"Hugo Chavez’s body will be preserved and forever displayed inside a glass tomb at a military museum..."

"... not far from the presidential palace from which he ruled for 14 years, his successor announced Thursday in a Caribbean version of the treatment given Communist revolutionary leaders like Lenin, Mao and Ho Chi Minh."

So reports the Associated Press. How they know what's going to happen forever is beyond me.

What I really mean to say is: The Associated Press should be ashamed of itself.

Can't shame a journalist.

No conscience. No ethics. Once they've got the Narrative it's all over.

They'd be politicians except they can write.

Sort of. Sometimes.

They could do like Walt Disney and use liquid nitrogen.

Yeah, forever is a long time.
How would you like to have the job of embalming this piece of shit? In the Caribbean version of the Communist Revolutionary treatment.
I hope they screw it up and his carcass explodes. All over his special little glass tomb in the museum of military irrelevance.

Communists have this totally awesome embalming method. Mick Jagger's in line for it, too.

Lenin's still lying there. That's not forever yet, but it's an impressive precedent.

AP is still mourning. Cut them some slack.

My Dad is an excellent embalmer. This will sound strange, but it's almost an art taking a body that may have gone through a terrible illness or an accident before death and making it look like it did when the person was alive. Some embalmers are better then others. I learned some tricks watching my Dad that I wish I didn't know about.

It's kind of disturbing thinking of a dead body becoming a tourist attraction.

I'll take the under at 4 Billion years. By then as the sun goes into Red Giant status the whole planet will be crispy crunch. Any takers on the over?

What is it with dictators and being displayed after death?

Chef Mojo said...

Well, if there was any question that Chavez was a commie bastard, I hope this erases it.

And the Russians even got around to burying Lenin back in '08, I think.

chickelit said...

Chavez' body sequesters a good deal of carbon so it's probably for the better. Plus we wouldn't to be taking up or breathing in his carbon atoms as CO2.

edutcher said...

Funny how the Commies have to deify their dead.

Synova said...

Think of it this way... some future generation won't have to dig him up to burn his bones. Conversely, his preserved body can be an eternal testament to the nature of self-aggrandizing criminals.

Either way.

A preserved body of Hitler would be an amazing tourist attraction, don't you think?

A preserved body of Hitler would have been destroyed within a week.

Probably from Allied military personnel pissing on it.

Weekend at Hugo's!

Or maybe the guys can make Hangover 4, where they take his body to Cuba and use it as a raft to escape.

Synova said...

Well, heck... there's always the post mortem display that involves a head on a pike and crows.

dreams said...

Until another dictator comes along and puts a end to that.

BaltoHvar said...

The display will be a fake, but accurate. His mortal remains are long gone, and yes, good riddence.

Synova beat me to it. What I was going to say was that the Venezuelans wouldn't have to have to go to all the bother of digging him up before hanging him posthumously, as the English did with Oliver Cromwell.

Hugo should be buried where his heart always was---in Russian and next to Lenin.

Lenin's corpse is still in the Mausoleum. In 1953 it was joined by the embalmed body of Stalin --- "forever".

At the 22nd Party Congress in 1961, Khrushchev arranged for an old Bolshevik woman named Dora Lazurkina to stand up and announce:

"My heart is always full of Lenin. Comrades, I could survive the most difficult moments only because I carried Lenin in my heart, and always consulted him on what to do. Yesterday I consulted him. He was standing there before me as if he were alive, and he said: "It is unpleasant to be next to Stalin, who did so much harm to the party."

This alleged command from a vision of a dead guy was considered valid grounds to remove Stalin's body from the Mausoleum that same month. So much for eternity.

I find it touching that murderous thugs with a doctrine that lets property owners simply be shot and their property taken in mass capitalist cleansings do still have a soft spot in their cold and dark hearts for the BIG BROTHER of the murderous cult of thieves and thugs the bow before.

Maybe when Obama dies we can do the same for him? After all, he's a dictator too or so he wishes.

"Forever"

Some day, I trust, the Venezuelan people will do with the corpse of Chavez what the Italians did with Mussolini and the Romanians did with Ceaușescu.

Until then, they will live with the consequences of choosing his leadership.

Enh; I don't think the AP is offering a warranty. They're just paraphrasing Maduro's "for all time".

Here's how I smell this: in a historically Catholic culture, he is putting himself forward as a saint. Google incorruptibility.

But he isn't claiming to be a religious saint, he's a socialist secular saint.

Mussolini, Hitler, Franco, Trujillo left a better, cleaner legacy. Nobody wanted to preserve any part of them.....I always found it disturbing that in the gulags prisoners wept at news of Stalin's death. I don't think any prisoner at Auschwitz cried upon hearing that Hitler had passed away.....Many countries have chosen clunkers who led them to ruin but only in Communist countries do we find people so stupified as not to recognize their own ruin.

Eva Peron was also stuffed and almost mounted in a gigantic statue of herself. Unfortunately for Peron ,he was kicked out 3 years later. Her body was hidden,by the military, and eventually buried in Italy.

When the Argentines enticed Peron back ,they gave him the body, some 20 plus years after. The doctor who embalmed her only noticed a finger missing and a slight disfiguration of the nose.

When Peron died, her body was displayed next to his and then she was entombed in Recoleta cemetary.

I think an interesting movie could be made of the body of Eva Peron after her death and the shenanigans of Peron.

I got a fit of giggles when I was viewing Ho Ch Min's body, which is supposed to be revered. Luckily, my Vietnamese guard seemed amused by my amusement rather than angered. It made me believe he held secret anti-Communist thoughts.

He was a two-bit dickhead. He hardly did enough, good or bad, to justify preserving him "forever". He'll be the merest footnote in history, unlike Lenin and Stalin, who did do enough bad to warrant getting out of footnote status. Why would anyone in the world care about an incompetent, corrupt, two-bit, ego-stroking thug like Chavez past tomorrow?

kcom said...

On another note, it's nice to finally see one of these guys actually die prematurely and thereby relieve the country of their leadership. Far too frequently, it seems, they linger on well beyond the tolerance of everyone.

I put a bid in to do it for 315 VEF--about 50 bucks. Now I don't know jackshit about doing it right, but I'm pretty sure that I will be the lowest bid. I was thinking of using hydroflouric acid to preserve it. I'll try that first.

What is it about a vast mob of semi-literate morons, that makes them love and worship a tin-horn dictator? The half-wits who loved Stalin, Chavez, Obama (Mussolini for Morons) -- they don't seem to care what such people do to the country.

Now they're going to freeze-dry Chavez and put him on display, as was done to Lenin. Fair enough. All such people belong in the Smithsonian, in the mummy relic wing.

Awww, Jakie Douchbag is sad that Chavez is dead.

And with such heroic last words as well, "Please don't let me die." Coward, like all leftists.

I take great joy in his passing. May slow lingering deaths come to all communist tyrants, and those who cheer them on.

Isn't the AP just reporting what Maduro said?

“We have decided to prepare the body of our ‘Comandante President,’ to embalm it so that it remains open for all time for the people. Just like Ho Chi Minh. Just like Lenin. Just like Mao Zedong,”

When a man is fighting to live, it takes a real dumbshit to identify his desire to live as cowardice. Leave it to another one of the mean-spirited, third-rate minds of the Althouse lemming brigade to post such a ridiculously absurd opinion.

Remember though that Mom-Jeans and fellow idiot Republicans applauded the strutting of chickenhawks like Dubbya and Cheney. Clearly their understanding of the concept of courage has no basis in reality.
