At the Running Legs Café...

Running Legs

You can write about anything you want.

(This is another one of my scans of photographs I took in 1980/81 of the plastered-over walls in or around SoHo in NYC. And, please, if you've got some on-line shopping to do, consider entering Amazon through The Althouse Portal.)

Who are the guys in the photograph within the photograph?

The guy in the middle looks like Adnan Syed.

I'm guessing that they are the Canadian Rock trio, Rush. The guy in the middle, then, would be Geddy Lee.

I think what Obama is up to in the Middle East (and the Near East) is to withdraw all American military power and "leave the 'Arab World' to the Arabs." (Never mind that most of these people are not any kind of "Arabs.")
Recognizing that someone need to keep order, he sees Iran as the most likely candidate for that role and aims to facilitate that happening.
Not exactly allying with Iran, but easing over that way.

Probably just some white guys who got rich stealing black folks music.
I like coming here because of the variety of comments.
Yo got the people who always say"who? never heard of him" "I never watch TV, but,.."

"If it was me, I would have just..."

"I can't imagine why anybody would...."

Then , you also have the people who have actually taken action, soldiers, cops, doctors and medical people.

You have true Christian believers and athiests

You have laugh out loud humor sometimes

You have always trying but never funny

Methinks you have cliched people who deserve kudos, LOL!

Smart alecs who use big words

Smart people who know what those words mean.

Former Drug addicts, criminals alcoholics

Bad people gone good

Craz people who do not recognize their craziness

Crazy people who embrace their craziness

etc.
Plus, AA is pretty darn smart, for a girl. And pretty funny sometimes, even on purpose.

I am not Laslo

Tammy Baldwin office was made aware of a prescription drug scam at the WI VA hospital in Tomah, many months ago...and did nothing. When the story became public, she fired her staffer, but paid her a ton of cash if she agreed not to talk about it.

Yes, lets have the government in health care. Because you can always count on Democrats do not only do the right thing, but run things well.

Shoveled another 3" of global warming today. Going to be 3 degrees global warming again tomorrow. I think Boston is getting the most global warming. Probably some sort of reverse cheating karma.

Curious, you could add links.

I'm curious as to the fired aide's role: Didn't push the report up to Baldwin hard enough? Did nothing but being made to be the fall guy/gal?

I don't know who they are, but they're not Rush, and that's not Geddy Lee.

The "running legs" is an ad for Tina Peel. I'd post a clickable link, but I am of the genre of occasional posters who doesn't know how. Add that to FullMoon's list.

Last posts on that video are from 6 years ago. The songs are not very subtle, but 1979 was not a subtle time in NYC.

"Blow Me (A Kiss)" and "Penis Between Us" are the song titles.

I feel your pain. As a whacko Californicator in Silicon Valley, I may have to put the top up on my convertible today, and I just put it down only a week ago.

Thankfully the image in question had a Capitol Records logo on it, and the year of the photo was provided. Otherwise, no chance I figure it out. I came up with the group being Shirts, and the album is Street Light Shine.

Does it matter? Baldwin did nothing for over a month. Baldwin gave her a severance...bad enough...but it contained a hush requirement...worse.

Prof. A question.

Given that Williams is under suspension for making up stuff, is there a rationale that Gail Collins could be held to higher standards? Can something be done about her automated articles that spin one misconception after another, based on her bias views.

Can anything be done to NYT like it is being done to NBC news?

Is it fair to also state that the journalists today do not understand the responsibility that comes with the Freedom of Press?

OOPS! I forgot the most important and interesting classification:
The people who actually do know what they are talking about and have unusual or uncommon knowledge on the subject.

AP,

Collins and Williams are only the same if swore she was there when Walker beheaded that unfortunate former teacher of the year.

Some things you just don't misremember.

Professor. Just to let you know, I found your blog during the 2011 Madison protests, and have been a daily reader since. I've directed friends and relatives interested to the blog as well.

You mentioned your 703 Walker posts earlier. I don't want to read all Walker all the time, but he is the most significant political figure from Wisconsin since LaFollette.

He has shifted power in Wisconsin from Madison to Waukesha. He has boldly exposed sacred cows of the Madisonian left, and never flinched. He has survived the recall, the John Doe Witch Hunts, and re-election. His enemies efforts to bring him down, have exposed their hypocrisy, and changed the Wisconsin political landscape.

He handed them a shovel, and they blindly dug the hole. Their still digging. He realizes Wisconsin has changed, they don't.

Now we see Illinois turning to the Walker direction to save their asses, rather than Wisconsin reversing course to be Minnesota's twin. Now he's going national. Maybe soon global. A dude from Wauwatosa. Whodathunk?

