I was at a bar tonight talking about how the Mets are God's practical joke for baseball fans. They're not lovably pathetic like the Cubs (and formerly the Red Sox) they just do things in such a fashion, like being an organization known for pitching never having a no-hitter or having what may have been the best team to play in 50 years (the 86 team) be so wild as to essentially tear itself apart within a year. The bar was playing the Yankees game. I took the hour subway back home, walked in 5 minutes after the Mets game ended (one of about 5 that I didn't see any part of this season) and proved myself right...being a Mets fan is just God playing a practical joke.
Watched the last 2 innings. It's always thrilling. I've been to well over a thousand ML games in my life and I've never seen a no no.
In 1962 the Mets had a paltry fan base and no regional network to broadcast their games. In Ct., where I lived, their games were broadcast on what was then called, "educational tv". Since there were no commercials, you could hear the banter between Kiner and Murphy between innings. It was better than the games from the old, and spooky, Polo Grounds.

The Mets have had some great pitchers: Seaver, Ryan, Gooden, Cone. All threw no-hitters after leaving the Mets,
From the title of this post, I thought it might be about Obama acknowledging that socialism doesn't work.
Who'd the Twins get for him again?

Except it wasn’t. The umpires blew it … again.
penelope, That was a tough call. Umps get an incredible number of calls correctly. They are human.

The Cubs are evolving beyond this point into just simply pathetic.
