"The gunman wanted in the killing of nine people at a prayer meeting at a historic black church in this city’s downtown area was taken into custody Thursday morning in North Carolina."
Mr. Roof’s Facebook profile picture shows him wearing a jacket decorated with the flags of two former white supremacist regimes, in apartheid-era South Africa and in Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe....The link goes to the NYT where the top-rated comment — with 2,427 up-votes — sets out a bullet-point list of possible reasons why this happened:
“I have to do it,” the gunman was quoted as saying. “You rape our women and you’re taking over our country. And you have to go.”

Imagine that, people are politicizing a shooting again. How about we ditch the politics, treat these people as the scum they are and refuse ever to use their names and deny them the infamy they crave?
Or "Mentally ill individual whose sick motives and actions can't be extrapolated to other persons or groups."
I expect this to all end when we find out he's a registered Democrat with a Coexist bumper sticker on his Prius.
Well this is going to engender a thoughtful and meaningful exchange of views, innit?
He will be charged with killing a bunch of innocent people and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. If (when) he is found guilty, he should be sentenced to death and executed as soon as possible (months, not decades).
While hate was apparently the motivation for this senseless and inexcusable crime, it makes no real difference in the charge of multiple murders. All the blathering about hate crimes can't make a death sentence (and execution) more severe. What are you going to do, kill him again (or slower)?
Also - interesting to note the number of black friends he has on his FB page.
So...I assume we will be blaming all gay people for the guy who shot up the Family Resource Council....

So...
Eliminate the right to self-defence
Eliminate a free press
Eliminate free speech
Stop electing Democrats
Got it.

In the last one hundred years the greatest atrocities have taken place in Communist, Islamic, and African lands. The left has consistently said that we should not judge Communists, Muslims, or Africans by those crimes. Perhaps they could extend this courtesy to white supporters of the 2nd amendment.
Will we be seeing him on the cover of the Rolling Stone?
This may be the first crime of this type and magnitude in the United States in a long time that hasn't been committed by a Democrat. Expect 24/7 coverage on CNN until September.
God bless the victims and their families. Their tragedy is so senseless, and the crime couldn't be more repugnant.
what happened to batshit crazy?
Or just evil?
I gave a gun to our oldest boy on his 21st birthday.
But, he knew about gun safety. He had not (nor has he ever) exhibited symptoms of insanity. He had not expressed sympathy for racist movements. He had not been arrested (twice!) in the previous few months.
Had ANY of those statements been reversed I would have given him a different gift. FWIW he is a decorated LEO today.
Look at the violent rhetoric coming from leftists on their websites trying to take advantage of this. Unbelievable.
Viva 2nd Amendment.
I read that the shooter received a .45 pistol for his 21st birthday. In retrospect probably not a good gift idea.
His jacket appears to have a orange, white, and blue South African Boer flag. The green and white flag maybe for Zimbabwe.
So to recap lots of NYT readers are eager to use mass murder to further their political agenda.
Whoever could have guessed?
Conspicuously absent from the NYT up-voted list are the folowing:
@ No justice no peace
Don't protesters understand that the "no peace" phrase is wide open to interpretation? Too bad our president has been stoking tensions between races for eight years now.
Sorry, that isn't the hair cut of a good ole boy. It's the haircut of an wannabe Emo Anarchist more interested in how he looks to the world than anything else. Waiting for the next shoe to drop (somewhere outside the earshot of the Main Scream Media no doubt).
Yup, always gotta be right wing causing issues. Yup. Every time.
Hey, weren't the white supremacists in the US Democrats? Why, yes, yes they were.
What, there are limits to defining one's own concept of existence, of meaning, of the universe, and of the mystery of human life? Capital punishment might even be in order?
I'm no phrenologist, but looking at that gaze I'd say he did it
Somehow he reminds me Adam Lanza. Maybe it's the little boy haircut or the dead eyes.
"So to recap, lots of NYT readers are eager to use mass murder to further their political agenda."
So that means they'll come out foursquare against socialism, Marxism and Communism, right? Because those mass murderers' tolls are in the millions. If only the general public was as enlightened as our university campi, where Marxism (the ultimate in macroaggression) has been thoroughly discredited and ostracized.
What a horrible tragedy. How stupid and weak we are as a people. The Islamic State isn't Islamic, guns cause people to kill people, and right wing news is saying go forth and kill black people.
Stand up and fight this nonsense folks. It's going to have to be done in public and to their faces.
Everyone is on Facebook these days.
The Islamic State isn't Islamic, guns cause people to kill people, and right wing news is saying go forth and kill black people.
I'm sorry, come again?
EMD,
You totally missed what I am saying. Re-read it.
I kind of expected this to be more Christianity related than race related but it appears I was wrong. Maybe just another crazy kid..... I do dread the relentless political posturing of the progressives over this but if you step back and think about it, if there wasn't this tragedy then it would be something else. They would just go back to claiming the Republicans want to take away birth control or something. Woman, Gays, Climate, Race, Repeat.....The problem with progressives is it doesn't really matter where the line is drawn becaus they continue trying to push beyond it. Evil is relentless and corrosive.
WTF is with all these murderous young men with the Ritalin stares and Prince Valiant haircuts? And there is a little evil synchronicity with Pontifex publishing his marxist encyclical on the same day, when he should be calling the faithful to spiritual renewal.
Best solution remains: to stop a bad person with a gun, better have a good person with a gun, close by
Well, now that "right wing nut job" is a word that means, anybody who thinks government power ought to be limited in any way, when we get an actual "right wing nut job" in the traditional meaning of the word, their is no linguistic way in NewSpeak for us to disown him. We can roundly condemn him, call for his execution, bemoan the stupidity of an uncle who gave a twice arrested boy a gun, but we own him because they say we do.
You have to hand it to the left.
The Reichstag Fire, the Kirov assassination, they too served their purpose.

Sadly, readers of the NYT believe this. These "smart" NYT readers are
predictably and remarkably ignorant and stupid.

I was thinking more along the lines of Ismaaiyl Brinsley. No doubt NYT commenters accepted full responsibility for his murders due to their inflammatory and ultimately erroneous framing of the Michael Brown case. Funny, but I don't recall anyone on the left accepting that reasoning.
The NYT article is here, but they either didn't allow or no longer show comments. I wonder why?
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/12/21/nyregion/two-police-officers-shot-in-their-patrol-car-in-brooklyn.html
Delusional comment at the NYT, but very glad he's been apprehended.
Since the Reconstruction persecution in southern states many KKK connected with authority under weird free mason rituals have been welcoming the conspiracy theorists starting with Nazi Eugenics and ending with John Burch anti-communism insanity This convert acted on that ideology lurking around him.
And seriously anyone being suckered into a whites an versus blacks war is in danger of ignoring this evil and they are giving it aid and comfort.
MLK was the good man that all races, mixed or pure, need to be listening to.
Sadly, there is a long history of white supremacists shooting up, bombing, or setting fire to african-american churches in South Carolina, and most of the other former slave states. This sort of thing is very familiar to non-whites. (if you live in Wisconsin, ask the next Sikh you meet if he found this attack surprising.)

