The day is twenty-four hours. I sleep six hours. That leaves eighteen hours to do something.
This follows the quote on the post. He lived the American dream because he understood what it really is.
My father was a country police officer. All he knew was discipline, performance, and work — not wasting your time.
Arnie, Dad was in the SS.
PS He turned into a girly man in politics, but part of that must have been Maria. How much Kennedy and how much Fitzgerald she is, she's as homely as both of them put together.
When I was a kid in high school, I just wanted to design airplanes and I thought that $25,000 a year was all the money I could ever want. By 1972, I was making about that and I was right. It was enough until Carter and the "Watergate Congress" came along and started to spend money we didn't have.
He's right about the car. Having gotten lease offers for Bentleys and realizing that I can afford such a lease without much of a sweat, it no longer looks that impressive. Now whenever I see a fancy expensive car all I see is the lease payment and I say to myself, who does he think he's fooling?
Thanks for reminding me of one of my favorite things about Schwarzenegger's campaign for governor. I had people telling me he was unqualified to be governor of California because (a) his father was a Nazi, and (b) he didn't even go to his own father's funeral. Sometimes the same people made both arguments, not even noticing that they tend to cancel each other out. I mean, there aren't a lot of legitimate excuses for missing your own father's funeral, if you're rich and can easily afford the travel costs, but if your father was a Nazi, that sounds like a pretty good excuse.
You reached the top when you have an in-house maid that does double duty as a mistress, and a wife that looks the other way so long as she gets to enjoy the political power along side you in public.

Bet you Arnie went and got the gold Rolex wristwatch, though.
Perhaps several.
Maybe with a Piaget or Movado or two for variety.
I like that he said, "goals", not dreams.
Dreams you have when you're asleep.

Arnie just didn't learn enough.

He may have ditched the dream for a Rolls, but he's gone ostentatious in other directions.

No he wasn't. Gustav Schwarzenegger joined the Nazi party and the SA, but he was never in the SS. Big difference.

Anyone who's seen the film "Duma" knows that having a cheetah is a great idea. In the end, is there anything Arnold has been right about?

Not a lot of love lost on Ahnold in this thread, but I really did like him...until he became governor. Kinda ruined his image.
