"We think of it as the best thing in the world... and they think of it as toxic and nasty and disgusting."

We = organic farmers. They = U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

It = shit.

I think you have to accept some risk when you buy vegetables at the market. Know where your crops come from -- this is a huge help.

The FDA wants to zero out the risk, and that's an impossibility. But being bureaucrats, they aim to try because it is job security.

"There's a lot of uncertainty about exactly how big of a risk this is. But the FDA is saying better safe than sorry."

It appears the FDA has good intentions, I say them let them run roughshod over anyone in the way.

Who do people think they are growing their own food?

We are Americans, not some Libertarian paradise like Somalia or the moon.

The most amazing thing is that left never sees the irony in events such as these.

Human waste is much worse than pigshit or cowshit or chickenshit. We concentrate a lot more heavy metals in our feces. Oh, we weren't talking about heavy metals? Food poisoning? Wash your damn veggies!

I want to die of a healthy, organic disease like cholera and not from one of those plastic, unhealthy diseases caused by pesticides.

LOADED with drugs, over-the-counter, prescription and home-cooked.

"USDA organic standards place NO LIMITS on levels of heavy metals contamination of certified organic foods. Even further, there is no limit on the contamination of PCBs, BPA and other synthetic chemicals that's allowed in certified organic foods, superfoods and supplements."

I once had the opportunity to hear the owner of L.A.'s largest "organic" produce distributorship talk about how the rubes bought veggies from his company. He was laughing heartily, because he said "I just sell them the rotten or lousiest of my regular stuff and call it 'organic' and charge them double. Make twice as much on the stuff that costs me less than half of the regular stuff."

I've never bought "organic" since.

Comment of the day: Curious George

These people, the Liberals, never get it. Ever. They spawn these bureaucracies and then shriek in surprise then the bureaucrats turn and regulate them, the Liberals.

Even the most hideous person with the most horrific sense of irony would never in a million years make up Liberals.

I read the headline and I thought for sure this was going to be about vegemite.
