Love those radiators.

Reminds me of home.

Are they decoration or do they work and, if so, do you have to bleed them every year?

Didn't have the opportunity to comment on this yesterday, so here goes:

Buster Posey.

National League MVP.

Deservedly so.

That guy is rock solid.

In playing two full seasons for the S.F. Giants, he's won two World Series Championships.

Anyway, he's unforgettable. Just ask Reds Catcher Ryan Hanigan couldn’t bear to watch Buster Posey’s Grand Slam off of notorious prick Mat (who the fuck spells "Matt" with just one "t"?) Latos.

The old part of the house is 90 years old.

My old house (my grandfather's, actually) is 100 this year.

Needed a new roof when I sold it, but, otherwise, in pretty good shape.

Nothing like the heat from those radiators. Not necessarily better, but, coming in from the cold, standing next to them is always nice.

My heart says Braun, but yeah it should be Buster. No real question.

"Professor Galbraith has a nice wisecrack, as one would expect, self-serving, about how the Republicans' insistence that they are not wholly responsible for the economic mess won't work, because if you play that game, you can complain that all our economic woes trace to Alexander
Hamilton."

You hear this quote?

WHY THE FUCK NOT?

WHAT DID YOU PAY FOR AND WHO DID YOU PAY, you Republican donors.

Drudge has a link to Israelis claiming rockets from Egyptian territory have been launched:

Two major Israeli newspapers are reporting that rockets fired from Egypt have hit Israel.

"Terrorists in the Sinai Peninsula launched rockets into Israel Friday night," reports the Jerusalem Post. "The rockets fell near an Israeli village on the southern border, causing some damage, but no injuries."

The Israeli daily Haaretz reports, "Rockets fired from direction of Egypt toward Eshkol Regional Council."

It's interesting how rhetoric can get in the way. I wonder how many Israelis right now are thinking the new Egyptian Government is complicit, and how many are wondering about our new Golden God.

Well, I hope Obama isn't asleep right now.

"William F. Buckley, Jr., who died February 27 at age eighty-two, was many things: graduate, and scourge, of Yale University; architect of the modern American conservative movement; founder of National Review; author of fifty books and 5,600 syndicated newspaper columns; host of TV's "Firing Line" (1,054 episodes recorded between 1966 and 1999); peerless debater and lecturer; spy and bestselling spy novelist; millionaire yachtsman; harpsichordist and pianist; bon vivant..."

This is all James Rosen describing William Frank Buckly Junior.

Whose father, as related to his Mexican connections, thank God chose America to partially start to raise young Bill.

Does anyone think that it was one hell of a coincidence that on 9/11 radical Islamic preachers became apoplectic about a little known You Tube video.....Likewise does anyone think that just as Iran's satellite regime in Syria becomes unstable, their other tools in Hamas start firing rockets into Israel. I guess the plan is that everyone can lay aside their internecine quarrels and hate Israel. At any rate, Syria is off the front pages.

I love the below window bookshelves. I think I might do that in my living room. We have far too many books and far too few shelves. Plus you get a window seat or a shelf for plants.

Was there coordination between Islamic preachers in Cairo and Tripoli and armed terrorists in BenGhazi? Is there closer coordination between these disparate groups and our State and Intelligence departments?....Likewise, why is no one mentioning that Hamas and Syria are wholly owned subsidiaries of Iran and speculating on Iranian involvemnt in this "spontaneous" Palestinian crisis. Iran and Syria may have already won. If Assad wants to murder a few thousand protestors, the ideal time would be during an Israeli invasion of Palestine. Also, that would be a fine time for Iran to take a few steps forward in their nuclear program.....I wonder if anyone in Palestine feels that they are being manipulated, or are they so fixated on their hatred of Israel that they just don't care.

Twinkies are f'n gross.

You could do as well or better with boxed cake mix.

And do better with the filling.

I have a pan made for East coast style hotdog buns. It's like a flat bread with bumps in it the shape of Twinkies. You cut through for individual hotdog buns, like cakes. So each pan makes about 10 hotdog buns.

Then squish a filling inside using a pastry bag. You poke a hole in it and like a surgeon deposit the filling by squeezing the bag while simultaneously withdrawing the fill tip through the puncture with machine like precision.

But the chocolate cupcakes are better. With the white curly frosting on top of thin chocolate ganache. Those can be improved too.

The filling. It's like a whipped cream foam. Lemon custard would be better, or banana. But if you're stuck on white foam then real whipped cream. Or you could jab the can of spray whipped cream in there but then you couldn't control the flavor of it.

We can talk about anything, right? Can we talk about Inga, er Allie?

She says she voted for Obama, but she wont' tell us why. But she continues to say what jerks those who supported Romney are.

Does anyone agree with me that it's wrong for Inga to do this without letting us all know what value she expects out of Obama?

It seems to me, the well is dry on the "We are a rich country, you can't say we can't afford it." That's the way Health Care was presented, right? It will reduce costs!

So we need to now keep people like Inga accountable. She needs to let us know what improvements her man is going to provide. Or, she's simply a big mouth, with nothing to say.

Prove me wrong, Inga! What is going to change under Obama, to make things better?

There were reports to that end, that the whole thing was very much a set-up, but that interfered with Dictator Zero's narrative, so it fell off the radar.

Oop is a moby and part of what Professor Jacobson calls Operation Demoralize, the purpose of which is to spread FUD within Conservative ranks.

And, yes, by all means, hold their feet to the fire.

It's astounding how quickly a lot of these people will drop off a thread once you start nailing them point for point on their assertions.

Petraeus was successful in Iraq but could not translate that success to the different environment of A-stan. (This is my own opinion.) He lacked adaptability and perception. (He also could only digest a briefing in PowerPoint bites.)

No, dear, A-stan broke because Commandante Zero knew he was smarter than the generals who have made war their profession.

He did it his way and loused it up.

The same with everything else.

To the surprise of almost no one.

AL MVP Cabrera. How many times has a team's star player switched positions (1b to 3b) to help the team and then gone out that season and won the triple crown?

Trout's a great player but they did him a disservice by creating this controversy. Baseball pundits got paid by the word for their drivel but it created a weight of expectations that does Trout no good.

Ann,

I am interested in your glass top metal frame coffee table in front of the fireplace as shown in the last Café post pic.

Is that an original?

I have seen that exact table in a photo of the interior of the Philip Johnson Glass House.

It is a classic piece.

I have the same table and I am interested in tracking down the original name and manufacturer.

Someone had posted something about Mark Steyn's latest column on racial and ethnic demographics in America in another thread, and Althouse said he was a "Moby". I deleted my reply there, but I'l dump in in this open thread:

---

Jeffery: Finally, someone in the mainstream is noting the obvious.

That's been Steyn's pet issue for years, and the National Review's as well. Not coincidentally the National Review had to fire two writers in the last year because they turned out to be hardcore white supremacists.

If the GOP wants to start being a party that believes in limited government, free markets, and individual liberty, they should do so and focus on those issues in a principled way that can win over people. What Latino immigrants hear coming from the GOP is talk of walls, fences, armed border guards, police asking to see peoples' papers, etc etc etc, and they're called names like "mooches" on top of it. Given the choice between two Big Government parties - with one side saying they want to shoot people on the border and check your papers on the streets and the other side saying they want you to have education, health care, etc. - it is no surprise the vast majority of Latinos choose the Democrats.

Sorry, don't know all the rules. I was merely trying to use one of Allie's tactics, of shaming he/she/it with more numbers. As Pippin from LOTR says: I won't do it again.