Never let a crisis go to waste...
Tg, it's probably better to just let you rant and rave but this time, literally, wtf are you trying to say? You are incoherent.
Sounds like having been arrested (and currently under felony indictment) for possessing cocaine, methamphetamine and LSD could be a clue as to why this guy went insane and did what he did.
"Sadly, there is a long history of white supremacists shooting up, bombing, or setting fire to african-american churches in South Carolina, and most of the other former slave states."
I am trying to remember the last time this happened. Perhaps you can help?
Tim in vermont,
I think Limbaugh was covered in bullet point 1.
But as for "Foaming-at-the-mouth incitements to racism," what would those be? I heard plenty of incitement to riot this past year, but I've haven't heard a FATM incitement to racism in many decades. I must not get around much.
Sadly, there is a long history of white supremacists shooting up, bombing, or setting fire to african-american churches in South Carolina, and most of the other former slave states.
There's a more lethal history of black communities slaughtering one another en masse on a daily basis.
And tradguy, I got NO idea what you're trying to say.
Here's my answer, I guess.
"As recently as the 1990s, a wave of fire-bombings hit black churches."
CWJ said...
But as for "Foaming-at-the-mouth incitements to racism," what would those be?
This is NYT readers' description of the Equal Protection clause.
Or, some people are just plain nuts (e.g., James Eagan Holmes, Jared Lee Loughner).
South Africa was not a pure "apartheid" nation, but it did exclude Mandela's faction (a la Hamas), and international left-wing interests. Rhodesia had an economy that employed both native white and black people in a productive economy. With the establishment of Zimbabwe, the former, but also the latter, were slaughtered for progress sake. Not unlike the means and outcome in South Africa. Followed by the introduction of a "trillion dollar" note to seal their fate.
As for the murder in North Carolina, due process, and upon conviction, abortion... I mean, capital punishment. Also, upholding the Second Amendment to recognize and enable law-abiding citizens to carry out self-defense as first responders.
"Sadly, there is a long history of white supremacists shooting up, bombing, or setting fire to african-american churches in South Carolina, and most of the other former slave states."
Yeah, it's probably about time that Republicans took that plank out of their party platform. LOL
While this undoubtedly has a history, the intent of the commenter to tar his political opponents is just base political opportunism. And disgusting.
Since there can be no principled objection to liberal policies and since that those policies advance the well being of black Americans is beyond question, anybody who opposes these policies is a racist.
It's not that hard to find "foaming at the mouth racism" Did you vote for Romney? Busted!
Yeah, it's probably about time that Republicans took that plank out of their party platform.
Heck, they still get whiny when you mention what the political party was of the people who committed those bombings.
Note: in the 1960's, there was basically no Republican Party in the South.
And the real answer is that the young man is likely mentally ill.
The Daily Mail said...
'I never heard him say anything, but just he had that kind of Southern pride, I guess some would say. Strong conservative beliefs,' he said. 'He made a lot of racist jokes, but you don't really take them seriously like that. You don't really think of it like that.'
I am reassured that the problem is not the culture. Not the culture. Not the culture. Let me repeat, not the culture. Just a lone nut, just a lone nut. Not the culture. Not the culture.
Original Mike,
I remember that well, and I also remember that the meme of white racists burning black churches got WAY out in front of the facts. Note that while ominously invoking a wave of fire bombings and congressional investigation, The Atlantic author offers nothing of substance while blithely stating a wave not just of church fires, which they were, but of "fire bombings" no less. Fire bombings so heinous that The Atlantic author cites neither suspects, arrests, prosecutions, nor convictions. Those fire bombing racists sure are a crafty bunch.
I am reassured that the problem is not the culture. Not the culture. Not the culture. Let me repeat, not the culture. Just a lone nut, just a lone nut. Not the culture. Not the culture.
Up yours, sideways, with a swordfish, ARM. For even hinting that southern culture is to blame for this makes you scum. People tell racist jokes all the time and yet don't walk into a black church and gun people down.
Black people kill each other in WAY higher numbers on a daily basis in this country, but if anyone decides to point out problems with that particular culture, spineless liberals like yourself are quick to point out that it's racist to say.
You, like other liberals, are flat-out hypocrites, and you should all be called out for it on a daily basis.
Colin Ferguson and Aaron Alexis. Not the culture. Not the culture. Not the culture.
So the problem is the culture ARM?
Well, that's racist according to your standard. Cultures can't be judged. So too fucking bad for you.
How is this any less stupid or disgusting than a right winger blaming feminism for an increase in gang violence?
The person to blame for a shooting spree is--shocker!--the shooter. Could this have been prevented if the shooter had no access to guns? Sure, but with hundreds of millions of private guns in this country (both legal and otherwise) good luck eliminating them. Could this person have been inspired by right wing radio? Sure, to the same extent you could blame mass media, including violent movies and video games. I don't really listen to talk radio, but please let me know if Limbaugh did any broadcasts (among three decades of them) where he said anything remotely close to "damn black people, someone should go shoot them up in their church!"
Or are we back to saying it's all "dog whistling"? It's hard for me to keep up with the rank opportunism.
It's sad enough this disturbed thug went and took several lives to fulfill his hate and delusions. Don't make it worse by trying to use this for your political agenda.
I am reassured that the problem is not the culture. Not the culture. Not the culture. Let me repeat, not the culture. Just a lone nut, just a lone nut. Not the culture. Not the culture.
You know why THIS is news and, say, the mass killings in Chicago and Baltimore rarely pierce the national consciousness?
Because this IS quite unusual.
Stuff that happens a lot isn't news.
I am reassured that the problem is not the culture. Not the culture. Not the culture. Let me repeat, not the culture. Just a lone nut, just a lone nut. Not the culture. Not the culture.
That we are shocked by this disgusting - and exceedingly rare - occurrence is prima facie evidence that it is...wait for it...not the culture.
You said that already. Oh wait, Storm Door isn't a Muslim. (or is he?)
NYT comments are always depressing. The parochialism, bigotry, and plain stupid on display makes me despair for my country.

