Puppies... of the Bedlington terrier kind.
I left in the voices in the background — one of which is Meade's — to highlight the quietness of the puppies. All that romping, and not a yap.

Yip!
That type of playing, done by all young of virtually every species, including homo sapiens; is not allowed on the mommy controlled public school grounds in the US.
Uh oh.
Bedlington's are nice dogs, long lived, a bit reserved as terriers go in my experience. Well adapted to house/car/quiet.
We actually ended up with a miniature Australian Labradoodle @ 25lbs. A big dog in a small body, great with kids, pretty respectful of the house, and certainly more trainable than we've made him be.
I swore I'd never live in a house without a dog in it and it was a long 8 years....

I'm headed up north fishing this weekend and my dog sitter bailed on me last minute. Ugh.

Me too...well not the dog sitter part. Should be an awesome opener...early ice out so the walleyes have recovered, mid-60's, light wind, full moon. Hazelhurst, just south of Minocqua.

You fishing Tomahawk? I heard possible rain yesterday, today just cloudy.
"Uh oh."
No, we're not getting a puppy. We're into borrowing other people's dogs. Like yours!

A dog sitter? Don't they have kennels in Wisconsin?

I would think he would take him with...
(Poppy the puppy will be eleven months old next week!)
I'm guessing the other voice is our friend Sunny, who does yap a lot. (smiley face)
Why are puppies and babies so adorable?
BTW have you all seen Puppy Easter?

Nope. I have a home on Lee Lake. If you know where the "T-Bird Country" viaduct is...right there off 51 to the west (and if you aren't, you hardly are a northwoodsman!) I'm headed up Friday morning..of course no fishing until Saturday. My lake is 70 acres, no public access, so the fishing is great. Walleye, SM/LM bass, some perch, and panfish. No gas motors so nice and quiet and peaceful. I'll probably be the only boat on the lake. You'd dig it.
Bring the dog.
Cute but also consider rescue dogs.
Here is a unique pair

I'm going to be about a half hour or so away fishing Crawling Stone on the Fence Chain in Lac Du Flambeau on Saturday. We're having a birthday party for my mom in Rhinelander on Sunday, not sure I would have time to swing up to your place. You ever rent your place out for the weekend?
Bedlingtons are said to be among the most loyal and suicidally brave of all dogs. They may not have the menacing appearance of a pit bull or Rottie, but they will fight to the death to protect their master. The downside is they don't do well with other dogs (or humans) competing for their master's affections. If you're a one-dog man looking for a one-man dog, you can scarcely do better. Or so I'm told. Never actually owned one.

Not really. I have on occasion but there are so few weekends, my schedule is variable so I make a lot of last second decisions on going up, and there is not much money in it and a lot of downside. Let me know whn you go up, maybe we can wet a line sometime.

Probably not this weekend as we have a group but definitely let you know when later this year.
So damned cute.
garage, if you can't find anyone, email me - I might be able to dog sit for you.
Oh, and Irene, no puppy could ever, in our hearts, replace Poppy. I'm sure you know.
Thanks, Meade. She loves you, too.

Would be all day Friday, until Sunday dinnertime. Sure you're up to that? (he's a champ, a little rambunctious though)
Does "all day" mean "in the constant company of" - 24/7? Sorry, can't' do it.
You people are going off on meaningless tangents. Let's make this post relevant again. I'll start: I hope Romney gets those pups strapped to his car before Obama finds them and eats them.
@garage:
Surely he would love to come with you. Or is it that he would jump in and interfere somewhat (Ha!) with the fishing?

yah. Lot to ask. Appreciate the offer to help though.
Puppies that small don't yap much. Hudson and Morstan, and, before them, Quantum and Quicksilver were very quiet when they were little.

Denial.
It's where Alexandria is.
My most favorite thing to do with puppies, or dogs, is to walk them across campus. Dog-starved students will flock to you. Of course, this only works with tolerant dogs (which is why I can't do it with the dog we now own, the little basket case).
Garage's predicament reminds me why I don't have a dog. It's hard enough scheduling with kids, so by Allah I sure don't need that added aggravation.
MadisonMan is seeking a chick magnet dog. My golden retriever, who we put down in January, was a huge chick magnet. My son learned that early on in his life. Chicks dig the long ball and Golden Retrievers.
MadisonMan, that's why one of our dogs, Baci, earned the nickname, "B.M.O.C."
MadMan, ndspinelli is right. Not only are Goldens chick magnets, but they are as happy and friendly a dog as you will ever meet.
I always thought of myself as a cat person until we got this mutt.
They look like great pups -- healthy, active, curious, and well-adjusted. I'd get one.
Bedlington Terrier?
Hmmm. Look at Welsh Terriers.
Cutest. Dog. Ever.
Just keep it way from a State Dinner at the White House.
"Bedlington Terrier?"
They are definitely Bedlington Terriers. You see the mother walk by at one point.
They turn white when they grow up.
