Ridicule is one form of publicity. Sanford's connection of Colbert Busch to Pelosi seems to have worked:

My reaction to Sanford is so visceral, that even though it means one less GOP in the House, I hope he goes down in flames. Long term, his loss helps by taking him off the stage, hopefully for the last time.
If he wins, my prayer is for a primary fight in a year...

I haven't seen a picture of the event. Did he use a picture where she's carrying that giant Viking war club of a gavel? That would be sweet.
Heh. After they get elected the first time all members of the House should have to rotate randomly to other districts for their next election. Be hilarious to see how few votes Nancy would get in (most of) Texas, say.
Plus Sanford has the coveted Larry Flynt endorsement locked up.
Sanford's a slime, but Colbert also seems to be a bit of a cuckoo bird.

Imagine how different the Senate would have been all these years if the Democrats had been as publicly critical of Teddy Kennedy as the Republicans are about Sanford. Not that I'm endorsing Sanford, but really, what he did was like a 3 day weekend for Teddy Kennedy.
What he did was more like an extended lunch hour for Teddy. Remember the waitress sandwiches with Chris Dodd?

Sanford was self indulgent and melodramatic. It was a messy divorce, but his actions don't seem vile beyond human comprehension. As adulterers go, he is well within normal limits. We should elect more restrained philanderers to Congress. Send them a message.
Worked, as well it should.
Sanford, now, I find pretty much worthless.