I think that might be a bumper sticker I see every now and then.
Charleston Mayor reported to have said "far too many guns out there." Methinks zero guns in the hands of crazies is unachievable.
Indeed. France has some pretty stringent gun control laws yet Charlie Hebdo still had a problem earlier this year.
And, as for Obama and his "This kind of violence just doesn't occur elsewhere" bullshit, read the above, you fucking shit.
For background, an Us Against them loyal follower mindset
is an easy mind to control with faulty enemy identification signals. Lawyers meet the bias that we are the enu all of the time.
Herbert Hoover played with
That easy way to take power over identifying the wrong enemies. Tail gunner Joe made a brief career from it too.
That is all I was
talking about. Sorry for confusing people.
"Because this IS quite unusual."
I'll note something else--there was a time of course when wanton killing of blacks by whites WAS the "culture"--Emmett Til being viciously tortured and murdered, ostensibly because he "whistled" at a white woman, and the authorities doing nothing to find the killers and bring them to justice. Such violence was a regular occurrence, and worse, the law turned a blind eye. That was the "culture".
The fact that this sort of shooting made big news (unlike say the near daily murders in Baltimore) says a lot about how rare this is, even in the South, and the fact that the authorities (including local and state authorities) acted quickly to find this guy, and it seems even white southern conservatives are disgusted by what this guy did, says a lot--it says the "culture" today is clearly against this type of thing.
But hey, I get that the Left was greatly disappointed when the Tucson shooter, the Boston marathon bomber, and the Sandy Hook shooters all failed to turn out to be right wing tea partiers, so of course they're thrilled that this killer seems to be a white racist. Think for a minute how sick it is to be pleased by any aspect of this. The only good news here is that they caught the guy so quickly.
"Or are we back to saying it's all "dog whistling"? It's hard for me to keep up with the rank opportunism."
It's hard for you to rank the opportunism? Completely understandable with the competition so fierce.

"No blame for the "rape culture" hysteria?"
Clearly he was motivated by the 1 in 5 statistic! He did of course blame "rape" first. But I'm sure the fauxminists would point out that the "rape culture" is clearly just the "white male rape culture" because they don't want to run afoul of their SJW allies.
What is ridiculous here is that you guys have planted acres of the internet with your untethered by any actual knowledge thoughts on all the problems that beset black culture. Acres and acres. Yet, white culture is failing in the US, particularly younger white males, who seem to have collectively lost the plot. This might suggest, to some, that a little humility would not be out of place. And, maybe a little introspection. The intellectual competitiveness of our country is declining both relatively and I suspect absolutely, yet you guys think you have done a great job. Your smug, complacent, self-congratulatory, nothing-wrong-with-us attitude is a major contributor to this decline.
Currently we have as a viable candidate for President a guy who was too lazy to finish college and is now attempting to 'fix' one of the best universities in the country, while much of the rest of his state is in chronic disrepair. Cultural signalling outweighs commonsense or even basic prioritization. That Walker could be considered a serious candidate for the presidency says everything you need to know about the decline of white culture and the rise of regressive anti-intellectualism. The US was once the intellectual leader of the world. It was a brief reign.
As I posted at the NY Times...
So, the top-rated comment blames:
* Politicians
* The Media
* Incitements to Racism
* The Economy
The same list we could turn to when tossing out motivations for the next shooting of a police officer. Or the next race riot. It's a handy, all-purpose list.
While the left decides that today is a good day to bring up political issues that are only in the most tangentially related way part of this tragedy...
Let's discuss the Death Penalty!
How many lefties today can we find today who are against the death penalty but either expressed a hope today that the perp would be shot and killed or didn't say nothing to those who did explicitly say so?
Or for that matter, how many who today were totally down with police using deadly force on an 'alleged' criminal?
C'mon, ARM, let's have a conversation!
The intellectual competitiveness of our country is declining both relatively and I suspect absolutely, yet you guys think you have done a great job. Your smug, complacent, self-congratulatory, nothing-wrong-with-us attitude is a major contributor to this decline.
In a perfect correlation with an increasing demographic share held by non-white, non-English speaking people.
Hey man, you brought it up. Let's discuss.
"The intellectual competitiveness of our country is declining both relatively and I suspect absolutely, yet you guys think you have done a great job."
We? We haven't presided over that. The decline pretty much tracks with the takeover of the universities by the left wing grievance industry. We were competitive when we focused on achievement - physics, math, history, literature. The decline really accelerated when achievement was traded for grievances and real classes were traded for "studies" classes. Look in the mirror if you want to catch the culprit in that fiasco.
Oh, Look! Another idiotic, race-obsessed post from ARM!
The intellectual competitiveness of our country is declining both relatively and I suspect absolutely, yet you guys think you have done a great job.
Hey, don't blame us, man. It's the libtards who currently control the teachers unions, the education profession and academia. The worst-performing schools are routinely in Democrat-controlled districts.
If the intellectual competitiveness of our country is declining, it's your fucking doing, not ours.

Unbelievable.
I've already offered Meade a free jar of blackface for his incredible work with Crack, which proved what a wonderful person Meade must be for whatever incredible favors he conferred upon Crack. Mighty white of Meade.
Now, I'm ready to offer a free case of blackface to ARM for his sheer all around wonderfulness and concern for blacks and his endless condemnation of whites... well, all the whites except for him, of course. Mighty white of ARM.
ARM is the best white guy in America! I mean, he says so, so who am I to argue? ARM is one of the good whites! He is absolved of the collective guilt that you and I must bear, because he's just so fucking pure and he loves blacks so much!
Meade and ARM, I salute you! Mighty white of you to be such wonderful Friends of the Blacks!
Please send me your addresses so that I can get these jars of blackface to you ASAP!
ARM's depressing commentary is downright gleeful.
@Rick,
The funny thing is that he doesn't even have the dimmest glimmering that you might have a possible point.
That's because the New York Times is a hate site, and famously, consumers of hate literature don't believe it is hate. They believe that it is enlightened and that it elevates them. Seriously, they get a little frisson of superiority over ever comment that a neutral observer would find hateful.
Bigots don't feel low, they feel superior all the time.
"Currently we have as a viable candidate for President a guy who was too lazy to finish college..."
You are so cheesy (no offense, Wisconsin).
Walker's history has been discussed in-depth on this blog. Go read the Politifact article about him. Nowhere does it suggest he quit school because he was lazy. The Politifact article says he was running for political office (and working full-time) shortly after leaving school and knocked on 13,000 doors in a losing bid. Yeah, he was lazy. Don't be a tool. Facts are your friend.
What is ridiculous here is that you guys have planted acres of the internet with your untethered by any actual knowledge thoughts on all the problems that beset black culture. Acres and acres.
Vague, at best. Pick an item and argue it.
Yet, white culture is failing in the US, particularly younger white males, who seem to have collectively lost the plot.
OK, we agree on the effect. But strangely enough, it is your side that needs to look in the mirror to see the cause of this. The Great Society programs of the 1960's not only ruined the black family, but after 50 years, is now ruining the white family. That's just one cause. Another is the radical feminist agenda being pushed in the schools, which is one of the direct causes of young men starting to tune out of the world.
This might suggest, to some, that a little humility would not be out of place. And, maybe a little introspection.
Classic projection. Your side ought to be doing this, because of what I already said - you're the cause.
The intellectual competitiveness of our country is declining both relatively and I suspect absolutely, yet you guys think you have done a great job.
All we're trying to do is stick our fingers in the dam while your side keeps firing missiles into it. What the hell do you expect us to do?
Your smug, complacent, self-congratulatory, nothing-wrong-with-us attitude is a major contributor to this decline.
More projection. No one is more smug, complacent and self-congratulatory than a liberal progressive. No one.
Currently we have as a viable candidate for President a guy who was too lazy to finish college and is now attempting to 'fix' one of the best universities in the country,
Huh? Finish college? Please. Most people who have a good work ethic and didn't even go to college are smarter, and more common sensical than most people who graduated from college.
Dude, here's a little news for you: you aren't qualified to wear Scott Walker's jockey shorts. He's forgotten more about the real world than you'll ever know. So before you start pointing fingers, maybe you ought to look in the mirror. I'm beginning to see a common theme in your comment with all of this holier-than-thou bluster.
while much of the rest of his state is in chronic disrepair.
Nope. The prior administrations in Wisconsin get blame for that. All Walker's trying to do is fix it.
Cultural signalling outweighs commonsense or even basic prioritization.
Hah! More projection.
The US was once the intellectual leader of the world. It was a brief reign.
Yup. When Teddy Roosevelt, Wilson, FDR, LBJ and now Obama put their policies in place, the country's intellectual prowess was further eroded each time.
Progressivism is at fault for every single thing that's gone wrong with regards to your screed, yet you don't have the stones to see that, even though the evidence is plainly obvious and right in front of you.
Reasonable my ass.
ARM,
You are using obtaining a college degree as a way to judge work ethic? Seriously?
If this kid was on anti-depressants, giving him a .45 for his birthday was pretty stupid.
While the Charleston Mayor and the media immediately blamed the Second Amendment, and used this latest tragedy to advocate further gun control, those familiar with the MO of mass shooters in cases like this will be asking whether anti-depression drugs are once again involved.
As CCHR documents, psychiatric drugs have been involved in at least 31 different school shootings and other massacres over the last 25 years.
Despite it being reported that prescription drugs were found in the apartment of ‘Batman’ shooter James Holmes days after the Aurora massacre, it took nine months to find out exactly what those drugs were. Like Columbine killer Eric Harris, Holmes had been taking Zoloft, an SSRI drug linked with episodes of mania.
The connection between Zoloft and violent outbursts is well documented. Countless studies identify Zoloft as being responsible for more than 1,000 suicides and hundreds of episodes of mania and aggression.
There was also an apparent attempt to shield information concerning whether or not Sandy Hook gunman Adam Lanza was taking psychiatric drugs. In September 2013, we reported on the State of Connecticut refusing to release Lanza’s medical records over fears that divulging the identity of the antidepressants he was taking would, “cause a lot of people to stop taking their medications,” according to Assistant Attorney General Patrick B. Kwanashie.
Fort Hood gunman Ivan Lopez, who shot dead three colleagues and injured 16 others before turning the gun on himself in April last year, was also taking psychiatric medication before the shooting. Staff Sgt. Robert Bales was also taking anti-depressant drugs when he massacred 16 Afghan civilians in 2012.
As the website SSRI Stories profusely documents, there are literally hundreds of examples of mass shootings, murders and other violent episodes that have been committed by individuals on psychiatric drugs over the past three decades. The number of cases is staggering, but the media has completely failed to generate a national conversation about the issue due to its obsession with exploiting mass shootings to demonize the Second Amendment.
Pharmaceutical giants who produce drugs like Zoloft, Prozac and Paxil spend around $2.4 billion dollars a year on direct-to-consumer television advertising every year. By running negative stories about prescription drugs, networks risk losing tens of millions of dollars in ad revenue, which is undoubtedly one of the primary reasons why the connection is habitually downplayed or ignored entirely.

what happened to batshit crazy?
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration sez:
"The discrimination and stigma associated with batshit crazy largely stem from the link between batshit crazy and violence in the minds of the general public, according to the U.S. Surgeon General (DHHS, 1999). The belief that batshit crazy persons are dangerous is a significant factor in the development of stigma and discrimination (Corrigan, et al., 2002)."
Or just evil?
There's no evidence yet beside his hair-do that he is a Democrat.
"Quiet and soft spoken" "Used drugs a lot"
Sounds pretty typical for crazed killers.
kid was doing lots of hard drugs and on SSRIs... well guess what, hard drugs alter your brain chemistry and also alter the effects of such medicines.
ARM: The intellectual competitiveness of our country is declining both relatively and I suspect absolutely...
Well whaddaya think was gonna happen when you spend half a century denigrating and emasculating the crazy, can-do white boys who made this country great? That is what you're getting at, right? After all, a learned intellectual like you surely knows it's not white yoofs dragging down the national averages in international testing.
...the decline of white culture and the rise of regressive anti-intellectualism. The US was once the intellectual leader of the world. It was a brief reign.
Wow, ARM, you're really going there. We need policies to restore the ascendancy of white culture and make sure America becomes once again and remains a white super-majority nation! You know, the way things were during its brief reign as the intellectual leader of the world. "ARM, white supremacist"! Who knew?
"The link goes to the NYT where the top-rated comment — with 2,427 up-votes — sets out a bullet-point list of possible reasons why this happened:
• Hysterical, hate-mongering right-wing TV "news," talk show hosts, web sites"
Actually, it is much more plausible that his anger and rage was driven by left-wing hate-media which is far more prevalent to the point of ubiquity, which is strident and open in its disdain and contempt for white males, and which is relentless in its unbridled hostility and appeals for payback and retribution. Look no further than the ignorant hateful ravings of progressive asshole A Reasonable Man for the fruits of their demented demagoguery. This schmuck Storm is a product of the democrat party propaganda and their racist progressive narrative.
Wow, ARM, I would note that both the boomerangs you threw did exactly what the rest of us expected and came back to hit you smack in the face, but appropriating a cultural symbol of aboriginal Australians in an analogy is probably cultural imperialism, or something.
What is ridiculous here is that you guys have planted acres of the internet with your untethered by any actual knowledge thoughts on all the problems that beset black culture.
Yes, basic statistics are just too difficult to be comprehended.
Yet, white culture is failing in the US, particularly younger white males, who seem to have collectively lost the plot. This might suggest, to some, that a little humility would not be out of place.
Because, certainly, we have championed the culture that has decided that drugging boys is a solid gameplan and insuring that ruining a man's life only requires an unproven allegation for an unbalanced girl. How dare we come up with such an asinine culture?
In case you missed it --- we've criticized that culture. A lot.
You, on the other hand, have been quiet...
The intellectual competitiveness of our country is declining both relatively and I suspect absolutely, yet you guys think you have done a great job. Your smug, complacent, self-congratulatory, nothing-wrong-with-us attitude is a major contributor to this decline.
Yes, our arrogant "teach all kids that they are excellent and amazing and that any failures aren't their fault unless they're evil white boys" mentality was sure a poor idea.
Currently we have as a viable candidate for President a guy who was too lazy to finish college
Who? I know one who got a full time job instead of finishing.
Are you one of those intellectually lazy types you criticize so?
is now attempting to 'fix' one of the best universities in the country, while much of the rest of his state is in chronic disrepair.
Shouldn't colleges handle tenure and not the state government?
And if Milwaukee can't get their shit together, that seems like a local concern.
But your white supremacy is noted. I don't feel there is any need for white guilt, but I'm not huge on white supremacy. ARM, on the other hand...
You of course will all be glad to know (and you won't be surprised) to learn that The Won has said, "Let me be clear, these mass shootings don't occur in other countries."
Well, "excuse me" said the folks at Charlie Hebdo; the 50 or so children shot up on an island off (Swedend? Norway?) a couple of years ago might differ. And any number of folks slaughtered by Boko Haram, ISIS, or blown up by a bomb on a Madrid commuter train might disagree.
For a smart feller, The Won apparently never took a history course, and he's not so sharp on current events.
The South Carolina police are to be congratulated for being able to overcome for a brief moment their obvious racism and moving to quickly arrest this shooter.

