Obama raised $181 million in September.

"It seems clear that many Obama supporters who were sitting on the sidelines became energized about this race last month."

I had not realized is the hatred the POTUS has for Romney, until I read the $2.99 book by Thursh.

http://www.politico.com/bookshelf/books/details/9780679645092/obamas-last-stand-playbook-2012-politico-inside-election-2012-by-politicos-glenn-thrush

This is evidence of why the POTUS did not look at Romney.

This is the proof of what the POTUS will do to Romney in the next debate. He will stare at him and the media will back him up.

SO, the game is ON. Who will blink first?

I predict Romney, as the PRess will say he blinked first.

As I told you all before.

Who is the DECIDER?

NYT, MSNBC, CNN, ABC, etc.

The voters are puppets.

Pre-paid credit cards, and turning off the credit card validation. He's skirting all the rules, and most of the money is un-traceable.

This would be proof of corruption, and proof that Obama is a sycophant of the corporations if only he were a Republican.

But now, of course, the Romster camp is also energized.

Shocked!

You notice how the folks who complain about Citizens United and how awful big money is for the American political system, never, ever mention that Obama turned down public financing in 2008. He then proceeded to raise $750M, dwarfing not only the money McCain had, but also dwarfing the amount of money raised by any previous campaign.

But, we all know that the $750M came from widows & orphans, so it was okay.

Wonder how many had buyer's remorse after the first debate.

I can't find links. But in primary 2008 this was a big topic. There were no checks on Obama's website for collecting credit card donations, it could come from anywhere and everywhere and whoever and whatever the limit. People wrote about it then and even demonstrated it with screen shots. Googling I can't find any links to those stories.

This happened in primary 2008 and then in General too. Can't find any links to stories from that time.

They were pretty much suppressed by the media but there is supposed to be a big expose' Monday coming out by a magazine. This is all illegal by campaign finance law. A Romney DoJ might be a lot more interested in prosecution.

Google 'primary 2008 Obama credit card donations' and you get a bunch of articles about what happened then and what is happening now.

SteveR said...

The problem they have is they are basing the campaign on a characterization of Romney which has been shown not to be true. Not about what Obama will do, since we already know, already know that won't work.

This was an article published in NYT literally 4 days before general election in 2008. We, Hillary supporters cried foul during the primary because it happened then too but no one was listening.

Was Obama rattled by developing donor scandal story?

President Obama's reelection campaign, rattled by his Wednesday night debate performance, could be in for even worse news. According to knowledgeable sources, a national magazine and a national web site are preparing a blockbuster donor scandal story.

Sources told Secrets that the Obama campaign has been trying to block the story. But a key source said it plans to publish the story Friday or, more likely, Monday.

According to the sources, a taxpayer watchdog group conducted a nine-month investigation into presidential and congressional fundraising and has uncovered thousands of cases of credit card solicitations and donations to Obama and Capitol Hill, allegedly from unsecure accounts, and many from overseas. That might be a violation of federal election laws.

The Obama campaign has received hundreds of millions in small dollar donations, many via credit card donations through their website. On Thursday, the campaign announced a record September donor haul of $150 million.

At the end of the 2008 presidential campaign, the Obama-Biden effort was hit with a similar scandal. At the time, the Washington Post reported that the Obama campaign let donors use "largely untraceable prepaid credit cards that could potentially be used to evade limits on how much an individual is legally allowed to give or to mask a contributor's identity."

And this Obama guy is the one everybody in 2008 expected to clean up Washington. What a joke! We alerted everybody in primary 2008 but nobody cared. After umpteen trillions dollars in debt and economy in shambles and 4 years gone wasted with no proactive action to bring back any growth, people still have not woken up. Just really sad.

clint said...

How much of that was from untraceable pre-paid credit cards?

How much of that did we pay for through the billions that the "Stimulus" funneled to ACORN?

Obama loathes Citizens United... In theory... but to his credit, he has adjusted to its undesirable application quite nicely.

Can’t say Obama doesn’t adapt.

I saw an article about pre-paid credit cards just the other day. It might have been a link off of drudgereport. (yeah, I don't wander very far off the reservation.)

Try googling "obama prepaid credit card", and the first hit is the Washington Post from 2008.

