I assume that Fleming's National Anthem will show up on YouTube any moment now. I hope and trust that she didn't ululate through it like everyone else called upon to sing it solo ever since I've been alive.
Ann, are you using "operatic" as a synonym for "with a classically trained voice"? It's true that Fleming has a big soprano of the kind associated with Romantic operatic roles, but she doesn't just sing opera.
I'm fairly impressed with Bruno Mars thus far. I expected a Black Eyed Peas like disaster. He knows what he's doing. He might have won me over. Red Hot Chili Peppers were fantastic too.
Renee Fleming's National Anthem was wonderful. I hope more sing it straight like that from now on.
I'm wondering why vets are dying when Obama has a phone and Obama has a pen.
And I'm wondering why the Obamacare website crashed when Obama has a phone and Obama has a pen.
And I'm wondering why Gitmo is still open when Obama has a phone and Obama has a pen.
And I'm wondering why wild eagles are being killed on wind farms when Obama has a phone and Obama has a pen.
And I'm wondering why Iran is developing a bomb and laughing at Obama? When he has a phone and he has a pen.
And I wonder when Obama will start being an American President and stop wishing he was a successful American dictator.
I wonder when Obama will have a Constitution he is proud of.
I wonder when Obama will have a country he is proud of.
But I don't wonder about the Super Bowl because I've already seen Obama's picture. Gush, gush, gush. Actually I'm a NYT reporter and Obama's picture is all I know and all I need to know.
Forget the above questions ... No .. no... not the rats again
Been watching. We were sort of rooting for Peyton, so it kind of sucks. Like an old 70's boring super bowl where the best defense just runs away with it.
I liked the Bruno Mars act. Very retro '60's stagecraft. A lot of James Brown. Stock R&B tunes. Fun. Chili Peppers were just more shirtless old people.
What's the point in going on when you know you are completely beaten? To entertain the audience? To hold on to some phantasmic shred of hope? To retain honor?
The Super Bowl is painful to watch. I looked it up, the lowest score in the Super Bowl was the Dolphins with 3 points. Looks like Denver is trying to beat that.
Nice ad by American Family featuring Russell Wilson. But, was that the voice of Harry Belafonte doing the VoiceOver? If it was what a shame that the old communist was part of something nice.
Just saw the Dylan ad on YouTube. Two thoughts: First, similar to the Clintwood ad a few years back with a US icon pitching the patriotic buy US theme. Second, Dylan has sung about a Chevrolet car in "Union Sundown" where he laments that most of the car is made elsewhere (is Chrysler more US made than other cars?) .
Well, my shoes, they come from Singapore My flashlight’s from Taiwan My tablecloth’s from Malaysia My belt buckle’s from the Amazon You know, this shirt I wear comes from the Philippines And the car I drive is a Chevrolet It was put together down in Argentina By a guy makin’ thirty cents a day,
"SteveR said... Hillary Clinton on Twitter: "@HillaryClinton: It’s so much more fun to watch FOX when it’s someone else being blitzed & sacked! #SuperBowl"
Yeah she so did that"
Think staff, Steve. Staff. I lay you 20-1 that Hilary does not tweet, nor does she think up the tweets.
I love Ann & Meade's canine pictures, wish I was a neighbor so I'd have a "sitter' for my dog. Anyway, would really like an introduction to the actual owners of the dogs borrowed by hosts. Speaking of the stupor bowl, Renee Fleming's CD"Beautiful Voice" is a must listen.
Well, that was a game that only a Seahawks fan could love. Fortunately for me, the 'Hawks are my second-favorite team, so I enjoyed it. Still, XLIII-VIII wasn't very competitive at all.
We ate dinner in the middle of it and so were behind for most of the second half. Husband did a lot of FF to catch up, mostly through Joe Buck's bloviations. The 14 year old renamed them "Joeviations". Husband is a STL boy, so that will stick in this house for a loooong time.
jubilant mood here in Seattle. Plenty of fair-weather fans, but there is a loyal base and they deserve it, especially after those bad calls against the Steelers
The subtext of made in Detroit and that's a hallmark of excellence is not going to sell many cars.......All the car commercials kind of ran together and blotted each other out. I think the Jeep commercial stood out. If you want an adventurous, significant life, Jeep is the way to go, but it's cheaper to just buy Doritos,
As a Broncos fan, the only way to describe that game was "surreal."
From the first play on, it was like the worst possible outcome happened on (almost) each play.
Very strange to see a team not look prepared at all after 2 weeks of you would assume doing exactly that. Oh well. 2-5 in seven Super Bowls, and I get trolled by Cleveland Browns fans on Facebook.

Yep. They seem to always greet you like long lost family members who are plumb overjoyed to reunite. Yesterday we ran into Zeus's old friends, Ramses and Orson, seen here last fall. Good times.
It shows you all the final scores that have never happened from 0-0 to 50-50. A surprisingly large number have never happened. Guess how many before you check.