It's easy for people to forget things they don't care about. And ultimately there are plenty of people who only care about events to the extent they support their social or political views.
Most Americans will remember Obama as the worst President of their lifetimes. He's dumb as a post, yet more confident than a Yorky.
Did "crazy bastard" make the list?
So, as usual, no substantive response. It's not our fault, it's never our fault and it will never be our fault. More guns and beer, that'll fix it.
Can't say I didn't try. I'm currently trying to convince my youngest kid to learn Mandarin. I suspect she'll need it.
Sorry for this interruption to our scheduled service we will return to talking about the problems of black people in just one moment. A further 14 post on the befrazzled Ms Dolezal are cued and ready to go. There can never be too much race talk.
Check to see what psychotropic drugs he is on.
Only a matter of time before they blame Sarah Palin
Who are you talking to, ARM? Who do you think was at fault for this? You must have some idea. Michael K? Bob Ellison? Me? Maybe Rush Limbaugh or Sarah Palin?
So, as usual, no substantive response. It's not our fault, it's never our fault and it will never be our fault. More guns and beer, that'll fix it.

It is "our" fault, for voting in progressives for the past 100 or so years, who then caused all of the bad things you listed in your post. Your prescription is more of the same.
"Check to see what psychotropic drugs he is on"
ARM or the Roof kid?
What the hell is up with kids named Dylann?
It's not our fault, it's never our fault and it will never be our fault.
Yep. Yep. Yep! I blame FDR personally.
I got you linked up, Althouse: 'Dylann Roof, Southern Democrat Throwback, is Drug-Addled 'Wannabe Emo Anarchist' with Androgynous Haircut'.
Southern Democrat!

The Won has said, "Let me be clear, these mass shootings don't occur in other countries."
Not only do mass shootings occur around the world despite tough gun laws, when evil/crazy doesn't have access to guns it uses machetes instead. Do you think that British soldier, or all those Africans gave a shit that they were killed with machetes instead of guns?
Six months after the Charlie Hebdo attacks in France, the leader of the Free World has this to say about the North Carolina mass shooting:
"Let's be clear —this kind of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries, it doesn't happen in other places with this kind of frequency."
And he starts by saying "let's be clear." How Orwellian.
Obama has a brain like a very small turnip.
I am reassured that the problem is not the culture. Not the culture. Not the culture. Let me repeat, not the culture. Just a lone nut, just a lone nut. Not the culture. Not the culture.
Which culture is sicker and causes more misery and death:
Southern White culture or inner city Black culture?
More black people will be murdered by gang violence in this country in the next 24 hours than were murdered in this despicable massacre.
And the 24 hours after that.
And the 24 hours after that.
Until who knows when.
ARM wants to talk about allegedly conservative allegedly white people being mean and stupid and racist because they talk about the daily massacre of blacks. Which they have never spoken of approvingly here.
Methinks he's missing the problem. Which is people being massacred every single day. Not allegedly white allegedly conservative people wanting to talk about it.
Oh! These people with their beautiful golden souls, to be taken away by a black hearted man.
They took him in and he killed them anyway. They were doing good, and he looked in their faces of love, and could only hate.
God bless them. God bless us all, when the best of us are taken away.
I was pretty sure I had nothing in common with the readers of the New York Times.
Now I am sure of it.
My employment in silicon valley put me in touch with many educated, supposedly brilliant people. Many times I would shake my head and roll my eyes at the ignorance, lack of common sense, and outright stupidity of engineers, professors, doctors, lawyers, etc.
I am embarrassed to admit feeling a sense of superiority and smugness after dealing with these elites.
There are several commenters here who always bringg a smile to my face and brighten my day with their ridiculous perspective.
I notice the killer had a fondness for Rhodesia. Country founded by creator of Rhodes scholorship. Bill Clinton and Rachel Maddow have that connection to the poor drugged mentally ill boy.
Rumor has it the poor guy was replaced on his menial job by an un-documented worker.
We have a boy in the neighborhood named Dillon. He spelled it in the snow at the bus stop, and I said most guys spell it differently. He said, "Guys who spell it wrong."
Great guy. Always nice to the younger kids on the bus.
Six months after the Charlie Hebdo attacks in France, the leader of the Free World has this to say about the North Carolina mass shooting:
Remember, he didn't go to France about that. We were the one country with no major leaders involved in the march.
"Let me be clear, these mass shootings don't occur in other countries."
Did he say that?
I can handle ignorance. I can deal with anti-Americanism. It's the ignorant anti-Americanism I can't stand.
FullMoon wrote: I notice the killer had a fondness for Rhodesia. Country founded by creator of Rhodes scholorship. Bill Clinton and Rachel Maddow have that connection to the poor drugged mentally ill boy.
Cecil Rhodes funded his scholarships from the fortune he made in diamonds, diamonds ripped from the Womb of Mother Earth by the manacled hands of African laborers who often worked and lived in conditions of penal servitude. Among Rhodes recorded sayings are such revelatory quotes as “The native is to be treated as a child and denied the franchise. We must adopt a system of despotism in our relations with the barbarians of South Africa,” and the succinctly phrased “I prefer land to niggers.”
That Rachel Maddow has not launched herself from a 70th story window at 30 Rockefeller Center in unspeakable remorse is beyond me. The morals of the Left are elastic to say the least.
Norway is not an "advanced country"?
They are not going to like to hear that!
Come to think of it, by this time, every European country we get news from has had at least one mass shooting event.
Mr. Obama's staff is not very careful about what they let him say in public.
Rachel Maddow, LBJ, FDR, progressives, Bill Clinton, and blacks themselves are to blame for this massacre. Unless I missed any.
Let me be clear. In this country we have no Government sponsored mass beheadings on our beaches - at least none that the Government has made public information videos about.
Good thing a convicted felon could never get his hands on a gun. That's illegal.
Why, ARM, does she have some technology they need to steal.?
What do you want the group to take responsibility for, ARM? Your abysmal lack of character?
Rachel Maddow, LBJ, FDR, progressives, Bill Clinton, and blacks themselves are to blame for this massacre. Unless I missed any.
You missed the shooter. Of course.
You missed the shooter. Of course.
And Obama. Of course.
garage - are Republicans to blame for the shooter? Just answer me.
Y'all are in denial about mass violence in America. We are a far far more violent country than other advanced nations and we are long past the point where we are surprised when there is a mass killing here. That lack of surprise is very unique to us as well among advanced countries . If you don't think that matters , that's one (albeit very bizarre) thing. But to act like it isn't true is just stupid
That's unfair. Obama's incurious and incompetent, but he had nothing to do with this shooting.
harrogate, some numbers would help you make your case.
Unfortunate none of the church goers was armed.
Bob E., it's not a "case." Movie theaters, churches, elementary schools, high schools, shopping malls, parking lots, you name it. Hell all you have to do is turn on the news. Hell, the one-on-one murders are through the roof compared to other advanced countries. But then there's the mass killings too.
This is a violent country by any standard.
Harrogate, make your case. Spouting crap doesn't do the job.

