The happiest students are at the University of Wisconsin—Madison.

It's a HuffPo top 10 list, and we're #1.

Details here. Our highest-rated factor is sports culture, beating out political activity, which is second. Politics only second? That's a lot of sports! Go Badgers!

They're not happy, they're in a constant state of eruption from beer, brats and cheese curds.

Shouldn't political activity be inversely related to student happiness?

How can people at Vassar or Barnard be happy about the debt they are accruing?

"Vassar or Barnard be happy about the debt they are accruing"

Maybe most of them have/had a rich daddy, like silver spoon mittens.

I wonder if Hot Air wouldn't have picked Hillsdale students as happiest.

Had the recall been successful politics and not sports would have been number one.

It would be interesting to match college ratings such as "party school" or "student happiness" with "annual income rate 6 months after graduation".

Whats that saying success has a thousand fathers but failure is an orphan?

Oh.. wait.. thats mothers.. dont want to run up against the GOP theme.

Brian, the Vassar student quoted, likely, gets laid alot

Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son.

But it buys some transitory happiness during your college years.

Who's surprised?

They live in 200 square miles of never-never land surrounded by reality.

They obviously never checked out Villanova.

You mean a rich Grandma like Kenya-born Barry.

Don't Madison kids riot and set fire to stuff every once in a while?

I suspect the Madisonians are eating, drinking and making merry as we are designed to do.

Add the intelligence of the faculty that Althouse and Meade have raised considerably over the years and the unique place shines like a Cheesehead on a high place.

That's just the beer talking.

@Lyle

Kids from other places used to come to Madison and do that, but not so much anymore.

What shape are the beer glasses in Madison? That's the important thing.

Yay! My alma mater ranks number two! (Which is, incidentally, also the school motto.) This despite the lack of big-time sports on campus. It could be that students' lack of political involvement compensates for that absence.

My alma was number 5. The year I went there we were ranked number 2 party school which we all thought was funny. We definitely had more fun than georgetown.

Today's UW students need to appreciate what they've got in the way of sports culture because 20-25 years ago we were the laughingstock of the big ten.

Shalala, Richter and Barry. And later Bennett and Bo.

UW students owe a debt of gratitude to them for making the basketball and football programs national heavy weights.

I wonder how many of those "student" athletes taking the field today could even make it onto campus without their ball skills?
