"Secret Service: We do not consent to our store being searched. It’s not that there’s anything illegal in here..."

"... but we just employ several Colombian prostitutes and we don’t want to tempt you guys."

Sign in the window of a store called Raygun — someplace in Iowa where Obama was appearing. The shopkeeper, Mike Draper, was told he'd have to close 4 hours early and then that he could stay open if he let the Secret Service search the place.  Draper said no to both and got away with it. This actually is America, you know. If you admire Draper, you can buy stuff from him here.

What a story! More of it, please.

Draper should expect to hear from the IRS, EPA, and every other federal LEA quite soon.

The Corporations are People Too t-shirt is a must for every wardrobe!

Can't wait to wear it in Woodstock. Might wear it to the Old Dawgz gig in Woodstock!

Note that in the story, it's Obama campaign staffers telling him what he can and cannot do, not Secret Service.

Political reference to "Raygun" is OK if done with proto hip-hop swag: link

No on Prop 30, BTW.

"Draper, an Obama supporter, told him the sign would stay up."

The version of this story that I read last night stated that the sign had been taken down by the time of Obama's visit.

Great story.

It's the stubbornness of the American people that are our greatest defense against tyranny.

The article also says he's an Obama supporter.

A pro-2nd-Amendment, small business owning, Midwestern man who sells t-shirts celebrating the Marine Corps and cleavage, who supports Obama.

Some funny shirts:

Iowa City: All of our creativity went into our name.

Quad Cities, twice as nice as the Twin Cities.

And I am changing one from Lawrence to Madison. Once you leave Madison, you are in Wisconsin.

I love when citizens do that stuff. And no, you get no special consideration just because you are the President when you are just in town to campaign, which for some is all the time.

So will he be audited in the near future?

My cousins husband sent me this this morning. Hilarious, only downside was the article says he did take the sign down when Obama came. It doesn't say why.

The Obama campaign was not amused. A store clerk told Yahoo News that the sign went up Monday morning, and Obama staffers have asked for its removal. The store is refusing.

Update 6:45 PM: The sign was removed from the window before Obama's rally started Monday evening.

If you were president, and you knew business had to close in order for you to be anywhere near them, wouldn't you make sure you absolutely, positively need to be in that place?

Oh man, my brother would love the 'they see me rollin, they hatin' shirt.

I was in the Twin Cities when Algore came in for a campaign event. He flew in during morning rush hour, causing a couple of major freeways to be closed in the airport to downtown Minneapolis area. Created unbelievable gridlock between 7AM and 8 AM.

He then left during afternoon rush, causing a couple of other freeways to be closed right around 5PM.

You'd think Mr Enviromental would have said "do we have to come and then leave during rush hour? Won't that cause huge traffic issues and tons of wasted gas as people get stuck in traffic? Can't we move this up or back 90 minutes to help with taffic?"

In other words - an idiot.

Ann,

You hear in Philadelphia the Democrats tried to eject Republican poll watcher? A Judge had to FORCE them to seat the Republicans.

That tells you alot. The SS isn't the only ones trying to be bullies.

The Feds have been doing this a lot for a long time.

They count on people not knowing their rights.

Thank you, William Ayers.

No, an American.

Anyone who would say otherwise is an idiot.

My BIL owns a beautiful building on the Mississippi River, and a dem presidential candidate was floating by on a Mississippi River tour. Perhaps during its big anniversary year? Anyhoo...he hung republican candidate signs all over the building in the windows etc. The Secret Service tried to make him take them down and he wouldn't cooperate. So the dem candidate pulls in at that lock and dam, welcomed by his opponent's sign plastered all over the place. Heh heh heh. BIL wouldn't let SS in his building either.