Their endless, nauseating obsession with talking about how black people should behave would be a start. Twelve fucking posts on Dolezal. It's a sick obsession. Race, race, race, the commentators here are obsessed with race and Althouse panders to them to keep up her hit count.
Why not focus on the problems in their own communities? God knows, there is no shortage. 83 percent of white murder victims were killed by whites. 36 percent of those killed by whites are women. The rate of white-on-white killing in the US is much higher than in other european nations.
If the discussion of violence was based on threat level, rather than racially based then, since almost everyone, if not everyone, here is white then a rational discussion of violence would have more than 4 posts on white-on-white violence versus 1 post on black violence. Good luck finding a discussion like that.
What you may not understand is that no one here (or few) likes or trusts you, so no, you cannot make dramatic unsupported assertions and expect them to be embraced, except perhaps by whatever cheering section you find here.
But lets swallow your camel. Ok violent country. So? What, you want to change that? I bet you have a whole slew of solutions you're itching to shove into implementation. And others which you would never countenance. So, business as usual.
Technically, harrogate is correct: the US is more violent than most European countries. But, in true lefty lie by sin of omission, it's what's not said that's as important as what is said.
The first point is that the US is as large as all of Europe, and has as much regional variation between its states & regions as the Europeans do among their countries. Thus, lumping together Louisiana with Montana, makes as much sense as lumping Albania with Norway.
Also, compare the list of murders by state with the list of percentages of blacks in the population. Notice the correlation. Other states with a high percentage of Mexican immigrants, legal & illegal, also have high murder rates.
The ugly truth about American murder is that it's heavily minority. If you live in "whitey white" Montana or Vermont, you're actually less likely to get murdered than in Great Britain or France.
But I thought Black lives mattered?
I think the stats show that gun ownership tends to reduce street crime. The down side to this is that when a psycho gets his hand on a gun his potential for evil increases exponentially. In this country, our gun control laws tend to diminish crime and increase the frequency of mass murders. So which are you more afraid of: street crime or mass murder?.......If we brought back Prohibition, we could save the thousands of lives that are lost dye to DUIs.
Watch "The First 48". Forget about "Columbo" and "Law & Order: Criminal Intent". Real murder is an endless litany of petty criminals with street names instead of real names blowing each other away for stupid reasons. It's pretty depressingly banal after awhile. And still heartbreaking.
I'm not trying to make friends or earn trust here , just stating a fact.
"What is ridiculous here is that you guys have planted acres of the internet with your untethered by any actual knowledge thoughts on all the problems that beset black culture."
This kid is almost certainly going to turn out to be psychotic. Just like the Tucson killer and the Colorado killer. It is long past time to be reconsidering 50 years of neglect of the mentally ill.
ARM, you sometimes sound reasonable but not today.
"Technically, harrogate is correct: the US is more violent than most European countries. But, in true lefty lie by sin of omission, it's what's not said that's as important as what is said."
There are studies showing the white population of the US is less violent than the population of European countries. That is not politically correct so you will never see them.
FBI Stats 2011
Table 1 1992 to 2011 shows population increased while violent crime dropped.
Expanded Homicide Data Tables gives numbers of murder victims/offenders by race, age, sex.

This morning, Mexico's Excelsior reported a massacre of 160 Central American migrants in two separate incidents. The migrants were machine-gunned and left for dead, with just 60 managing to flee for their lives.
One incident occurred in Sonora state near the Arizona border.
The other was in Veracruz state in Mexico's south.
Both were likely the work of cartels operating Mexico — who settle disputes over cash (including people smuggling fees) and territorial passage with machine guns.

