MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Marquette University officials fired their Gender and Sexuality Resource Center director after reports of a mural at the center featuring convicted cop killer and wanted terrorist Assata Shakur.
Shakur was convicted of the execution style killing of a New Jersey trooper in 1973 before she escaped prison and fled to Cuba, where she’s lived in exile since.
On Monday, Marquette University officials removed a large mural of Shakur, which included quotes from her autobiography, after associate professor of political science John McAdams criticized the piece on his blog, the Marquette Warrior. The next day, university officials fired sexuality center’s director.
The above can't be true, it has to be some kind of hoax, lefties don't get fired.
I would think that if Obama wanted things to go otherwise than as they have been going, at home and abroad, for the first 6 1/2 years of his presidency, he would have made some changes in policy - tried some different things. I do not see that any changes have been made, except more of the same, and therefore conclude that whatever his objectives may be, he is achieving them.
We just had a case here in Albuquerque where police went to arrest a young woman and she took a couple of potshots at them. So they called shut down the neighborhood and called for SWAT with personnel carrier, etc., and the whole 9 yards. The siege lasted for 9 hours and ended with the SWAT firing teargas and bang grenades, etc., through all the windows in the house and stormed the place.
Oops! The young lady had apparently skedaddled out the backdoor immediately after firing her shots, and the house had been empty for the whole 9 hours.
Yes, we do have some problems with relying on excessive military gear and abandoning any attempt at common sense police work.
Are you aware of the federal lawsuit in Alaska filed by a judge appointed by Sarah Palin. Oral argument before the 9th circuit occurred on May 13, 2015?
What I gleaned from the oral argument and from talking to one of the attorneys, the Palin-appointed judge was harassed by his judical colleagues about being appointed by her. Apparently, there were rumors he had a sexual affair with her, and that the judicial appointment was reward for the affair. The judge denied it and filed an EEOC complaint about sexual harassment by his judicial colleagues. He was later sanctioned by the Alaska Supreme Court and was removed as a judge for complaining about harassment internally and to the EEOC. The Alaska Bar then tried to take away his law license without a due process hearing. The judge fought back with a Section 1983 lawsuit.
I was in court for another case when I listened to the former judge argue his own case to the 3 jdge panel. It appears that the Section 1983 is established, but that the Alaska Bar's attorneys are claiming prosecutorial immunity for trying to take away the judge's law license as punishment for filing an EEOC complaint.
Have you heard about this case? The oral argument was fascinating. Here is the Youtube link: https://youtu.be/1rz731wlbws

On the subject of police SWAT teams:

There's the mathematical problem of how the flowers distribute themselves over the sphere.
Icosahedral symmetry would be great for dimples on a golf ball, having equal moments of inertia around any axis.
But flowers are likely to be axial somehow. That would be bad for a golf ball.

Last night was just about perfect weather wise.
Tim, plant growth has exploded here in the last week-and-a-half.
Be sure to hit Company Brewing in Milwaukee when you're in town for a fest, or Brewers game. Great food and beer.

Did a little observing of the Coma Cluster from my backyard last night. Wish I had been at a dark sky site.
The spirit of '76 - 1876 - is alive and well in Alaska politics.
