The best thing I like about visiting NYC is leaving...............where normality seems to escape the lexicon.

"Young men, from 25 to 50..." I don't think of 50 as young. The collage of pictures may or may not be representative of what is on the scene but lots of the pictures were of men I would consider middle-aged--like me btw at 52.

Governors Island? God that place has become an annoying draw.

Shorts and a bow tie? Okay, I'll grant our hostess that sometimes shorts make men look like little boys.

I'm still not going to wear sweatpants at the gym in the summer.

Only one is. Mostly, they are quite enclosed, unusually enclosed, in fabric. It looks too hot.

It's steampunk cosplay.

Last week I saw a guy in what looked like a nice Italian suit, but with the slacks hemmed halfway up his calves. Geez. If you want people to stare at you, just wear a dress and be done with it.

Brooks Brothers keeps spamming me with email with pictures of fake father-and-son combos playing dress up together.

Times have changed.

This only shows that straight men aren't the only ones with bad taste in clothes.

Pants that expose the entire ankle are not an improvement on shorts.

Worse than shorts.

It's sad that so many men dress like boys. It's interesting that so many have bought in to the business casual, which was nothing more than a marketing ploy by Levi Strauss to save their corporation by pushing Dockers.

I happened to be looking at this just a few minutes ago. Impossible to keep both sets of images in my noggin at once.

Round these parts, we have the dapper days at Disneyland.

Economists resent the appropriation of the bow tie.

Gay men, not men.

Nothing wrong with that.

NYC dandies swaggering about like horny peacocks. No fashion-sense, bad fashion, and no sense, (given the weather).

Every man in the right side of that composite photo looks ridiculous.

I say that without waiver of my standing position in opposition to yours about men wearing shorts, though, Prof. Althouse: No one but a Pajama Boy or NYT male fashion model would wear a bow tie (acceptable) and sports coat (acceptable) with shorts (not remotely acceptable in this combination, even in Texas weather).

Put another way: If it's hot enough to justify wearing shorts -- as it is where I live at this very moment! -- then it's certainly more than hot enough to justify not wearing a coat or tie. And I'm in favor of broad and generously flexible standards regarding when and where it's hot enough to justify not wearing a coat or tie. (I say this as one obliged to wear coat and tie in court regularly, but that's air-conditioned, and I shed them when I leave it.)

So Peewee Herman is now a fashion icon?

still needs a shorts tag.

So Raj from the second season of The Apprentice has the last laugh. (A decade ago...) Or maybe Anthony Blanche from Brideshead Revisited.

Goofy, not classy.

The Times reaches its apex of comic schizophrenia when it flogs for the fashion industry.

I posit that men wearing suits without wearing socks are even greater affronts to civilization than are men in shorts.

...though the last photo in the video was darned adorable.

... no "Men in Shorts" tag love for this post?