Geeze. Good thing that people encouraging illegal immigration from Latin America with promises of benefits and citizenship are not responsible for the consequences of these policies or they would feel guily.
Progs like ARM are all hate, 24 by 7. Consequently it's inconceivable to them that normal people don't hate and even view haters like him as aberrant.
I am very glad that our president spoke on this topic today -- after all, he physically resembles a person whose ancestors were taken to North America hundreds of years ago and enslaved.
No mention of his psychological problems, drugs he was taking, nor his family life.
Good to see Big Mike has arrived to point out that ARM is the real racist here.
I haven't seen much about the victims. Were they elderly?
I ask, because this shitbird reloaded five times.
I guess I'm just surprised that he wasn't jumped. Or, maybe someone tried but he was too fast.
I wasn't there, so I can't say. I just wish this awful thing had a happier ending.
Back from mobile commenting mode, and after rereading the day's comments , I want to note that the southern hatred of black men for fear of them taking our women, etc can be easily filled by recycled old Nazi propaganda proclamations and create a skinhead war on black men.
There has been little WWII history realism taught since the 1950s to expose the level of easy inhumanity given to what we thought was a civilized world by Nordic types following that Nazi propaganda. It was unspeakably horrendous but seemed to be so right to so many.
IMO we have to stay alert to that powerful ideology and fight it in public. It is no joke. And it is always self destructive in the end .
"There has been little WWII history realism taught since the 1950s to expose the level of easy inhumanity given to what we thought was a civilized world by Nordic types following that Nazi propaganda."
Tru, dat. The Swedes, for example, were neutral. I guess they couldn't figure out that the guys who decorated their uniforms with skull insignias were the bad guys.
As someone noted above, judging from his haircut this guy is not a bubba. It would be the rare redneck racist who could name Rhodesia/Zimbabwe or could find South Africa on a map. A goodly number of rednecks are married to black women and men judging from the couples I observe at rural southern Walmarts. No, this guy is a white power heavy metal band guy who knows a few words of German. He is not so evolved that he reads Ezra Pound or connects him with current fascists in Italy who have a sizable black membership. This guy envisions a post Rhodesian Zimbabwe where the land was taken from white farmers and distributed to blacks resulting in the breadbasket of Africa devolving into a food desert. He envisions it here. He believes that by killing innocents in their church the dystopian future he sees will be arrested. Or he believes Helter Skelter. Either way he is wrong and evil. To see Charleston today is to see the opposite of his mad vision.
God rest the souls of those murdered and give comfort to those who loved them so deeply.
Come now Michael. You know as well as I do that by the American definition, a "food desert" is a place where food is excessive. Their is a strong correlation in the US between zip codes designated as "food deserts" and obesity.
I guess they couldn't figure out that the guys who decorated their uniforms with skull insignias were the bad guys.
Have a go at Google with keywords like "skull insignia" "military", and "uniforms"and get back to us about that.

Cynthia Hurd, 54, library branch manager.
Sharonda Coleman-Sinleton, 45, athlete, wife, mother, speech therapist and head girls track coach at Goose Creek High School.
Tywanza Sanders, 26, recent college graduate, aspiring musician, bible student.
Ethel Lance, 70, Mother, Grandmother, retired custodian at Galliard Auditorium.
Susie Jackson, 87, mother, grandmother, choral and gospel singer.
Depayne Middleton-Doctor, 49, retired public official, pastor, volunteer and mother of four.
Myra Thompson, 59, bible study teacher, mother, wife, sibling to 10 sisters and one brother.
Daniel Simmons Sr., 74, pastor, father, grandfather, volunteer.
Clementia Pinckney, 51, husband, wife, father, pastor, South Carolina state senator.
(I doubt that he reloaded five times. Didn’t have to. Kill the threats first and then pick off the old women. This shooter is a coward of the first order.)

Here's a listing of the murder rate by country, which unfortunately is sorted by continent so it takes some looking at to make sense of. Look at the numbers of the western European countries & notice how, statistically, they all seem to cluster around 1%. But move to eastern Europe, and the numbers start spiking, in spite of the fact that eastern Europe is too poor to have large immigrant communities like western Europe.
The reason for this is that the numbers for western European countries are bogus. The police in these countries have absolutely no idea what goes on in the immigrant communities that are "no-go" zones for them (e.g. how long did it take the British police to discover that massive, on-going, rape ring in a Pakistani neighborhood?). Seriously, do you think that Spain has a 0.8% murder rate? Does your affluent Londoner or Parisian act as if the murder rate is 1%, or do they act like Americans did in the 70's, avoiding certain neighborhoods at all costs?
It is a vital part of the corporate self-image of Western Europe that they aren't as violent as those "cowboy" Americans. Unfortunately for that self-image, they have imported a crew of very nasty & violent immigrants into their midst. They deal with that unpleasant reality by avoiding those people at all cost, including letting them do whatever to each other in their own neighborhoods, where out of sight is out of mind, and also out of statistics.
This isn't the only common stat that's bogus. Infant mortality is another. In the US, if you're born & you die (e.g. at risk preemies), you go into the infant mortality stats. In Europe, if a risky birth goes awry, the child is "stillborn", and not counted in the infant mortality stats.
They didn't have Google during WW2, Anglelyne, but I wouldn't think that the Swedes would have needed it. "Panzergrup Totenkopf" is kind of self-explanatory.
There is not much "blaming all white people" going on here in South Carolina. We believe that the hatred and irrational fear expressed by the shooter is an echo of our past, but it's not the present. To a large part that is true.
And yet "[t]he past is never dead. It's not even past."
Terry: They didn't have Google during WW2, Anglelyne, but I wouldn't think that the Swedes would have needed it. "Panzergrup Totenkopf" is kind of self-explanatory.
Guess I was being too subtle. Terry, lots of military units, historically and currently, including the "good guys", make use of the "totenkopf" in military insignia, so no, that in itself wouldn't tell you who the bad guys were or are.

Gee..is that a picture him pouting in order to pressure Dad into getting him a gun? Or is he just pissed about the ridiculous bowl cut and having to constantly explain his uniform?
But the best bit here is ARM's attempt to invert reality by claiming racial division is being driven by the Right. That was classic.

But if folks want to make comparisons across countries and cultures, maybe the better metrics to consider in these situations are mental illness and drug use.
I agree with trad guy that there are underground running sewers of racism now on the internet which mesh historical conspiracy theories (Nazi, anti-communist) and violent imagining. Everything that is vile must converge.
And other commenters seem to be saying that Dylann, an emo-anarchist meshed that anarchy in with this racist underground stream of filth.
And he was on psychiatric drugs.
And led by all this into believing in his addled way that white women were being raped Dylann went into a church and shot several older women and some younger women. Managed to hit some elderly men as well. Good people with real lives shot down.
And this piece of garbage is delighted with the publicity. Almost as delighted with himself as the NYT. Everything that is vile must converge.
ARM: You people are obsessed with race, you should talk about something else.
Everyone: What should we talk about?
ARM: How you're racist.
It's pretty amusing the douchbags believe they get to determine what everyone else should talk about. And the nutty left claiming others are race obsessed is absurd. There's never been anyone less self aware.
2009: Major Nidal Malik Hasan, a Muslim Palestinian, opens fire on a military base and kills 13 people while shouting "Allah Akbar!" Obama administration response? "Workplace violence."
2015: Dylann Storm, a white 21 year old mentally disturbed drug user, kills nine Blacks at worship in their church. Obama administration response? "race war is upon us."

