Subliminality.

Here's something the Obama campaign did in an ad — displaying the word "felons" for 6 seconds on a graph labeled "Romney."

More locally, a candidate named Mark Pocan, running for Congress in my district, had an ad displaying the word "assassination" over a photograph of his opponent — Kelda Helen Roys — looking oddly like Lee Harvey Oswald!

WV = Subsliminal (beneath sliming)

Wow that Meade--he sure likes the Isthmus comment section--more than Althouse, apparently.

Supposedly, Choom is about to go positive and tell us all the swell things this Administration has accomplished.

I have a feeling Axelrod and Plouffe have put the summer U of Chicago creative writing class on the campaign payroll.

Obama has an extraodirnaryly large amount of assholes that work for him, wouldn't you say?

That is a positive move!

@Brent: You mean Axelroid?

That's ambiguous, but I think you mean that he likes it over there more than he likes it in the comments here.

Can you imagine why?

That Mark Pocan ad is a real stretch.

First off, it says "character assassination"

Secondly, it's a woman.

Third, she's not holding a rifle or plane tickets (or whatever LHO was holding in his other hand)

Icepick said...

Is assassinating someone's character a felony?

chickelit said...

Can you imagine why?

Too much echo here? I suppose over there it's pretty target rich.

What's hilarious about the Obama ad is it is a graph (of sorts) that shows a correlation between Twitter hash tags.

Twitter.

Quite the established, scientific source, no?

Is there an echo here?

I wouldn't have noticed that if it hadn't been pointed out. I doubt subliminal messaging has much effect on me. Subtlety isn't exactly my stock-in-trade...in case you hadn't noticed.

Well, not for me, but for thee.

W/V, I'm really getting some interesting ones, "Via locke".

If he finds really insightful things to say, some won't be congruent, and that's bad for bedtime.

I don't think six seconds counts as subliminality.

How long were nig pj's on the screen?

chickelit said...

@deborah: 2 seconds? link

chickelit said...

@deborah: Obama got Hillary back with that subliminal bird he flipped.

jungatheart said...

I read speculation somewhere that Althouse was just goofing around with the the nig thing to sabotage Hillary's campaign. Not accusing, just wondering.

jungatheart said...

To clarify, it was said that she admitted to this...

chickelit said...

So Althouse ushered in the age of Obama? That's quite a legacy.

Miss Allie--I am still enamoured of your pet wussy remark in an ealier thread--as a punster myself, I follow this philosophy: a pun is its own reword.

Cheers--

chickelit said...

I saw what you did there briefly Roger J. You flashed a subliminal message at Allie--something about her pet wussy but you got it backwards. Now it's gone so we'll never know.

chickelit said...

@deborah: I didn't mean to be difficult. Sorry.

Roger J. said...

Chicklit--I screwed up my own pun. Didnt mean to leave you hanging.

RogerJ, you old rascal, I bet you want one;) mine is pedigreed.

I hope this goes unnoticed by Meade's deleter tool.

Roger J. said...

Miss Allie--we need tread lightly here lest we be accused of frivolity. We got in big trouble on bloodly Sunday if you recall :)

Roger, shhhh.

I don't think it can be called subliminal if you notice it. It's jusy out and out association. Sorta like calling him a felon...Oh! they tried that already. Nevermind.

Dingy Harry is accusing Romney of not paying taxes for 10 years. Now, he is either lying out his ass because he doesn't know, or he has committed a serious breach in ethics accessing a private citizens tax returns. Either way, you lib's must be proud.

Ends justify the means right?

Carnifex said...

@AllieOop

I don't know if gremlins generate the WV's or some kind of know it all super duper computer, but they can be suspiciously to the point sometimes.

just a guess...the via locke was to keep your pet wussy from straying.

This is Althouse's blog so Meade is basically a 5th wheel on the wagon here.

ok, ok, he'd be a 5th wheel most anywhere he goes. :-P

Staying at a blog longer than 5/6 years requires total devotion, like homeless/clueless edutcher! :)

Straying from the classical liberal ? Me and my pet wussy are social liberals. We can't be Locked up.

Anonymous said...

Shiloh, why are you so hard on Ann and Meade? They provide a good forum for us, have a little gratitude.

Roger J. said...

Riffing off of Allie's comment it seems to me that discussions of the Professor and Meade's relationship is not an appropriate discussion on this blog. Shilo aparently has some boundary issues, but he is, after all, a dork.

shiloh said...

Relax Allie as Althouse/Meade don't pay any notice to my truthful observations.

You will always have a place to post as the blog madame hasn't missed a day in several years. She's obsessed like several of her flock!

If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen!

take care

Shiloh, I like and appreciate your edginess, but sometimes you are simply a meanie, I know you can be a good boy, yet razor sharp, right?

Roger J. said...

shilo--perhaps you should start your own blog rather than being a carbuncle on the ass of a successful blog--of course that would require you to do something rather than snark--Its a terrible thing to go thru life, as Dean Wormer said, fat, dumb and drunk--and in your case stupid.

shiloh said...

Allie, I appreciate your concern. Really.

One of the reasons it's easy for me to leave this site for extended periods is the post below yours ie ad nauseam, childish conservative snark/ad hominems.

But to be fair, the normal discourse at 90/10 con blogs

Anonymous said...

Shiloh, yup, I agree there is much use of ad hominems here and on most political blogs, keep bashing Edutcher, he deserves it :). Good work.

shiloh said...

Allie, when I took a (3) mo. vacation from Althouse earlier this year, do you think edutcher went thru withdrawal symptons? :-P Rhetorical lol.

Anonymous said...

Oh yeah, Ken too, damn don't forget Darrell and not his brother Darrell.

No Shiloh, because his focus was on me then, as a matter of fact, I believe he thinks I am your sockpuppet.

Surely you must be aware of the irony contained in this remark. The irony is intentional, yes?

Well Shilho is a swabbie and you're swabian, so there is that odd coincidence.

jungatheart said...

Yashu, he's not worth the key strokes. As nice a guy as he may be in real life, here he spouts fatuous nonsense which he thinks is cleverness. The worst part is the ever-present emoticons...one can't tell if they're intended to mitigate his criticisms or to further annoy :)

Deine Liebe ist dein Schiff
Deine Sehnsucht ist die Ferne

Allie, political blogging has changed a tad since back in the day, but the self-righteousness of cons who feel they should never lose a presidential election regardless is always somewhat amusing if taken in moderation. My 1st political blog lurked for a couple days and noticed some of the members really didn't like each other lol and thought, hmm, I should fit right in.

Nothing knew under the sun, just the names have changed, both politically and user nics.

Lather, rinse, repeat ...

Think about it for a minute. We still aren't quite sure if we have seen Obama's real birth certificate (at least Sheriff Joe thinks it is a forgery), and clearly have never seen any of his school transcripts. What is he hiding? That he went to school as an African instead of an American? That he got abysmal grades, but still got into and through HLS?

I think that this tax return thing is strategic on the part of Romney. He must have at least 4 years ready to go, and more likely 5-6, since he ran for President 4 years ago, and most likely soon decided after McCain's loss to run again. This whole tax return thing is making the Democrats look sillier and sillier, and more and more corrupt, esp. after Pelosi and Reid have refused to disclose any tax returns, after demanding that Romney disclose 10 years of such. Sure you can find dirt in either, and esp. Reid, who went into politics dirt poor, but is now decently rich, along with his 5 kids. (Hmm - sounds a lot like Sen. Al Gore, Sr., and his son, the infamous former VP by the same name - wonder why all those lifetime Dem politicians get so rich while in office).
