"Before President Obama, whose brown eyes are opaque when you look into them, presidents have been more known for blue eyes…."

"The ones with brown eyes, Richard Nixon and L.B.J., came a cropper."

And:
George Washington, blue-gray eyes; John Adams, blue; Thomas Jefferson, hazel; James Madison, brown; James Monroe, blue-gray; John Quincy Adams, black; Andrew Jackson, blue (Old Stonewall-blue eyes?); Martin Van Buren, blue; William Henry Harrison, brown. John Tyler, blue; James Polk, gray; Zachary Taylor, hazel (it figures); Millard Fillmore, blue; Franklin Pierce, gray; James Buchanan, blue; Abraham Lincoln, gray (huh?); Andrew Johnson, black; Ulysses S. Grant, blue. Rutherford B. Hayes, blue; James Garfield, blue; Chester A. Arthur, black (of course); Grover Cleveland, blue (but only once); Benjamin Harrison, blue; William McKinley, blue-gray; Theodore Roosevelt, blue (come on); William Howard Taft, blue; Woodrow Wilson, blue-gray; Warren G. Harding, gray. Calvin Coolidge, blue; Herbert Hoover, hazel (stop laughing); Franklin D. Roosevelt, blue; Harry Truman, blue; Dwight D. Eisenhower, blue (I know, I didn`t believe it, either); John F. Kennedy, blue; Lyndon B. Johnson, brown; Richard Nixon, brown; Gerald Ford, blue; Jimmy Carter, hazel (don't say it); Ronald Reagan, blue.
ADDED: I didn't really mean for this to be a separate post, but I accidentally published what was the draft of a comment to go in the "Eye Implants" thread, where I said something hyperbolic about blue eyes and got called on it. I don't delete posts. Ever. Not in 10+ years.

hasn't there been "analysis" on whther presidents were left- or right-handed too?

Lots of interesting headlines in the left blogospere today too. I liked this one: "It won't be Obama's fault if Dems Lose". Not a cult.

I think "black" was a way of referring to dark brown eyes.

It's weird to see so many listed with 'gray' eyes. I don't think I've ever referred to a person in real life's eyes as gray or heard them described as such. Weird.

How much could eye color have mattered in the early, pre color photo/tv days...

You mean....... opaque?

Shanna, those are like pale blue/slate grey, I assume. My family has those.

Blue/Gray I've seen, but not usually as just gray. And some of the presidents are described as 'blue/gray'. So I don't know.

Blue eyes track with intelligence, I hear, as freckles do with red hair.

Happy Halloween, everybody.

Shouldn't we be judging people by the content of their character rather than the color of their eyes?

My driver's license lists the color of my eyes as gray. I let a DMV employee fill it in when I got my first license many years ago and have never changed it.

"Andrew Jackson, Old Stonewall-blue eyes?"

What does that mean? Does the author think Andrew Jackson and Stonewall Jackson are the same person? Or is there some reference or joke that I'm missing?

Not a single one with green eyes? Boy this country is full of bigots.

With a name like "Eisenhower", how is it unbelievable that he had blue eyes?

Homer always referred to the Goddess of Wisdom as the gray-eyed Athene.

That is my pet name for my wife who has very light blue eyes.

The eyes color is objective, sort of, depending on shirt color/eye color pairings.

But the best tell that eyes give is an open liveliness that displays emotions and thoughts versus a glazed over and fixed stare that so many TV talking heads seem to have as they pour out propaganda.

To see this difference you can use your fingers to block out the rapid facial movements of mouth area (smiles) and only look at their eyes that then show a glazed over motionless stare.
Many Democrat and GOP operatives both have this look, but seldom the political celebrities themselves, with exceptions such as Barack Obama and Charles Mansion.

My brother said, a couple years ago, he thought that it was not long ago that the great majority of Hollywood movie stars had blue eyes and how he had noticed that had changed in the last 10-15 years or so.

I think there was a survey done in the last few years that found the % of Americans with blue eyes had dropped from 60% to less than 40%.

And of course, that is due to the the Muslim inlfux which we must stamp out [I am kidding].

Wow. That tracks with the fall in average national intelligence. Of course, correlation is not necessarily causation.

The mute button helps.

Andrew Jackson, Old Stonewall-blue eyes

It's not just you BDNYC. This one puzzles me too. Andrew Jackson was old Hickory.

I'm assuming the author was trying to be clever. Fail.

My eyes are weird - if I ask 10 different people what color they are, I'll get 10 different answers. I officially use "hazel," (on my driver's license), because I don't really know what that means, so it seems to fit. But I have heard my eyes referred to as gray.

Blue eyes was a mutation about 10,000 years ago. Blue eyed men think blue eyed woman are more attractive while woman and brown eyed men have no eye color preference. My husband and daughters have blue eyes, mine are green.

Obama's eyes are blank.

They have no soul.

Sort of like sociopaths., in fact just like them.

Freeman Hunt said...

Are they calling green hazel? I hate that. Green is green, not always greenish-brown.

Blue-gray is the eye color common to everyone in my family except me. Mine are green.

I have one son who could be said to have gray eyes.

Don't forget, the MSM has layers and layers of editors and fact-checkers, most of whom seem to have skipped from 4th Grade to Graduate Programs in Comparative Literature.

I just have to ask it:

Which are the four presidents likely to have been genitally mutilated?

My brother said, a couple years ago, he thought that it was not long ago that the great majority of Hollywood movie stars had blue eyes and how he had noticed that had changed in the last 10-15 years or so.

Actually, in the 20's and 30's, blue-eyed performers were almost unemployable in Hollywood, since the achromatic black and white film stock of the time did not register blue, which dropped their corneas right out in close-ups.

Later, with the advent of color and panchromatic black and white film stocks, blue and green eyes became popular.

My husband has beautiful green eyes, but his driver's license lists gray, because for whatever reason the DOL does not accept green as an eye color.

Mine are bright blue, one daughter's are also bright blue, another daughter's are a calmer slate blue, the third daughter's are very light brown (almost an amber), and the son's are very dark brown (he is not Caucasian).

I like my blue eyes.
