Maureen Dowd snaps at Hillary to "Call Off the Dogs."

"Hillary’s inability to dispense with brass-knuckle, fanatical acolytes like Brock shows that she still has an insecure streak that requires Borgia-like blind loyalty, and can’t distinguish between the real vast right-wing conspiracy and the voices of legitimate concern."

Worth the click even if only to laugh at the photograph of David Brock.

It's fascinating that the Times runs this oped in the same paper that has a front-page story about a politician who appears to have parlayed their relation to a successful politician to promote their own political career. That would be Jeb Bush. My cynical guess is that the front-pager came courtesy of Hillary's opposition research team. All in for Hillary!

I’LL pay for this column.

The Rottweilers will be unleashed.

Make me relevant, Hillary!!

I've already seen a photograph of Brock. Once is enough.

No one willingly permits a picture like that (of himself) to be published. He must think he's cool looking. Egad.

So should the opening credits here

One has to live in a pretty strange Universe to believe that either Dick Morris or Mark Penn could so much as make a fist.

For me the money quote from Dowd's article is the next to last paragraph:

"But, for now, what Republicans say about government is true of the Clintons: They really do believe that your money belongs to them."

Have you opened up a thread on this news item? 30 Wisconsin Homes Vandalized with Swastikas and Anti-Semitic Slogans. As it occurred in Madison, it is of interest.

From Dowd: David Brock used to wear a monocle. Presumably in public.

What a ridiculous little man.

Bonus tidbit: Brock's been run out of the highest haunts in Hillaryland by the preposterous Jim Messina.

Humperdink said...

I am fairly certain I would never hire a campaign adviser who played for the other team. So to speak.

David Brock is insane & if he were not so useful to the Dems no one would ever give him the time of day. The article makes it seem as if the push to oust Brock is a Clinton vs Obama team thing. Maybe, but I think it more likely an amoral & sane vs amoral & insane thing. I think there's a quite a few operatives who think that Brock's mental state would implode under the stress of a presidential campaign. I can't say I disagree with them on that.

What's really sad in all this is that 1) Hillary's campaign blew through $800M in 2008 & still lost & 2) our political process now seems to require the presence of such odious "consultants" for a campaign to function.

This will not matter.

Hear me now, believe me later.

The next POTUS is Hillary!

Why? Three reasons:

1: GOP does not include women in leadership positions. American voters are tired of GOP gender bias.

2. GOP does not appreciate immigrant contribution to American success. American voters are tired of GOP bias against immigrants.

3. GOP does not like science. They refuse to accept any benefits of science. American voters are tired of GOP anti-science views.

Ergo, learn to Say: POTUS Hillary.

"Brass-knuckle, fanatical acolytes" and "Borgia-like blind loyalty" worked for Barry; could work for Hillary!.

What other sorts of acolytes will she have, anyway? If she runs on charismatic appeal to the masses, she'll lose.

Of course, Barry was slick enough to enable lots of people to project their favorite illusions onto him (pragmatism! hope and change!). Hillary! will have do it the Borgia way. I guess Dowd is out (for now), but her NYT colleagues will fall in line.

The hilarious part was her Axelrod comment regarding how "Hillary’s past gurus, Morris and Penn, were nonbelievers — mercenary, manipulative and avaricious."
As if Hillary, Dowd and Axelrod never got paid, never manipulated, and never craved $, fame and/or power, yet remain oblivious to the obvious hypocrisy.

Ms Dowd mentions that Mr Brock used to wear a monocle. Surely there is a picture out there in the wide internet.

If someone can find it, my bet is that it would amuse.

traditionalguy said...

Dowd has never been afraid of either Clinton. She is calling them like she sees them.

And Dowd is right. Both Clintons are low class people that learned politics to get rich. They invented cash donations from foreign Nations in exchange for our secrets and special favors...or was that Benedict Arnold?

