I was just trying to get a snapshot of my beautiful wife on a beautiful fall afternoon and the next thing I know those two characters, Callaway and Sullivan, amble into the frame and start mugging for the camera. Comedians.
Dog preferences are age-linked. As a kid I was into skinny dogs, whippets and borzois and the like. In my 20s, energetic dogs. Border collies for me. Now? Bassets and corgis.
I've never actually owned a dog; I grew up around Doberman pinschers, and my mom's with a Dobie rescue. I'm talking instinctive preferences here.
I love Bassets (and all hounds). My Basset, Sophie passed away last year (at age 13). She was precious. I have two Beagles now, also wonderful. Thanks for these pictures.

It's a wiener dog! Or is it a basset hound. I always get them mixed up.
Wonderful dog critters!
Wonderful dog critters!
Bassett hounds are beautiful, especially mine.
We have two wonderful basset boys. Thanks for the pictures!
Bassetts!!! Awesome.
Your pictures of pooches always make me smile.
Love basset hounds!!
We have two of their smaller cousins, beagles. Hounds are so much fun to be around.
Do basset hounds bay like beagles? Our neighbor has one and I've never heard a peep out of it.

Is that Fred from the Bandit movies?
My nephew has a basset...named him Fred (that could be a country song!) after the dog in the Bandit movies.
Damn dog weighs a ton, but loves to get in your lap.
He also has a Lab named Leonidas, after the king in the 300. (my nephew watches way to many movies)
One of my favorite basset hounds is Droopy Dog. If you don't remember him, just check out a few episodes on YouTube.
I chuckle every time I look at a Basset. They are good doggies.

The best dogs. Well, next to corgis, maybe.

Sorry basset hound friends, Ann is prettier.
I KNEW it! Those sun glasses are rose colored.
Ann, you must throw like a girl if you need one of those dog ball launchers for a pair of
Bassets. They can "run" about 15 feet. Cheers!
