annoying blowhard. Conventional wisdom on projection suggests keeping him away from goats. But..Bristol calling someone out on hypocrisy? And that "revealing" pic? I can see why that could have been mistaken as real. Sara has made plenty of use of her good looks..even if she doesn't get a cut from the "Nailin' Palin" enterprise.
It seems Kelly is not above getting raunchy on the air. Here's an article on her tĂȘte-a-tit relationship with her husband, among other intimacies, during an appearance on the Howard Stern show:
These antics on the Right seem to be very well timed to hide the fact that Hillary's server is now being confiscated by the feds. As I've said often, only the Right can save Hillary's candidacy, and they seem intent on doing exactly that.
At this point, I'm passing into the stage of acceptance. Maybe Hillary won't do anything too terrible when she takes over! Okay, now I've crossed from acceptance to wishful thinking.
Funny how the strings of conspiracy theories start weaving around each other. Hillary has so many people on the Left and Right spooked. Is it the woman thing? Is it the fear of the centrist that is so ingrained with anyone in the grip of ideology? So the Right is behind Hillary? But it is Bill who got the Donald to run. Right? All of the craziness of the Clown Car is a Clinton plot to save Hillary from... wait for it... her EMAIL! The 10 oz elephant in the room. No difference between Hillary and a Republican says the so called "progressive" left. Really? Republicans do not think so. Maybe the whole election is just a ploy to get us to forget about Benghazi.
"All of the craziness of the Clown Car is a Clinton plot to save Hillary from... wait for it... her EMAIL!"
Er, that's not what I said--just that this timing is very unfortunate for those of us who think Hillary should be raked over the coals for violating the law. And the GOP seems pretty good at helping her out.

Brando, do you honestly think the press wouldn't find a way to not cover Hillary's email problem (which they have avoided for months even as it gets worse).
These are the same people who lost their shit over a fucking lion.
remember they apologized to Hillary, through their onbudsman a week or so, by contrast they never apologized to palin, about the account of the assault on her family, when she was out of town,
"Brando, do you honestly think the press wouldn't find a way to not cover Hillary's email problem (which they have avoided for months even as it gets worse)."
I'm sure many Clintonites would avoid it, but there's a lot of people in the press (even on the Left) who are not fans of Hillary both for her media brushoffs as well as her many sellouts of the Left. The Post is covering the e-mail flap at the top of the page. Plus, Obama has good reason to let her hang. But even if the media did want to hide this scandal, it would be much harder to do so if the alternative media (Fox, talk radio, blogs) and GOP candidates had their attention focused on it.

What she said.
Good for her. Talk about long memories.
Trump will find a place for Sarah Palin in his Administration. Secretary of Veterans Affairs sounds good.
Faux, because he employed sexism against Sarah Palin
Not according to Leon H. Wolf:

So no, he really didn’t.
Back-door effort talk Trump again, Jeez, Althouse is obsessed with the alpha male, Donald.
...which she will quit as soon as it tougher than rollin out of bed.
Erick Erickson loses a slap fight with Bristol Palin AND she comes off sounding like the reasonable one.
Trump is already performing miracles for the country. What more could he achieve if elected?

^^ So saying does not make me a fan of the young Ms. Palin's.
"And Althouse wonders why people don't take her seriously."
Who don't we take seriously ????
"Good days to be a Democrat."
Excepting Hillary of course. The FBI and Hillary are getting to know each other rather well these days.
Here's a twofer for Professor Ann - a 1973 NY Times article on Trump

Good days to be a Democrat
It's always a good day to be a Democrat.
Being a Democrat means never having to have a debate with fellow Democrats.
Being a Democrat means getting all the media coverage you want to criticize Republicans, but never having to be asked hard questions.
Being a Democrat means you can be as silly, air headed, outright stupid, as you want to be, and you'll never be called to task for it.
One of the Republicans, any of them, should run as a Democrat. Everyone would be amazed, where did this genius, god like, person come from?
They would win all 50 states.
Good days to be a Democrat
Yeah, what with the base's favorite candidate being the bitch of the BLM movement and all...

Yeah, they're trying to figure out how not to indict her.
I didn't know that Bristol had a blog, or that she could write. Cool. Maybe Bristol will be to Sarah what Rand is to Ron.
Most likely considering who runs the Bureau,
So Erickson as a 'white knight,' leaves a lot to be desired.
