"I love the lotus because while growing from mud, it is unstained."

However, those are water lilies not Lotus. The Lotus will be out on the Mississippi soon.

There are wild fires burning in eastern Washington.
The summer wild fires have burned in eastern Washington since time immemorial.

Last night, Obama was fund raising in Seattle. He blamed the wild fires on climate change.

I think he's just making it up now. He has no direction. He's rudderless. The teleprompter strings together several talking points, and Barry collects the checks.

Ann:

Walt Whitman stikes a similar, though fiercer, note in "This Compost." Here's an erstwhile stanza from his awestruck poem on the bounties earth calls forth from human corruption:

"O how can it be that the ground does not sicken?
How can you be alive, you growths of spring?
How can you furnish health, you blood of herbs, roots, orchards, grain?
Are they not continually putting distemper’d corpses within you?
Is not every continent work’d over and over with sour dead?"

-- Came to Althouse for first time in months

-- Notice lead post has nothing whatsoever to do with politics

-- Think to myself, "Hmm, I wonder how long it'll be before a commentator throws in something bad to say about Obama?"

-- Only takes TWO posts

-- Goodbye forever, Althouse

"Goodbye forever, Althouse."

Goodbye, boring left-wing person devoid of fighting spirit and the ability to filter as you read. You are reinforcing the belief that lefties can't hack debate. Why not just skulk away silently? You have to flounce off. That is sooooo lame.

Amusingly ironic to hear mud put down by a guy who has been mud for a thousand years. There could be some of him on my shoe right now.