So cudos to you and Meade for the best coverage available of the Walker Era. How could you have ignored it, living in Madison, and teaching at UW?

The Journal and Capital Times are agenda driven and lack all honesty. At least here that seems to be the goal of the coverage.

His significance will rise this year.

Now he just has to do something about that bald spot...

Shoveled another 3" of global warming today. Going to be 3 degrees global warming again tomorrow.

We have no snow in the Cascades just east of Seattle. The ski areas opened, and then closed due to snow conditions. I've been skiing in these parts for over 50 years, and I have never seen the ski areas closed in February.

This will impact the water supply for the summer, and present an opportunity to raise the cost of water.

It's going to be nearly 60 degrees, and sunny today. Plants are starting to bloom. Cats are sleeping with dogs.

Thanks.

Even without a mental picture of the Rush guys, I would say not Rush based on the lack of centering of that word over the 3 (or more) guys.

Ann Althouse said...

@Gusty

Thanks!

Meade thinks Walker should be out and proud about the bald spot. It makes him a man of the people.

I think some subtle weaving or whatever they do these days would be appropriate (but not necessary).

Every time someone attacks him for his hair, they look bad.

But then, the opponent is likely to be Hillary, and people have been talking about her hair for a quarter century.

Ann, you need to take these photos and put them together into an exhibit. Seriously. In addition to being wonderfully evocative of an era, they are beautiful works of art. Your sense of composition is amazing. Plus, each one tells a story, and every viewer can read it in his own way.

HAHA! Trick question - the two guys in the photo are ALL of those people!

From the wiki page....

Along with his Rush bandmates – guitarist Alex Lifeson and drummer Neil Peart – Lee was made an Officer of the Order of Canada on May 9, 1996.

I did not know this. Hell, I didn't know that Canucks made such awards. "O, Canada!"

Do people really talk about Walker's bald spot? That's stupid, even for politics.

Joe Biden, and his ridiculous hair plugs.
Go with the bald spot.
I'm tired of know-nothing pretty boys running the country.

Speaking of Slow Joe. Did you see him go creepy on the new Defense Secretary's wife ??

If Tonette Marie Tarantino Walker is not bothered by his bald spot, then neither am I.

"[Tonette] married her first husband when she was 23, but he died of kidney disease by the time she was 30. Five years after her first husband’s death, she was at a karaoke night at a barbecue restaurant when she first met Walker, 12 years her junior. She and Walker wed in 1993 and are parents to two sons, Matt and Alex."

Of course, he didn't have the bald spot when they first met. He says his male pattern baldness is due to hitting his head on a kitchen cabinet and not going to the doctor right away.

"Tonette still points to the bald spot as a reminder that he should always listen to his wife"

The Williams saga continues and continues.

Now, the SEAL Team 6 is after him,

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2956310/Best-selling-author-former-Navy-SEAL-adds-voice-growing-chorus-claiming-Brian-Williams-lied-SEAL-Team-6-involvement.html

And, to make it worse, the PR folks are after him,

http://blogs.wsj.com/riskandcompliance/2015/02/17/crisis-of-the-week-williams-nbc-between-iraq-and-a-hard-place/

Brian Williams: You are a toast! Do us a favor, take others with you. For starters: Take Gail Collins with you.

William said...

The very triviality of Williams offense makes it unforgivable. If he had gotten drunk and run over a few kids or slapped his wife around, he'd be in better shape. He could claim that he was self medicating because of a bipolar disorder and then check into the Ford Clinic. In a few months, he could finish treatment and go on an apology tour. In a little while all would be forgiven because that's what you do to sinners.....it's hard to extend much rancor to a bullshit artist and, thus, it's difficult to offer much forgiveness for the transgression. Maybe if he can find some doctor who can explain how it was all brought on by too much gluten in the diet, he can find mitigation if not forgiveness.

Ann Althouse said...

@Scott

I support Walker. As I understand it from 1000 miles away what Walker does is balance budgets. If the income won't pay for the expenses he works to find a way to reduce the expenses. That is what managers do in every enterprise I have ever worked in. I do that at my house. This is news to people? If this common sense causes people to go crazy attacking his character then so be it--keep singing, keep marching.

If I was Obama I would be embarrassed that I had to borrow more money every year--unless my objective was to fundamentally transform the country into a bankruptcy case. Then I would be proud of my accomplishment. Even my political enemies helped me do it!

He balanced it via more borrowing and delaying debt payments further down the road (resulting in higher interest rates & penalties)

But you wouldn't know about that if you're only getting your Scott Walker updates from this blog.