Nice opera version of the National Anthem by Renee Fleming.
I'm wondering how long I can go without finding out who's playing and who won.
Check in in about 4 hours. Go read a book or watch a movie. I'm in it only for the commercials. Pause & FF are wonderful things.

Denver's kinda bad.
Manning and the Broncos look rattled. Maybe Richard Sherman rant terrified the mile high crowd.
"the Richard Sherman rant"
Classic Super Bowl boringosity.
The network must be sweating over the audience deserting in droves.
Denver is so sad. Is anyone still watching?
Nice Pistachio commercial.
I in fact began this game eating pistachios.
I feel like a winner.
Denver is terrible!
Millions of Seahawks fans are still watching.
Off to bed. Last night's dinner out killed me. That and flying today. Someone tell me which ad was good.
(reads Althousian Pistachio ad plug)
It's not the one with Gangham Style guy is it? I hate that ad.
The commercials are as bad as the game itself.

Bruno or Anthony?
I say Anthony, but lose the mustache.
He looked liked Adam on Girlss.
The Chili Peppers have aged well.
BRONCOS! Give Bruno the ball!!!!!
Loved the Radio Shack ad with cameo by Cliff from Cheers et al.
Good on 'em for fighting back because their old stores are pretty irrelevant as it stands right now.

AIEEEEE
Fleming? Nice. Nice arrangement, too. These days I'm just happy if the singer gets the words right.
I didn't make it to halftime. The commercials have been bad so far

Heh.

The only thing I root for in the Super Bowl is a good game. This one sucks.
Hey! There's Bob whatsisname.
Bob Dylan sells his soul to a Detroit car company owned by Fiat, financed with a billion dollars of bail-out money.
hahahahahahahahaha
Even these commercials suck. So much militarism and American egotism. Nothing really interesting. Bob Dylan hocking Chrysler?
And... wait a sec... Chrysler is owned by Fiat... and it's still "let the Germans brew your beer"-ing us. These commercials don't even make sense!
WTF is Bob Dylan doing in a car commercial? And for the dago-owned Chrysler no less.
The Super Bowl is painful to watch. I looked it up, the lowest score in the Super Bowl was the Dolphins with 3 points. Looks like Denver is trying to beat that.
OMFG, Denver got a touchdown.
Looks like I should keep posting on behalf of Denver.
Prince is on TV they're all selling out.
TOGETHER WE MAKE FOOTBALL... SUCK.
These days I'm just happy if the singer gets the words right.
That's what my spouse said, "It looks like the NFL finally decided to go with someone that knew all the words."
This town is going to be in mourning tomorrow, but there will be a little spring in my step. Don't worry, I won't rub it in.

Kid running... good commercial until the non sequitur Coca-Cola appeared.
Is Pawn Stars on now?
Yeah, I think I hate all Coke commercials now.
Yeah, I think I hate all Coke commercials now.
Memo to Jaguar:
All that Britishness don't belong in an American Super Bowl commercial. We fought a revolution so we wouldn't have to be subject to that.
Loved the half time show. Great energy.
Hillary Clinton on Twitter: "@HillaryClinton: It’s so much more fun to watch FOX when it’s someone else being blitzed & sacked! #SuperBowl"
Yeah she so did that
Didn't see that result coming. I did however, predict about 50 points, but I definitely figuredthey'd be more evenly distributed.
But hey-are they starting up 24 again? That's pretty cool!

Crap. I had the Broncos and 34 points. That ref's call in the middle of the 2nd quarter did me in.
I guess there isn't going to be an insane Sherman rant this time?
CUTE PUPPY!
Makes me wanna get shitfaced drunk on watery beer...
If there is, the reporter needs to kick him in the ankle. Hard.

Yay, it's over! Now it's time for the hookers and cocaine that I ordered on Twitter...
We liked the Dylan ad.
There was also that other ad, for Chobani, with Dylan's "I Want You."
We ate dinner in the middle of it and so were behind for most of the second half. Husband did a lot of FF to catch up, mostly through Joe Buck's bloviations. The 14 year old renamed them "Joeviations". Husband is a STL boy, so that will stick in this house for a loooong time.

Stupid to comment with that info as if is was her. was my point
Not the first time Bob Dylan did a car commercial
2007 Cadillac Escalade

Ain't Labradogs wonderful, and don't they love the snow!
So much militarism and American egotism.
Waah, waah.
We loved every minute of the Russell Wilson/Pete Carroll stomping of Denver.
After the first half of screaming the ladies quit talking about the price of blue berries and joined the men asking what's happening anyway.
I asserted to the group that the first team that scores 50 wins. I was that close.
As a Broncos fan, the only way to describe that game was "surreal."

If anyone was hoping for a bizarre final score like 2-0 or 5-0, both of those are rare but not unprecedented in NFL history. This link is pretty cool:
