A commercial featuring Bill Clinton speaking in favor of the Democratic candidate for governor has been getting heavy play here in Maryland. Here's the thing: Bill Clinton looks so blotchy. His complexion was a lot better when he was getting it on a regular basis. Just sayin'.
I didn't know what Gamergate was, so I had to take a peek at wikipedia, so I could understand this article, which is pretty brilliant. The issues are irrelevant (at least to me), what's of interest is the tactics.
If someone says "No Problem" to me, I will say "Should it be?" right back.
Of course, I'm the same person who asks "Oh, are there bad choices here?" if a waiter says "Good choice" when I place my order, or says "I'm not at all patient" when someone says "Thanks for your patience" (when they should really say "I'm sorry you had to wait so long")
I feel like I'm being continually nudged to care about Gamergate but every time I look and consider getting up to speed, I can't believe I have to spend that kind of time understanding something like that. It seems complicated way out of proportion to anything that seems important.
I couldn't get through the article on Gamergate, but popehat made one observation that I have been making again and again myself:
One thing that I find endlessly amusing is that the band of monkeys known as "the cultural left" uses Darwin(tm) as the ultimate rock to beat in the heads of the band of monkeys known as "the cultural right", and yet they do not – in any deep sense – believe in Darwinism.
I try not to wander too far from the right wing echo chamber, but recently I've noticed that the comments at the MSM web sites have taken on a distinctly anti-Obama flavor......or as I'm reading at abcnews.com most commenters call him Obola.
I always thought that my hatred of television was my own, but after reflecting on my comment in the coding thread, I see that it was inherited.
My father did not watch television. That is if you don't count sports. Sports were on all the time. Any sport. There was always a low volume background hum of someone playing a game with a ball. But shows? Forget it.

I'd like to know how my countrymen can stand to hear people say "Absolutely!" at every opportunity, when they mean to say "yes."
I don't know about the rest of you, but I wouldn't let a doctor or dentist touch me who spoke that way.
Humans are supposed to have a brain between the ear and the mouth to process what comes in before spewing it out!
Looks like wetlands to me. What we used call a swamp.

Absolutely!
(That was too easy)

Has Crack moved to Canada ?
@jimbino, the people who say, "Absolutely!" when they mean "yes" are the same people who say, "No problem!" when they mean "you're welcome."

there might be a Star Trek style tricorder on the near term horizon
Susan Lucci could be a contestant on Germany's Next Top Model, she looks Absolutely gorgeous in Devious Maids tv series.
Agree with Irene. Both responses are insincere.
The "absolutely" people are equally annoying as the perpetually equivocating people.
"Folks like us...," said by Michelle Obama takes the cake. (See Drudge)

Wetlands may be connected with the great organic milk shortage.

Pens/Flyers tonight? who do you like?
So where's the post about the pastors being forced to marry a gay couple?
Hubby interviewed for a job in a place we would really really really like to live.
Have about ten days before we will find out.
Trying not to think about it but I can't stop thinking about it.

My son is opening a Brewpub in Milwaukee. Company Brewing. Riverwest.
If you have a tube of Preparation-H in your medicine cabinet make sure it's clean. I'm just saying, in case someone snoops around and looks at it.

Good luck, IHMMP.

@Gahrie
I have been saying it was only a matter of time before we were required to refer to Gay marriage as "holy matrimony."