In 2008, he had $5 and $10 donations from "asdf asdf", and Mickey Mouse. I thought a journalist might follow up on something like that.

Nah...just crickets!

David said...

The article says the average contribution is $53. I wonder what the median is? A hell of a lot higher for sure.

The total is really remarkable. There's a story here. Will we ever learn what it is?

Doubling down on failure.

Bad investment unless you're a crony capitalist or public employee union.

In which case you have no where to turn.

I wonder how much of the money is foreign?

We'll never know.

Obama should donate the money to PBS to save Big Bird. He's 40 percent of the way there in just September.

I figured all those prepaid credit card donations were from the Mexican Drug Cartels. And Holder made sure they got their money's worth, didn't he?

Obama campaign just released their September numbers raised over 181 million, almost a record....

WTF do republicans, conservatives not give money, they want Romney to win , they know that a Obama second term will cement America decline...

But the welfare takers and liberals are more willing to put their money to get Obama elected...what wrong with conservatives in America how is Romney going to win, when Obama has the media propagandizing for him, more money then Romney and republicans and the incumbacy he doesn't pay to fly all over the country , security for rallies, free media, and the ability to all the other dirty tricks, unemployment numbers, telling defense contractors to not tell their workers about their job loses.

Shit would you people open your wallets... Because when your taxed to shiz to pay for Obamacare and all the massive spending and debt in Obama second term with higher gas. And food and worst healthcare... They maybe you might wonder why you didn't volunteer or donate to elect Republicans.

Thank you, David! for calling attention to my links.

Do you know what we haven't heard lately?

Outrage about thus-and-so group giving money to a candidate.

Think about it.

I'm not certain but it's possible some embarrassing group gave money to Hillary and she had to vow to give it back. In past elections I remember saying that if it were me I wouldn't vow to give money back to embarrassing groups, I'd just say too bad for them if they think they get something for it.

That hasn't happened this time around has it?

Has the media decided not to watch donations because it's not a story anymore? Or do they just want cover for not noticing where Obama's "small donations" come from?

$181 mil? I don't believe it.

That's almost half as much as the total amount raised by the McCain campaign in 2008. Not that the McCain campaign was anything to brag about, but even so.

Much of that $181 mil has got to be dirty money. But nothing will be done about it anymore than last time.

He gets away with it because his voters and the media don't care. If it was a republican it would lead the news.

I blame the voters for the state of the country.

All anyone needs is a credit card number. Any credit card number. YOUR credit card number, say. All the checks and safeties have been turned off. Like last time. So when you had your card to the waitstaff, someone that has found the true One writes it down. Then they go to a public internet connection like a library and lake a donation with your money. They do it in Europe with vacation travelers. No correct address needed. No validation codes or expiration date. Oh, sure, if you spot it and complain the card issuer will give it back. But most don't check or think that their spouse or kids did it and let it go. The people taking a dump on a squad car are running the country. They spit on you and laugh. And you vote for their leaders.

It's probably small prepaid credit card contributions from Emirs.

Republicans and conservatives have this distressing quality know as ethics. They might even be called "law abiding." Obama donors are well know for bundling thousands of illegal small donations to avoid the disclosure rules.

There was a story from 2008 about a wealthy guy whose name was used to donate $175,000 to Obama in amounts less than $200 each. Of course, Holder's DoJ is uninterested in such stories. Romney's might be,

Paul said...

Yea they are 'energized'. All them Arabs, Chinese, Russians, Iranians, etc... that give those untraceable small credit card donations, just like the last 4 years.

They really are energized! Hope and Change for ya.

Obama could accept bags of cash from Columbian drug lords, the Mob and Al Qaeda on the White House lawn and the media would ignore it.

However Romney gets donations from the Koch Brothers whose major sin is that they are rich and conservative.

Can anyone imagine Romney asking people to forgo wedding gifts to donate to his campaign?

I have a feeling that if Obama keeps running the lackluster campaign he's run so far there are going to be some nasty tell all books.

Clint nailed it above. Remember what O's first priority was upon taking office? Remember how much of that stimulus money couldn't be accounted for? (Am I misremembering, or was it Elizabeth Warren who just couldn't figure out where all that money went?) Does anybody think that was too early for Team O to be laying re-election plans?
