"This is probably one of the most obnoxious things I've ever seen."

"After my ears stop bleeding from the music, and my eyes stop bleeding from this hot mess of silly text and bad editing maybe I can find words for how loathsome I find this."
If this couple had wanted some weird busy-body taking pictures, I'm pretty sure they would have hired a photographers for the big moment. Now they're on YouTube because some hillbilly thinks they have a viral video on their hands.

Gladys Kravitz, please just close the curtain and go sit on the sofa....

Well, one thing is for certain. It is NOT a picture of a proposal.... This is a scam for publicity.
Ha ha. I love when I think something is bullshit and the comments are already there calling bullshit.

UPDATE: "It wasn't a proposal."

I'm looking forward to the Chip Ahoy animation of this one.

Does he ever work blue?

His wife probably saw her husband on the video with the young woman by now.

Ah, more of that wonderful liberal tolerance and civility.

Allie, the next time you decide to whine about why we can't all get along, I refer you to the scum crawling in the slime at HuffPo.

I don't care if it is a hoax or not. Rule 34 is in effect anyway. I already did my part. So please give me 30 mins or so before you post another.

Did you play the video w/ the sound off, Christopher?

It does seem a little odd. People are usually pretty good at detecting a set up, but they forgive it it it's well done.

Christopher, what are you talking about, you make absolutely no sense. Do you know the political ideology of the persons posting the negative comments there?

I think the picture and story is touching, I want it to be true.

I can't believe anybody at Puffington had an instinct to do the right thing.

The mind reels.

Chip, no I didn't play the sound. I saw the story when I fired up my home computer and it said nothing about a video. If it's treacly, well, people have a right to that. It's the "hillbilly" comment that gets under my skin.

Allie - I think the story is touching, too. However, it's rare that people on the right side of the spectrum use "hillbilly" as a slur with the same sort of venom the HuffPoster did. So I think I'm on fairly solid ground considering it to be a leftist.

I don't care about the video either way, but the story makes an error. There is no "Washington War Memorial," in Washington.

There are a number of war memorials in Washington, but no "Washington War Memorial."

How come the Puffington Host can't figure that out?

Besides which, who the hell gets engaged a war memorial?

I like the comments calling bs too. It gives me hope for the future. But sometimes entire strings call bs on something that is actually valid or it is so confusing that every single one of them gets it wrong.

An example of that. I found quite impressive. Two boys are singing Rossini's Cats Duet and it is amusing. They are dressed as choir boys, it appears, but the robes are wrong, entirely wrong, they seem more acolyte and the thick wooden crosses they wear are anachronistic. The cowls are wrong. The costumes have everybody thrown off. The anti Christian comments are, well, there they all are.

There is another video of the same boys singing the same song with a known French choir, and yet another video with the same two boys. A scene from Golden Angels with seriously pervy connotation. A bending over breathing exercise where the instructor walks behind the boys and touches indicating a proper bend. And it's in pervy French.

I suppose I should link. This is the one that confused everybody, the pervy one is suggested on the side. If not then [duetto buffo di due gatti ]

Nobody gets the boys are acting as choir boys, one as if he can hardly stand being there, the other having a bit of fun with the situation (of being stuck a choir boy).

The video seems to be of the "Memorial for World War I Veterans of Washington City, District of Columbia."

World War 1 was the forgotten war before the Korean War was the forgotten war.

Pity the writer at Puff Ho didn't care enough about the facts or the veterans to google the image.

Me too. A few months ago my wife told me I was too cynical, and that it was rubbing off on my 10 year old. So I'm trying. Problem is, cynicism is too often rewarded by being correct. I'm getting better though. Sometimes it's alright to believe in happiness. Just gotta be careful not to lose sight of reality.

The only story more nauseating than this is the feature written by a NY Times writer about his girlfriend getting an abortion. I almost lost it when his girlfriend declined a glass of wine because" it might hurt the baby" she was about to abort.

Do any of these people have self awareness ?

cynics are silly. whatever.

The video is annoying and i watched it with the sound off. but I see nothing to indicate there wasnt a actual proposal. Its not like proposing like that is unheard of by military people.
