How is paddleboating? It looks nice, but I'd be afraid of losing my balance and falling in!

@Jane Don't worry, just like you don't worry about standing up. The board is stable. It's got a little rudder. Just assume it works and then it's basically a matter of standing up.

You and Meade come to Florida and we'll all go paddle boarding and surfing. the water and air are warm, and the waves are gentle.

Definition - It's not a rudder - it's a "skeg". Of note a Wisconsinite and very famous and influential surfer Tom Blake invented and first put a skeg on a surfboard. He is buried in Ashland, WI. Super Genius and Inventor George Greenough, a direct lineal descendant of Horatio Greenough the sculptor and also the nephew of Beverly Sills invented the modern foiled skeg in the early 60's a direct facsimile of what was attached to the paddle board you were paddling Perfesser.

I have a skeg on my sculling boat (shell). I fixed it this season because I bashed it against the storage garage door putting her into winter storage last October.

A rudder moves, a skeg doesn't. Your differential stroke or paddle force on one side gives you steering. I've lost my skeg while out sculling, and it's hard not to spin around in circles. You have to take gentle short strokes and pick your way back slowly. No power or speed at all--spinnnnn.

Thanks, Surfed! Yeah, I could be like that! It would be great fun to try to do it with surf.

As for "skeg," I will remember that.

Get Meade to Google Hanna Park Bike trails. The Poles in Hanna Park is one of my fave surf spots. The tropical bike trails in Hanna Park are almost legendary for fun. It would give his Go Pro a bunch of new footage. You don't have to post this one.
