Off topic, but I watched the finale of "Breaking Bad" and heard the protagonist admit he entered his life of crime because he liked it and it made him feel alive. I recalled the Alhouse post where she said essentially the same thing. Althouse was right!. I am a beliver!
I think I heard Dr. Nancy Snyderman - NBC's "chief medical correspondent" - ask Kathleen Sebelius what her goals for "Obamacare" was on the evening news tonight, and Secretary Sebelius answered that she thought they would be doing really well if they had signed 7 million new customers by March 2014.
Went online to try to create an account for Wisconsin Obamacare exchange.
Bogged down at page 2 (security questions.) No questions were visible and I could not enter my own questions. They would accept answers though.
Also on page 1 the instructions for creating a login name were incorrect. It does not instruct that there must be a capital letter. Indeed it implies that there need not be one. But it would not accept a name without a capital letter.
I have awakened to a shut-down government. Will I notice?
I notice, because I work with noaa.gov people, and even have a noaa.gov email account. I'd check it to see if I have email, but that's apparently against the law today, or something.
I think the training I have scheduled for Thursday will likely be cancelled. I'm kinda curious how my big meeting next week will go if the shutdown is persistent.
@David, we Republicans tried to tell you that given the dearth of leadership from Sebelius and Obama it would take another year to be ready for Obamacare. Were you listening?
The weekend guest who suggested you view ALL previous Breaking Bad episodes so you could watch the finale with him ---your son, pictured with the fabulous dessert.
I'm hoping the shutdown will get my mother-in-law's pension as the widow of a deceased veteran reinstated. The sequestered government wants the benefits they paid her two years ago repaid out of her social security. She was eligible for benefits when the government apparently thought her dementia would put her in a nursing home.
Withdrawal of her benefits seems like a means to force her into a reverse mortgage funded nursing home instead of live-in care in her own home which her husband built when he was still in the Army Air Corps. She won't tolerate a nursing home without heavy sedation.
Benefit entitlement shouldn't be a bureaucratic tool for undermining live-in care in favor of nursing homes and real estate banks.
How will shutting down the government affect her ability to appeal the withdrawal of benefits for which she was and still is eligible?

Thanks, CB. I noticed that too in a review of the finale.
And nothing is off topic in a cafe post.

???
Did I hear that right?
CNN has the countdown clock up to government shutdown. I feel like it's New Year's! :D
On topic. What is that amazing looking dessert, anyway?

Great start!
Looks like the first thing they shut down was the server array for Obamacare.
@Unknown, it looks like a Salzburg nockerl, which is a delicious type of soufflé.

This weekend I saw that there is such a thing as a s'more cookie at Safeway.

Just desserts?

Where is the dessert cafe? Do they have live music there?
