Martha Payne, from Argyll, got more than two million hits on her NeverSeconds blog in just a few weeks.Ha ha. You can't keep a blogger down. Even in Scotland. I love when repression backfires.
Argyll and Bute Council said press coverage of the blog had led catering staff to fear for their jobs.
But council leader Roddy McCuish later told the BBC that he had instructed senior officials to lift the ban immediately.
Local MSP Mike Russell, Scotland's education secretary, had written to the council's chief executive in his capacity as local MSP, calling for the "daft" ban to be overturned.
Blog on, Martha!

Perhaps the caterers can copyright their "original creations"? A lunch plate isn't very durable, but neither are many art installations.
"Hey, Teacher! Leave us kid bloggers alone!"
As long as she doesn't try to photograph her Obama fundraiser dinner.
So, Althouse,
we going to get an Althouse Twitter Top 50 Law Twits :) post?

What a great story. As an idiot food photographer (me) I applaud anyone who does the same.
And I also dropped 50 of them British Pound things (what is that, like 4 bucks? or 6 hectares? or 9 shillnigs and sixpence or something?) on her charity which is currently going through the roof!
Yay bloggers!
Not only that, she has been blogging one handed because she has a stookie on her wrist.
Trainspotting killed Scotland for me.
I do understand the fears of the food.. facilitators being graded an f.
If the other "Martha" had any smarts she would have this kid on her show. However, Martha is HORRIBLE w/ kids. I don't like people who don't like kids. I much prefer kids to adults, no bullshit or pretense.
'Stookie' is a marvelous name for a cast.
This made me smile. Thanks!
We watched Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution when it was on. He should talk to O'Keefe to work those stories from another angle :)
"O'Keefe ...should you be caught, Food Revolution will disavow any knowledge of your actions."
Heh.
#NeverSeconds, you are inspiring :)
"I love when repression backfires."
So true!
Seconds on the haggis!

Glad the little girl stuck to her guns.
The next Ann Althouse.
This is what they feed children in Scotland? Explains a lot now.
A local radio station announced that chicken panties are on the menu.

I think some of it looks good, and certainly better than the crap I pay for at our local public school. (which is a very good school system, save for the food.)
School lunches in Scotland. One thinks of gruel seasoned with sheep entrails and stewed tomatoes. However, the lunches she pictured looked edible and sometimes appealing.
I love her blog, it's charming! You know, the catering manager at her school could post comments if s/he felt that the girl was being unfair. A missed opportunity for dialog.
The lunches speak well for the school lunches. The girl herself speaks well the for the school system. She's really terrific, and I think it's possible that the school system has something to do with it.
Did Kimberlien have her served with a protection order yet?
If you don't eat your meat, you can't have any pudding. How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?
They have FOOD in Scotland? :)
Don't mean to sound snarky at the expense of the Scots :-0 |-)