Do we even need to post a list of reasons why Hillary isn't going to run? Bill's recent libido explosions aside:

1. She would have to actually answer questions about Libya. All of Libya and what it has become. Her actual war for European oil is going swimmingly.

2. I can't wait for the videos of her in 2010 bragging about Iraq to be juxtaposed with ISIS and a few beheadings.

3. Hard to find someone who more fits the definition of a sociopath. Oh wait she is married to one! And just wait until we all get a load of Orgy Island and Epstein's love plane. Bill wont let her run.

4. Does anyone actually know what she wants to do?

5. She was the worst politician ever 8 years ago and now she is older and chubbier. Except for Romney maybe. They both lost to Obama in pathetic fashion.

Blah, Blah, Blah … Hillary bad, Walker good.

This will go on for months until Althouse discovers (shock and horror) that misogynists don't like Hillary. There will be an 11th hour conversion and Althouse votes for Hillary.

Soap operas have less predictable plots.

Paul said...

Well with Bill 'paedophile' Clinton as a husband and Albatross around her neck, you can see why she is abit defensive.

traditionalguy said...

Walker is still a blank slate to most voters who don't read Althouse Blog.

The word now is that Scott now must make his way through the gauntlet by showing a skillful reaction to gaffes.

Of course that is code for what conservative media allies will do or will not do to counteract the coming bombardment of Dem Ridicule Rockets red glare and Slander Bombs bursting in air that will be launched over the next six months.

She will not. The same "reporters" who covered for Obama will cover for Hill.

2. I can't wait for the videos of her in 2010 bragging about Iraq to be juxtaposed with ISIS and a few beheadings.

She could easily overcome this by distancing herself from Obama which she hadn't done but likely will do when the time is right.

3. Hard to find someone who more fits the definition of a sociopath. Oh wait she is married to one! And just wait until we all get a load of Orgy Island and Epstein's love plane. Bill wont let her run.

Libertine liberals actually like that about Bill. He kicks sand in the faces of "squares."

4. Does anyone actually know what she wants to do?

That doesn't matter to her followers. She's a woman and it's her turn.

5. She was the worst politician ever 8 years ago and now she is older and chubbier. Except for Romney maybe. They both lost to Obama in pathetic fashion.

Again, if she turned on Obama, she could have a shot. If she doesn't, I agree -- she can forget it.

traditionalguy said...

Blood Feud by Ed Klein is a good read. The inside view is presented that Bill expects to effectively be President once Hillary wins the White House. And Bill has had a blood feud going with Barack Obama since the 2008 campaign.

Therefore Obama and his people will sabotage Hillary's bid anyway possible. I look for Elizabeth Warren to come out of this as the candidate.

Chicklit,

Beheadings are so passe. Even 27 beheadings at once doesn't get much more than a yawn.

Now fire, there is a visual image. I finally looked at an image of that Jordanian pilot. That is something I'll not be able to unsee ever.

Big pile of flame, a fist holding the cage bar and a forearm bone with all the flesh burned off.

That is on Hilary. Those are the folks she and President "I'm really good at killing people" Obama thought were the good guys.

It's insane that the Dems are just rolling over for these crooks. They really have no one else, even a little known Governor or Senator who could represent the center Left without this level of slime and corruption? If not, that party is really in trouble. What if for some reason Hillary drops out? Are they going to go with Biden?

Dowd apparently believes that there was a "real vast right-wing conspiracy" that tricked/forced Bill Clinton into receiving oral sex from Monica Lewinski. Imagine what that "real vast right-wing conspiracy" could trick/force Hillary! into doing.

And if the "real vast right-wing conspiracy" can do that to Hillary!, they can do it to Granny Summer Fall Winter Spring, and Joe Bidin' His Time, and that governor from, is it Maryland, whose name I can't remember. The Democrats better just give up and let "the real vast right-wing conspiracy" select some Kochbot for President.

[Yawn] Good night.

It's a crazy, mixed-up, f*ck*d-up world when I find myself coming to MODO's defense, but there it is.