Except for you, apparently, if you can't see that this blog and its commenters have become obsessed with race - 12 posts on Dolezal, over a thousand comments about a complete nonentity. Althouse even managed to slip race into a discussion about who should go on the $10 bill. It's become a farce.
"There's more to life than obsessing about the goings on of black folks, about which, let's be honest, most people here know nothing of value."
Yes, I can understand you being honest about your lack of knowledge.
This kid will turn out to be psychotic and all the navel gazing by the left will accomplish noting of value, but then that is their history. I am almost finished with Fred Siegel's "The Revolt Against the Masses," and it is excellent. ARM could get much from it but he won;t read it, of course.
This story is about mental health, not race.
googling "daily kos" and "racism" returns 274,000 hits.
Very few conservatives comment at kos.
Michael K, I've started _Revolt Against the Masses_. It tells a very similar story to John Carey's _The Intellectuals And The Masses: Pride and Prejudice Among the Literary Intelligentsia, 1880-1939_. Carey's book is specific to England. In England, according to Carey, the intellectual class sought to replace the aristocrats who were decimated and weakened politically by the First World War.
this blog and its commenters have become obsessed with race
Right. There are no racial events in the national news that might explain this. It's obsession.
Just to test this idiotic theory I stopped over at Talking Points Memo, a left leaning blog whose advocates like to pretend is reasonable. Of the first 20 articles 17 are racial. The corresponding number for Althouse is 6 of 20.
It is, of xourse, the Left who believes that a race-neutral statement like "People on welfare should have to work" is loaded down with racial significance that only they can detect.

This is a fun game. I'll take Meaningless Stats for 500 please, Alex.
Your methodology is shit, ARM. "black" is a color as well as a race. Say, do you work in the social research racket?
""Althouse" and "black" returns 502,000 results."
'Althouse' and 'Laslo' currently returns 246,000 results. Hence: Laslo is half as important as all the blacks in America combined.
It is good to be Laslo. I am Googley Biracial.
I am Laslo.
Dear God, you are the most obtuse commenter I've ever seen. You've been given reams of substantive response, yet either you didn't read them, or some mental block (trigger?) went into effect the second you saw something that didn't hold to your preconceived belief system.
Fen's Law is in play here - you are refuting points that ARM doesn't really believe in. Waste of your time. You have to find out his true position and motivation and address that instead.
I'm going with "ARM hates people with guns preventing his Marxist utopia"
Someone claiming to be reasonable and a man writes these two sentences: "Their [=Althouse commentators'] endless, nauseating obsession with talking about how black people should behave would be a start. Twelve fucking posts on Dolezal." What's wrong with this juxtaposition? Dolezal's problems have nothing to do with the behavior of black people, because Dolezal is not black. The only example ARM bothers to give of our supposed obsession with the problems of black people is no such thing, and he's too stupid to notice just how stupid his argument is.
@Fen, I'm with you. The way to deal with ARM is to give him the old horse laugh. He's a Prog. He does not debate in good faith, he does not negotiate in good faith, he misses no chance to vent his hatred of anyone who has the temerity to respond to his infantile spewings.
ARM take two Dolezal with milk and you will feel better in the morning.
As for this shooter, why did the cops mess up and not have killed him while resisting arrest? Could have done the country a favor. The killer sat in the church for an hour with his victims while they were in prayer service before he killed them. For that alone he deserves no mercy. As for the killer's father, hang that jerk as well. First who gives a kid such a ridiculous name like Dylann Storm Roof? The name alone is almost guaranteed to make him a bit loony and who would stupid enough to buy a gun for a kid this crazy? Hang the father for creating the freak.
What this country needs is nut control and violent criminal control, not more misguided gun control.
Fen ARM doesn't really abhor guns, he only abhors the wrong sort of people having guns.
I have a suggestion. I don't want to hear this guy's name. I don't want to hear any of these guy's names. I don't want to hear about his pathetic life or his twisted views on anything. Just call him "sick evil loser" and be done with it.
It might be an interesting commentary on American society to compare/contrast all the comments with the most "thumbs up" on a NYT story after a mass shooting. O' to be a professor or a grad student again with plenty of time on my hands.
Somebody made a good point on twitter... something I had not heard put that way before.
"If you don't have to give up your car because others drive drunk with their, then why do you have to give up your gun because others commit crimes with theirs?
"ARM take two Dolezal with milk and you will feel better in the morning."
Don't take if you're allergic to any of they ingredients of
Dolezal, or have a family history of caucasoiditis. Possible side effects include darkening of the skin and changes in hair texture. May cause delusion and lack of self-awareness. Consult your doctor right away if these symptoms last more than eight years.
"The scariest thing I've learned on this thread: ARM is reproducing..."
Yeah, I caught that too.
ARM just doesn't get that this is about mental health, just like the Connecticut shooting, the Tucson shooting and the Colorado shooting. The shooters were all psychotic. Guns should not be in the hands of psychotics, there I'll agree with you.
Imagine if one of those parishioners had had a concealed weapon. I wonder how many people realize that "well controlled militia" excluded black slaves or even black freemen. Lots of black men used guns to defend themselves from the KKK.
If this is about mental health then we need to figure out a way to keep lethal weapons from crazy people.

How about we put crazy people in institutions like we used to?
True, Phil. I await further info on the family situation and how many red flags were ignored.
But hey..the weekend approaches. How many will be killed in Chicago? Hmm...hometown boy with dedicated library planned there doesn't want to discuss that..even while invoking the Rahm Doctrine in that presser he "had to" discuss this in.
"This is a time for grief..but let me prattle on about.."
So Obama says this doesn't happen in other countries? How many brown people have been murdered with the weapons he ran to Mexican drug cartels? How many innocents has he double tapped droned in the ME? How many people have been slaughtered with the weapons him and Hillary were running to terrorists in Syria, out of which came ISIS, and why we were in Benghazi...where they gave zero shits about the ambassador's security while knowing full well an attack was coming, ten days in advance.
850 Africans drown in the Mediterranean off of Libya. Refugees from a war that Hillary thought was a great idea.
Washington Post
For some context, an email to Hillary from trusted aid Sidney Blumenthal
First, brava! This is a historic moment and you will be credited for realizing it.
When Qaddafi himself is finally removed, you should of course make a public statement before the cameras wherever you are, even in the driveway of your vacation house. You must establish yourself in the historical record at this moment.
The most important phrase is: “successful strategy.” …
This is a very big moment historically and for you. History will tell your part in it. You are vindicated.
But a one-off crazy person taking many different kinds of drugs, both legal and illegal, kills 8 people, and we on the right need to re-examine our beliefs.
Those 850 people don't matter though because BENGHAZI!
Yeehaw! We's takin our kuntry back!!
