I had Gemologist and he underperformed. I made a bet for a friend who knows nothing about horses and she put $20 on I'll Have Another, paid her $326! I studied and lost big, she liked the name of the horse and won. C'est la vie.
edutcher, There will never be another Secretariat. This[I'll Have Another] is a good horse, in a field of many good horses..none great, but really 10-12 good ones. The Triple Crown is so difficult w/ the Belmont making sure there are no flukes. That 1 1/2 miles makes sure of that. We got married the day Seattle Slew won the Triple Crown[6/11/77]. As an homage to my old man, the ceremony was before the Belmont and the reception after the race. It wasn't a big deal but he was genuinely touched. And, everyone got to watch history.

Althouse subbing at Insta is the same thing that happens when Yul Brynner needs a little help and Charlie Bronson and Jim Coburn show up.
PS Saw the race (been watching them since I was about 8) and that was a great finish.
Do we have another Secretariat?
