Who will the Democrats run against Scott Walker in 2014 for Wisconsin Governor?

This is funny, from Downstate Democrat at Daily Kos:
Wisconsin Democrats appear to be set to run Mary Burke, a former executive of Trek Bicycles....

Despite the fact that Wisconsin Republicans are already trying to paint Burke as an "out-of-touch Madison activist", in reality, she's the Democratic Party's version of Mitt Romney....
I think the interest in Burke is that she has her own money. Walker has lots of money raised during the recall, and so that makes Democrats seem hopeless. They couldn't wait for the next election, had to do the recall, and now they are practically giving up on the next election.

Given the right Democrat, I do think Walker is fairly beatable. The job situation in Wisconsin is not desirable, and an ad campaign featuring his jobs promise might be effective. I think the right Democrat would be from someplace north of Highway 10.

And Trek Bicycle has sent hundreds of jobs to China.

I've enjoyed reading about the drama of Wisconsin politics. Out here in Virginia, even the Democrats who are elected governor would probably do just fine running as Republicans.

It's okay to do that if you're a democrat.

"the Democratic Party's version of Mitt Romney"

Did she make her dog ride on the roof?

Or cut some girl's hair in high school?

Oh, yeah, that's only bad if you're a Republican.

Were that all Dems were as dumb as the Wisconsin ones.

I guess they couldn't talk Tim Sullivan into running as a Democrat. The Dems should run Kathleen Falk; she like Hillary was cheated out of her rightful turn by Tom Barrett.

...Burke is from a conservative, business-minded family and is viewed with suspicion by some Dane County progressives for her support for Madison Prep. Burke's proposed gift of $2.5 million to help start the charter school for African American and Latino kids put her at the center of the major controversy over Madison's achievement gap and whether Madison Prep was the answer. But Burke withdrew her support when the Urban League rejected school board oversight.

Stop helping African American and Latino kids. The democrats have a monopoly on making sure the kids stay in failing schools. (democrat voters for life)

Mary Burke is exactly the kind of person who Scott Walker wants to run against, as Burke is someone who would be downright hostile to the Democratic base in Wisconsin, and, since Wisconsin is a swing state with a highly-polarized electorate, base turnout is much more important for a major-party candidate in a statewide race than winning over swing voters. Burke is even less liked by the Democratic base in Wisconsin than Tom Barrett is.

If the base is for us, who can be against us?

You find that in a Romans letter to Madison... before Madison was a big shot Founding Father and had not being taken to court for alimony.

It will be interesting to see if Walker will be spending more time in Iowa in the coming years.

Remember the book "Summer of the Monkeys"? And how the monkeys are notorious for fixating on shiny but worthless objects, grabbing hold of them, and not letting go--even if it means certain doom?

Stories about Wisconsin Democrats remind me of that book.

MadisonMan is correct when he says that the right Dem could beat Walker--he left himself open when he put up a specific number. However, the dems in WI have not enough discipline to rally around a moderate. The unions and govt employees will continue to drive the party bus. Burke has a lot of limousine liberal in her that combine with lots of liberal Madison arrogance.

The Democrats' best bet to unseat Walker is to hope he gets elected President.

I love it!

The unions failed to get the base out and lost the recall. Burke would not surprise me as the base itself cannot win elections.

Also, without the unions on board she probably will not have the union machine ruining it ala Kathleen Falk.
