"You know, everyone's a little bit gay. It's the truth. Everyone's gay, all it takes is one cocktail. And if that doesn't work, sprinkle something in their drink. That's what I always do."

"I" = Miley Cyrus.

Joking about date rape. She might get some flak here, since she's joking about raping women.

For her age group, that's about right. They try anything.

The funny part to me is her use of the word "cocktail."

Somebody called Imus long ago (talking 70s here) saying that she was a virgin.

"How do you know? Ever fall asleep on a bus?" asked Imus.

No news trucks circled the radio station.

Then there was Kleist's "The Marquise of O" that didn't draw news trucks either.

It's a modern thing. Feminism is about women are victims and men have to change, following with supporting dogma that reaches everywhere.

This is sold to women so they'll watch the programs that sell their eyes to advertisers.

News trucks are the important part of the narrative.

What did Sterling say that was racist? Nothing needs explaining. It's a news truck story.

I didn't know Miley was a Republican.

She gets a pass because she is female.

Cocktail is such an old word.

Anyway, it seems like she's trying new things to grab the spotlight.

It's not even date rape, the victims here would not be on a date.

What she is saying is liquor loosens inhibitions and that some people will swing on the opposite side under certain settings when they are uninhibited. Not exactly a new observation.

Apparently there a school of thought among evolutionary psychologists that the capacity or propensity to commit rape is adaptive, having something to do with internal fertilization and sperm competition.

As I have never even so much as taken advantage of a woman, even in situations of mutual and extreme intoxication, it would seem that I didn't inherit the rape gene.

I did, however, inherit the gene that makes you a compulsive masturbator.

Can someone call Whoopi and find out if this is "rape-rape"?

Put a bit too much sprinkle in the drink and the person spends thirty days in the hospital and needs special glasses. That is a joke about Miley Cyrus attempting to date-rape Hillary Clinton. I thought I would explain that.

Cyrus-on-Clinton Action: it makes for a funny mental picture because of the gap in age and attractiveness and ankle-size, but because the humor is based on beauty and age it could also be considered mean-spirited, as possibly would be imagining hearing a bossy shrill Hillary saying "a little to the left... more tongue, Tongue Girl! that's it that's it That's IT!" Maybe it's funny, maybe it's not, maybe it depends on how accurate your mental Hillary voice is. I imagine Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky both have voice 'images' of Hillary in their heads, but they may not sound alike. If they do sound alike what does this mean for America?

But back to the point: if America found out that Miley tried to date-rape Hillary would that make Hillary more desirable to young voters? Would that make Hillary more desirable to Bill Clinton?

What if it were the Spice Girls and Nancy Pelosi? Sure, the Spice Girls are old news, but there are five of them, that must be worth something.

Would Harry Reid pine over James Franco selfies and dream of a sprinkly drink? See: it is not just women. Although Harry is old, so there is still the age issue of humor. And would James Franco post a selfie of himself and a passed-out naked Harry Reid?

Is there anyone in Congress that you want to see naked? What does this say about you? Did you have a fleeting mental picture? If so, of who? What was I talking about?

Oh yes: Put a bit too much sprinkle in the drink and the person spends thirty days in the hospital and needs special glasses. That is a joke about Miley Cyrus attempting to date-rape Hillary Clinton. I think I have sufficiently explained that.

while her joke was very problematic, i think i am more offended by her constant appropriation of black culture and queer culture.

She could always use highball, but that's probably not much better.

I know this may all be garden variety celebrity attention seeking but to me all of her stunts seem like cries for help.

Cocktails are the new cool. Bespoke cocktails and cocktail pairings with food and cocktail bars. It's what's now.

What Miley said is causing a big hoopla, but it was a joke and I fear we are becoming such uptight scolds. Laugh or don't, but I hope people can let it go.

Is raping men not offensive now?

I think it is all a big to do about nothing but the left has made a career out of making a bid deal out of every little nothing that comes out of the right. So, I want every little nothing to be a big deal until the left cries uncle and regains some send of perspective so that nothings can go back (everywhere) to being nothing.

I started noticing the double-standard in the 70's: It's not rape if a woman does it--and especially if a lesbian does it.

traditionalguy said...

People just can't take a joke anymore...or was she serious?

Anonymous said...

That's what she always does? So even among lesbians, a whore is considered an undesirable sexual partner?

Smilin' Jack said...

This works with cute lesbians, too: "Honey, everyone's a little bit straight. Have another drink and you'll be fine with it. Just think of it as a really big clit...."

Cyrus's crack is also revealing of a culture that actively proselytizes gayness. The notion that everyone would be gay if they would just lose their silly inhibitions is behind the "homophobe" epithet. Why would someone have an irrational, psychologically based fear of homosexuals? As opposed to an aversion, a moral position, concerns about legal overreaching or what have you? What would they be afraid of? The subtext has always been that they are afraid of their own latent, suppressed homosexual urges. Turn the theory around....every gay person is really just a drink away from giving in to their latent heterosexual urges...and the bigotry (and "homophobe") charges would come thick and fast.

Joyful merriment is gay. Drunken stupor is dysfunctional; although, it may be accompanied by sudden bursts of gaiety. Homosexuality is not gay in principle; although, individuals may be circumstantially gay. It is simply an unproductive sexual behavior substituting for a virtual fantasy.

Ah, how low she has fallen, descending on her moral slide to oblivion.

Everyone is not a little gay.

Some people are totally 100% straight.

Well, it wouldn't surprise me if she revealed her crack.

Did she speak of "rape" or "rape-rape". Apparently, the former is a soft form, and tolerable, while the latter is a hard form, and selectively tolerable.

"while her joke was very problematic, i think i am more offended by her constant appropriation of black culture and queer culture."

"Gay culture" used to be Michelangelo and Nureyev. In short, it spoke to humanity. What it's devolved to now is Robert Mapplethorpe and Miley Cyrus making date rape jokes about old women.

Hard to see why they could have a hard time being accepted.

When your musical catalogue is no longer enough to maintain audiences at the levels you've been accustomed to, becoming the stage version of a radio shock jock seems to be the natural progression for ex-Disney TV stars (it may even be written into their contracts by now, since people follow the latest teen phenom just so they'll be up and running when the by-now inevitable train wreck unfolds).

Paul Golba said...

Are you sure she was joking? This is Miley we are talking about. If she said she spent the prior night spooning with space alien nuns in a trailer park in Costa Rica, I believe the proper response is "I knew it!"

The homosexuals I have known, and I have known a few, are mostly angry, bitter, brittle people. They are not gay in any sense of the traditional word.
