The Badgers and the stenographer.

Those with skills appreciate skills, and because they are Badgers, they appreciate them adorably:

That's pretty cool. My older sister is not a stenographer but she studied "Secretarial Science" for her A levels back in the 70s. She routinely wrote at over 300 wpm in shorthand competitions.

I used to sit in on depositions as a scientific advisor and there was always a stenographer present. Part of my job was to clean up the technical language which the stenographer rendered only phonetically. Sometimes I got to sit next to an attorney and see how the words would magically appear in type seconds after they came out of the mouth of the person being deposed.

I wonder now whether voice to text machines are replacing stenographers.

Funny story.

I was on the witness stand in an effort to regain my OGM's (oil, gas and mineral rights). My lawyer asks me a question. Opposition attorney objects to the question.

After a back and forth, the judge overrules the objection and asks my lawyer to repeat the question. My lawyer stammers that he forget the question.

Judge looks at the court reporter and asks her to repeat the question. She sheepishly responds that she would, but can't read it because she forgot her glasses. Everyone laughed.

My lawyer resumed questioning from a different angle.

(We won the case)

Now that I understand the context, I must admit Nigel's comments were clever and endearing...and I'm a Spartan.

Way more impressed with Bo Ryan's total coaching and teaching skill. One of the very best in any sport at any time.

Beating Dana and the Ducks is not easy. Kentucky loses to the Badgers.
