"In my mind I'm goin' to Carolina"... to vote for Barack Obama.

"Carolina in My Mind" is one of my all-time favorite songs. Here are the lyrics, in case the parody gods inspire you. Can't you just feel the moonshine... the pot... and a little blow?
Dark and silent late last night
I think I might have heard the highway calling
Geese in flight and dogs that bite
Signs that might be omens say I'm going, going
I think I might have heard the highway calling....

Had to share this video with the Althousnistas:

Mitt Romney, denying he took more federal money for the Olympic Games, then caught bragging how much more he took.

More federal subsidy than the 7 previous Olympic Games. He milked 18 federal agencies.

Governor Romney, you didn't build that all on your own!

Pretty dirty post considering that
NC voters find a vote for Romney turns out to be a vote for Obama on touchscreen machines.

Sher Coromalis, says she cast her ballot for Governor Mitt Romney, but every time she entered her vote the machine defaulted to President Obama.

“I was so upset that this could happen,” said Coromalis.

Guilford County Board of Elections Director George Gilbert says the problem arises every election. It can be resolved after the machine is re-calibrated by poll workers.

“It’s not a conspiracy it’s just a machine that needs to be corrected,” Gilbert said.

After the third try, Coromalis says she was able to get her vote counted for Gov. Romney but was still annoyed.

How could the "error" have happened in the first place? How many people are truly sure who they really voted for?

Similar problems reported in at least two other towns in the State.

James Taylor, well-respected economist and middle-class citizen: "We need four more years of repair"

Which doesn't match very well with the answer to the question, "Are you better off now than you were four years ago."

Romney's Olympics?
A success.

Barack Obama and Bill Ayers looting The Annenberg Foundation for their Chicago school sytem ideas?

A dismal failure--one for a generation of education/business school case studies.

The lyric that came to me last night on the train ride home was this song for the hapless liberal:

He will promise you more
Than the Garden of Eden
Then he'll carelessly cut you
And laugh while you're bleedin'
But he'll bring out the best
And the worst you can be
Blame it all on yourself
Cause he's always Obama to me

I can see how that is a simple coding problem (you forget to set up two different pointers.) I mean, it would be like forgetting to add a USB slot to a computer these days -- an amateur mistake professionals should never make -- but I can see it being an accident.

The question is: How many people got hit by it without noticing the error? I doubt she was the first voter in there that day, who also happened to be the first voter to -finish- voting and stopped anyone else from voting till the machines were "recalibrated."

I'm pretty sure it is just idiots being idiots.

I loved the title on that You Tube page. "Romney is finished !

The video doesn't support your point and he is almost finished winning the election.

The lefties tried to use the same argument on Ryan. When the pigs are shouldering up to the trough, it's a rare Congressman (like Boehner) who doesn't take his district's share.

Nice try.

But his nest egg is being managed by Romney's friends or Romney-like people.

wanker -- That's a good word. Better than liar. All politicians are wankers. I can live with that and vote without remorse.

It's like when your kids start a mud fight in the back yard and you come out and you could call them idiots but instead you call them knuckleheads.

Takes the edge off.

There comes a time when you call a tow truck and have them pick up your car at the garage that's asking for more time, and have them take it to another garage.

AP poll shows no gender gap.

Michigan poll shows 47-47 tie in Michigan, a state Obama won by 16 in 2008.

NY Times runs article pre-blaming Bill Clinton's lousy advice for costing Obama re-election.

Romney draws 10k+ (and turns away thousands more due to lack of space) to Red Rocks and Obama campaign doesn't release photos of "crowd" at Obama's rally same-day in dwtn Denver.

Obama uses vulgar term to reporter to describe Romney.

Yeah, libs, Obama's got this thing in the bag.

Heh.

Let me get this straight:

9/11 and everyone was wondering whether we could even hold the olympics safely.

That might be a difference to account for the use of federal money.

Also, let's see - how about if we compare apples to apples: Romney's use of federal money versus Obama's.

Romney deliveres on time and under budget (there was a $50M surplus if I recall.)

Obama blows the budget out of the water and hasn't delivered anything, really.

So. It is easy to say Obama didn't build that when Obama hasn't built anything.

At all.

I can't even watch the news. Ugly.

The last weeks are always like this now, with the news cycles so fast. I think everything is a hoax, or blown out of per-portion.

So he's got your vote then? That wouldn't get me to vote for him, but it should do it for you.

This year? A private show to a handful of college volunteers.

James Taylor is a very kind and nice guy. I've witnessed that myself on a number of occasions when the camera weren't rolling.

He's just naive when it comes to public policy.

I think what he is doing is fine and the video is well produced. He means well.

I think he's an idiot for supporting Obama and pray we don't have 4 more years of Obama "investing" and "repairing" our economy into bankruptcy...

I never understood the idiocy of entertainers spouting their politics. No matter what your view is, you are bound to antagonize someone. As a businessman I just can't conceive why anyone would want to turn off a potential customer.

Now obviously if one is a political entertainer like Limbaugh or Maher, that's your shtik but if you are trying to get the widest possible audience why would you want to alienate a potential buyer?

Of course rules do have exceptions, if you are old, retired, very rich and don't need to care if you alienate some of your potential audience like Eastwood then you no longer have to worry about losing a portion of the potential audience but first you have to get to that sweet spot to have that luxury. As for Sweet Baby James, yes go Carolina and vote, it's your right but as someone once said, it escapes me for the moment, asking for political advice and opinion from a musician is about as sensible asking musical advice and opinion from a politician.

Interesting he had no problem marrying money.

After all, Carly Simon's dad is the Simon of Simon & Shuster.

Wonder how much he got in the divorce?

I thought Carly Simon was the daughter of one of the brothers from Simon and Simon?

I always vote for whoever the last star's endorsement I see. Works every time.

The corollary being never underestimate democratic idiots being dumber than a box of rocks...ie) the Florida letters to R voters. FBI loves concrete evidence.

Springsteen was in Charlottesville, VA the other day for a concert. Decided to do a free solo acoustic show as an Obama event earlier in the day. They eventually managed to give away most of the tickets. Still wasn't a full venue.

He started the set off with much faux Guthrie preachiness and segued into "No Surrender."

It sounded like an ironic dirge.

The rest of it was painfully predictable. Intellectual vacuousness posing as political wisdom, punctuated by lame Dylanesque imitations of Woody Guthrie stylings, belted out by a guy richer than god.

I tend to try to separate artists from their politics, but lately, I'm having less success with that, especially if the art suffers for the politics. Springsteen has been lost for years now, wallowing in perceived self importance. I really enjoyed the contrast between the press ranking on Ann Romney and horses, while seeing the pictures of Bruce cheering on his daughter on her horse in London over the summer. Sweet hypocrisy.

Notice that the rest of the band doesn't participate in these little exercises.
