"His" seat?

It's understandable that retired athletes get fat. What's Russ' excuse?

MadisonMan said...

It'll be an interesting campaign.

I'd rather see younger candidates.

A liberal progressive wants to fix the mess made by liberal progressives...alrighty then...

Unfortunately, when Russ Feingold said "this game is not over until we win", he meant it as a partisan statement. Hard to walk that back--ever.

Ron Johnson has a fight on his hands. Dems in this state are PO'd and they will do anything and everything to bring him down. Will Ron fight cleanly or get truly tough (and maybe a bit dirty) in fighting for "his" seat?

Ron Johnson is simply too dumb, even for this state. He will get crushed.

lemondog said...

....so what should we do? Get rid of the senate?

YESssssss!!!!!!

Term limits!!!!! for Congress!!!

And no repeats. Once yer out, yer out!

Now there is an attitude that has won Wisconsin Democrats all of those election since 2010!

"Ron Johnson is simply too dumb ...."

If that was true, most lefties would identify with him. You know, in the Patty Murray/Babs Boxer mold.

He seems plenty smart to me. You want to defend your charge rather than just do a drive-by?

JAORE said...

I was there for the bulk of the years leading up to our current problems. But I got sent home last time. But I'd really like to go back.

THIS time I'll be part of the solution. I promise.

Russ Feingold. Outsider. Running to change the way Washington does business!

Their success rate, however, is low.

Ron Johnson is simply too dumb, even for this state.

People elected Abramson. I'm not sure intellect can conceivably be low enough for a WI Progressive to not vote for a Demo.

You want to defend your charge rather than just do a drive-by?

I almost laughed.

garage mahal said...

Did you examine the merits of his ObamaCare lawsuit? He claims he was "injured" because he got too good of a deal. He is a stone cold idiot.

TosaGuy said...

So are there any young Democrats in Wisconsin who would like to be a Senator?

With Tammy Baldwin holding the other seat, there is little room for a young Democrat to move up in Wisconsin's political world.

Will any Democrat with political ambition step up to take on Feingold or are they simply going to let the old fossil either lose to Johnson or if he wins, probably sit in DC for another twelve to eighteen years?

The WI Democrats would do well with an actual primary battle to figure out who they are as a party and present a message to the state other than quests for political revenge.

Original Mike said...

"He claims he was "injured" because he got too good of a deal."

When the government flaunts the law, we are all injured. I wouldn't expect you to understand.

JAORE said...

'Did you examine the merits of his ObamaCare lawsuit? He claims he was "injured" because he got too good of a deal.'

I'm sure that is a direct quote.

Sigh. Flouts. Sorry, but it had to be said.

Original Mike said...

Sorry.

garage mahal said...

I wouldn't expect you to understand.

He got laughed out of court. "Even more problematic for plaintiffs' theory is that they claim to be treated too favorably."

7th Circuit: “Respectfully, we do not see how Sen. Johnson's reputation could be sullied or his electability diminished by being offered, against his will, a benefit that he then decided to refuse,” the panel said.

Our Dumb Senator.

traditionalguy said...

He has a good line about what's wrong that needs fixing. But he must think no one remembers that he supported every bad move the Progressives made with every vote that he made and only threw out some pointed criticisms on small issues...and then went ahead and voted with HIS PARTY anyway.

Ron Johnson is an idiot who built a multi-million dollar business, offering employment to others and quality products to his customers.Russ is a genius who spent his life more or less on the Big Gov teat.

See how that works?

Bobber Fleck said...

Well then, let's get started with the puff pieces on Feingold. They will be a nice break from the relentless hit pieces on Johnson.

Maybe they can take some video of Russ and Tammy together and have the Solidarity Singers perform Kumbaya in the background.

I thought he married the bosses daughter.

The party is in flux, trying to coalesce around something, but the old guard keeps getting in the way. I don't see how a Feingold candidacy helps.

They will be a nice break from the relentless hit pieces on Johnson.

What? I've seen next to zero press on Johnson. I couldn't name one piece of legislation he's authored.

Garage disagrees with Ron Johnson, therefore he's dumb.

That's how Democrats think.

He didn't build anything. He married into his wife's family business.

I don't know whether Ron Johnson is part of the solution, but it's perfectly clear that "your Russ" was part of the problem.

I can't support a politician who believes the federal government can and should censor political speech.

Funny how so many on the Left are invoking a "hope and change" mantra for their campaigns after 8 years of Obama.

Bernie Sanders is selling the same recycled crap too.

McCain-Feingold.

Russ Feingold can go to hell.

Mark said...

Relentless hit pieces on Johnson, the claim.

I think I know more about what he has done via Vicki McKenna than the news, which never mentions him.

Has he actually proposed a bill or done sosomething other than have press conferences while a Senator?

I havent heard of a single thing.

SteveR said...

There is a way to look at Johnson and say that by "not doing anything" he is actually above average for his impact on the United States. Less is more.

Beyond that he serves as a vote in the block that keeps Harry Reid and Chucky Schumer from stashing bills in their desks.

Idiocy. Until January he has been in the minority, so nothing he has sponsored got to a vote. But he has sponsored much

Feingold is on record...video record...predicting that all the fairy tales about ObamaCare would come true...I'll take Johnson in this area.

garage mahal said...

Of course you will.

Pure bullshit. Johnson was there in the company's infancy, worked his way up to CEO, and ran it even AFTER the company was sold. He then bought the company and grew it even larger.

As usual, you are a liar and an idiot.

SteveR said...

But you repeat yourself

garage mahal said...

Pure bullshit. Johnson was there in the company's infancy,

He married into his wife's family business. He married into money just like fellow losers Paul Ryan and Scott Walker did.

Mountain Maven said...

Let's ask all Feingold's ex-wives how the marrying part went.
And what's he been doing since he got run out of the Senate? Cushy visiting prof gigs and a phoney baloney stint at State given to him by his pal Kerry.
Is always old retreads all the time for the dems?

Brando said...

Not being a Wisconsinite, why is Johnson doing so badly in the polls? He's had over four years to define himself, and establish a positive image with the voters and yet one recent poll had him down 16 points against Feingold. I'm not aware of any scandals to explain that deficit.

The GOP has three other vulnerable seats this cycle--Illinois (same question about Kirk), Pennsylvania and Florida. But I'd think if I were a candidate running in a state where my party has not won in the last two presidential election cycles, and this time out the Dems are likelier to have better turnout, I would have either worked to make myself more secure or planned to be a one-termer from the beginning.

MadisonMan said...

He married into money

Why is marrying into money something bad?

I've always told my kids that it's just as easy to fall in love with a rich person as a poor one.

walter said...

Feingold said he would have lost against Walker in recall because the recall was unpopular. So..what about the subsequent general, Russ?

Brando said...

"I've always told my kids that it's just as easy to fall in love with a rich person as a poor one."

You know what they say--the person who marries for money ends up earning every penny of it.

walter said...

That explains Kerry's botox reduced lines.

Brando said...

John Kerry remains the most puzzlingly weak candidate the Democrats ever nominated for a winnable race. Al Gore I sort of get--he was VP, had a moderate reputation, 2000 should have been a good year for the Democrats--but by every measure John Kerry was a laughably poor choice in a year when Bush was vulnerable.

Then they decide having him follow Hillary might make her own mistakes look smaller in comparison.

walter said...

They thought his charisma would carry him.

Boy if I wanted to "change the system" that'd be the guy I'd go to ... some no-name Democratic hack that was there 20 years ago.

C'mon Wisconsin: cancha do better than that? Really?

I can't name 3, but his one big thing was he fixed free speech.
