This seems to be the opposite of the situation in 1992 when all the big named known Democrats kept out thinking the first George Bush was a shoo-in for re-election. Now every Republican with a big enough ego sees the path to winning. Nate Silver is still hand waving it as a toss-up, but these Republicans don't see it that way.

It is way too early to make anything of these polls. I am constantly asked my preference and I always decline. I don't know who the nominee will be and I don't know who I will vote for yet.

Here is the deal. There will be leaders and one of them will be the candidate to run against the only candidate offered by the Democrats which candidate will have been through zero fire to get to the starting point.

While I am astonished Hillary is in double digits, Democrats can't feel good about the fact that the only Republican she hits the 50% mark with is Trump, and even then it's only 50%. She's already peaked, her only hope for victory is the Republican melts down. And the media will do everything in their power to bring that about.

My question is if Rand Paul doesnt win the Republican nomination would the Democrats try to enlist him and dump Hillary!? Hillary is toxic, O'Malley isnt ready and comes from a failed state, and the Democrats really need to pivot to the center. And their unflinching desire to win at all costs may just be enough for them to go this way. Paul's policies on the NSA, Foreign Policy and Civil Liberties are right in his wheelhouse, and Obamacare is going to sink them anyway.

I'm gonna just go ahead and say that I'm astonished any Republican has ever won the presidency in the post-Johnson, pre-Fox News/Internet era. With how partisan the former "major" media outlets are, from TV to newspapers to magazines (talk radio being the only real exception), since the Sixties (and maybe earlier) the GOP nominee has had to take on both the Dem nominee and the media to win the election. Of course, now that the Internet is teeming with news sites presenting a more truthful commentary, conservative opinion blogs, and especially with Fox dominating the cable news game, the media are even more vicious and partisan than before. I wonder how many other presumptive debate moderators have past donations to the Clinton Crime Syndicate under their belts.

Paul is far too libertarian for the Dems--they need an economic leftist.

If Hillary somehow drops out, I imagine they'll be touting Liz Warren from the populist left, and Cory Booker as a centrist alternative.

Rubio--- born of resident alien parents in Miami was naturalized by 8 US Code S. 1401 (1)
Cruz--- born in Ontario Canada of a US Citizen mother, and a Cuban father was naturalized by 8 US Code S. 1401 (1)(g) .

Even the State Dept. has doubts that Cruz is eligible:

a. It has never been determined definitively by a court whether a person who
acquired U.S. citizenship by birth abroad to U.S. citizens is a natural-born
citizen within the meaning of Article II of the Constitution and, therefore,

It has also NEVER been positively held that one born in the US of resident aliens is eligible either.

And the Usurper State Dept. has worked desperately and quietly in the background to say that "citizens at birth" are not "naturalized", as recently as 8/2013, adding this:

(CT:CON-474; 08-19-2013)
Section 101(a)(23) INA (8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(23)) provides that the term
"naturalization" means "the conferring of nationality of a state upon a person after

birth abroad to a U.S. citizen parent or parents who meet the applicable statutory
transmission requirements are not considered citizens by naturalization.



Of course this is all nonsense, since "at birth" means "after birth", just a shorter time after birth. Those children aren't naturalized "before birth" or "during birth". This is a desperate attempt, akin to Clinton's "it depends on the meaning of "is" by a state department that is clearly lying, and helping to make Cruz and Rubio eligible.

Before 1934 Cruz would not have been considered a US Citizen. Before 1898 Rubio would not have been considered a US Citizen until his parents naturalized (See Naturalization Act 1802 S. 4)
If they would not have been citizens then, then they cannot be a natural born Citizen now. They are only considered US Citizens by Congress authority to write uniform naturalization law--- so they are certainly naturalized. Congressional naturalization law cannot amend the Constitution (A2S1C5).

Don't expect the "law prof" to weigh in w/ any cogent Constitutional analysis either.

For fucks sake. Its like the media thinks there's some sort of "problem" with the GOP because they dont already have an anointed candidate like the Democrats do with Hillary.

Likewise, with a woman, a hispanic, and a black person already in the running, and most of the candidates being pretty young, the media doesnt know what to do with themselves since the narrative is the GOP is simply nothing more than old white men.
