Decided to hold off on the iPod dock until they start figuring out how to deal with the new iPhone.

Kids' preschool has an open house tonight but it should be done before the VP debate. Hoping before then to finish listening to this great Seiji Ozawa recording of Tales of Hoffmann with Domingo and Gruberova.

Kids are watching Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet Frankenstein from the DVR because they get pissed when I put baseball on. Still, the Reds are getting crushed, so all is well in the world.

Woof, woof, woof. It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood.

Even the CNN news babes are holding Stephanie Cutter's feet to the fire on the Benghazigate timeline. The gist of CNN's spin is that Hillary is good and that Obama is bad.

Who would have thunk it?

And the early voting has started as the first debate debacle and Benghazigate are dominating the news.

It's a beautiful day for a Yankee fan.

A beautiful day indeed.

Given the photo, this may be a more appropriate place for me to observe that Pres. Obama named his dog after himself, and to ask: "Is that weird, or what?"

Sorun said...

I bet that dog doesn't give a rat's ass about affirmative action. Probably doesn't even care much about the election.

Dad had a pooch like that when he was old. Rescue dog.
She was a sweet thing except for the time she killed a full grown raccoon in her territory.
Cinnamon laid at Dad's feet and when he moved his wheelchair, she would scuffle up on the Terrazo (mid century Florida home)and move till she was under his feet again.
She outlived him, but when it was time to go, my Brother-in-law the vet came out and walked her outside and sat with her under the grapefruit tree, sparing her that ride to his clinic.
We sprinkled her ashes on Dad's grave looking up to Newfound Gap in the Smoky Mountains.
Hospice on four paws.

Just sit someplace quiet and Sherlock will take a nap at your feet.

No, just a complete narcissist.

Although it could be worse.

Teddy Kennedy named his dog, "Splash".

Real classy, huh?

I'm interested in the debate tonight, but I doubt I'll watch more than 5 minutes or so of it. I will listen to what everyone says about it after the fact.

Generally I can't watch debates since I find what the candidates say either tedious or enraging. I can't be objective and I just get mad.

Pierre,
Ms. Althouse already decided who she will vote for. That's week-old news.

You have never been loved like being loved by a dog. Unconditional, never ending, totally needing you....

I can't imagine that dog (and the other one that appears here, the yellow one?) doing much barking - they always look too dignified to do much of that.

My S.F. Giants, behind two games to none in a five game series, win three in a row in Cincinnati, winning their NLDS Series with the Reds.

Next stop: Nats or Cards.

GO GIANTS!

Bruce's last at bat was nearly epic. I salute him. Well done.

I'm feeling nostalgic. Do you remember when all of the cool kids dissected the government's motives and drove around with "Question Authority" bumperstickers on their cars?

In a stunning upset, Stanford professor, one of two U.S. scientists, and NOT Barack Obama, to win Nobel chemistry prize.

Observers of the Nobel Prize Committee were stunned by this development, noting that Obama was no more qualified for the Nobel Peace Prize he won than he would have been for the prize in Chemistry.

How did you like Sergio channeling Brian Wilson? And that GD John Miller nearly jinxing Sergio "never hit by a Red in this series" Romo??

I need a drink.

Love Sergio - channeling Wilson, great: winning without Wilson, even better!

Miller is dulling - no where near as sharp as before. I didn't understand why ESPN let him go, but now I think I do.

Anyway, one has to love the heart of this team: down 0-2, go on the road to powerhouse team in a band box, and beat them, three in a row. I resigned myself to them losing (didn't everyone?!), but they did it.

Still concerned with starting pitching though.

Nonetheless, I want the Nats instead of the Cards. Cards have playoff experience, Nats don't. The one advantage of the Cards though, is home field advantage - but our boys play better on the road anyway, so who knows?

Drink? Yep. Me too.

Manhattan.

Three parts Bulleit Rye; One part Dolin Sweet Vermouth, three dashes Angostura, stirred in shaker with ice, garnished with one cherry, straight up.

Nice.

Very nice.

Whoever told you that is a heartless moron. The sheer idiocy to think that a symbiotic relationship between humans and dogs isn't a reciprocal love. It may not be human love, but it is love. I see him as a member of my family, he sees me as a member of his pack. Two distinct and different points of view with different yet convergent goals, but not devoid of love from either end. This perpetual need to douse the fire of love for the cold hard steel of unemotional pragmatic living is suicidal.

Dogs will learn to ruin photographs.

You can postpone this moment by shooting while maintaining eye contact with the dog, and accepting a certain quota of mis-aimed shots.

So it looks like California is the culprit for the supposed improvement in jobless claims (339,000 claims versus an expected 365,000). Allegedly they weren't necessarily trying to pump the tires on their guy Obama, in an effort to make him look better, but it appears they don't have enough staff to process all of the applications for unemployment benefits. Temporary predicament or long-term trend? CA is broke.

Irene said...

"Also turn off the camera click option."

Yes! One of our dogs runs to the window whenever he hears the camera click. He's conditioned to think that when I turn on the camera, there must be a deer in the yard.

Gotta hand it to the Giants. They built it.

I'm looking forward to next season's Reds and Brewers. And Cardinals - who won Meadhouse hearts last year, the way they never gave up and battled to the end. And they still look like the team to beat the rest of the way this postseason.

She got it full in the face. Silly dog. She thinks every creature she meets wants to play.
After her extensive bath we tried a paste made from hydrogenproxide and baking soda. It seems to be working.
No amount of hydrogenproxide is going to make Biden smell any better.
