The sky is not azure it’s peacock.

That is the winning peacock pic. It exudes peacockiness. And it seems to be wearing its colored contacts...just like a peacock should.

Listen, haters: Claire McCaskill has had enough of your stupid adherence to facts and data.

“Frankly, it is irritating that anybody would be distracted by which statistics are accurate,” said McCaskill, whose legislation also calls for a national survey of campus assault.

Good to have peacocks around. They'll eat fleas, ticks, scorpions and other various creepy crawlies.

Just relaxing here in the Cafe after a trip thru the "atheists need to fill a void" thread.

Peacocks are more into display than preening.

If they're preening, they're looking for lunch.

Whoever the guest host on Rush is is awful.

A "you will all agree because we're all social conservatives" guy.

It's on silent record, so I don't have to listen to it.

Steyn's the best Rush sub, but his writing is even better.

If only there were some way to remember whether peacock is the male or the female.

Are the peacocks noisy? Many years ago I stayed for a couple of nights with relatives who had a backyard full of them. They would sing together in a hellish chorus all night long. One would start - "Errrrk" and then they would all join in: "Eeerrrrk, errrrk, errrrk, errrrk, errrrk..." I didn't get much sleep.

Thurber has an essay about the whiporwill.

He notes that they call it all night.

The call ends on the whip- .

He says that's the bird's mate killing him.

I bet they taste like chicken.

40 years ago, through some friends, I met a guy named Robert White.

No one called him Bob though. Everyone knew him as Quail.

Some men would like to mimic the male peacock; but, alas, it is the women with the wonderful "plumage".

I see in my span folder this afternoon that the NYT has extend the $0.99 offer it had been warning me was expiring in the spam folder for weeks.

This is very damaging to their credibility.

Is there any other kind? Are we now having trans-sexual peahens?

OMG! the Atheist thread is up to 214 comments. Gotta be close to a record.

OK.

In many religions, e.g. Christian, man has created God in his own image. In that regard religions which abjure the imaging, even the naming, of God, e.g. Judiasm, are closer to the mark.

God is, after all, just a word for those things which we believe but cannot 'prove' - the things which we take on faith.

And we all have things taken on faith. Therefore God does exist. The real question is, does He believe in people?

We shall never know.
