New Daily Kos/PPP poll: Walker 50%, Barrett 45%.

Likely voters. That's exactly the same as a month ago.

And in the Senate race: "Democrat Tammy Baldwin down 4-5 points against all comers (45-41 vs. Eric Hovde, 46-42 vs. Mark Neumann, and 47-42 vs. Tommy Thompson)."

Hmmm,

No info on sample composition, but, otherwise, it looks honest.

It's gotta be killing the KosKidz.

Maybe Slime Mold is also be voting for Walker now. Walker and Slime Mold both seek out solutions on supplying the most efficient nutrients to the Wisconsin body politic.

C'mon Althouse.. we all know Daily Kos is a Republican tentacle with a direct line to the Walker Bunker ;)

It would be a huge surprise to see Wisconsin go for the Republicans again this year.

Walker seems to be doing some major good for that State. Maybe he is having an effect on the rest of the polling?

Lem Vibe Bandit said...

Obviously turn out will be paramount.. So, how do you get potential Walker voters not to come out?

You tell them that Walker is a lock.. slam dunk.. a sure thing.

Its not bad strategery when you are down so much.

Lem Vibe Bandit said...

Of course there is the danger that some of your own people may hear the massage the way you don't want them to and become discouraged.

However that danger is mitigated by the expectation that the challengers are energised.. and so over their skis.. there is literally nothing anybody can say that will discourage them away from the polls.

I mean, voting Hitler out of office is king of important over there.. nudge nudge.

Sorun said...

Oh no! What we need is more singing at the Capitol!

Lem Vibe Bandit said...

Can you vote a king out of office?

I meant kind..

Lem Vibe Bandit said...

Its kingly.. supremely.. important.

This thing is a long way from being over. Conservatives need to vote massively on June 5th.

But I will admit there has been a comforting trend of Walker yard signs popping up the past three weeks like May flowers in bloom.

Question for the group. Has the DNC pulled out of Wisconsin or are they staying in? Conflicting stories on this tonight via Breitbart and WaPo. Breitbart says out, WaPo says Debbie Wasserman Schultz to bring bag of money to Barrett sometime in the next week or two.

Net week or two is too late.

Tammy's gonna be licked!

MoveOn.org is apparently reporting that the DNC isn't going to put any money into the WI recall. Was this always the case or does this constitute one of Gaffe Biden's Big Fucking Deals?

According to this poll Barrett is up +7 with independents, and +26 with moderates. It also has a +7 oversampling for republicans. If this poll is correct, if Democrats show up and vote there will be a giant party for the good guys in just a few short weeks!

Good guys are people that haven't hired mob lawyers from Chicago to defend them. Does Barrett have mob lawyers? No!

And, there is a reason walker is going to release a bogus jobs report tomorrow, using metrics no other state uses. Because he knows he is in t-r-o-u-b-l-e!

Tom Spaulding said...

And we know you are in d-e-n-i-a-l!!

The DNC, smelling blood in the water... folds it's union-made tent.

What a farce.

Petunia said...

Does Tom Barrett have a corrupt DA staging a multi-year witch hunt against him? No!

My hunch is that if Kathleen Falk had won, or if Russ Feingold had run and won, the DNC and the unions would be pouring money into this state so fast we'd be buried. But Falk, the unions' preferred candidate/puppet, lost incredibly badly...she even lost her home district...and Barrett can't campaign on union issues because he's used Walker's reforms to save millions of $$$ in Milwaukee.

And he certainly can't campaign on what a good job he's done as Milwaukee mayor, because he's been a disaster. So the DNC and unions may try to cut and run...like the fleeing senators did last year.

GM is right. Barrett does not need Chicago mob lawyers. He is already BFF's with their godfather, Rahm.

How pitiful things have become for the Democrat union thugs in Wisconsin. All that money thrown down the rathole, only to see Walker and his policies not only survive, but thrive, validation of the very thing they most despise.

Oh, the gall that must be building up, the bitterness and disappointment. I expect them to begin violently lashing out like some wounded animal that knows its days are numbered.

Chef Mojo said...

Cool. Intrade has Walker winning at 80%.

You guys could use a good ear lowering and wallet trimming, good adjustments for Spring.

While you're thinking about how short your haircut should go how about this considering this crossword theme? It's already solved. The guy who wrote it is erudite and a little bit twisted. The title is 'universal donor' and that suggests blood, dunnit. But not necessarily. The three main entries are the following and the question is what do they have in common that would have to do with universal donor?

FIRST CLASS COIN
BRINGING UP BOY
HAS THE GIFT OF GO

The clues are very strange designed to arrive at those answers, or more, for those answers to be fair. They discourage and mislead as much as encourage and assist, but they must be fair. What about blood have they in common?

Time's up.

The answer is letter substitutions O for AB. The last one is the most obvious, should be gift of gab.

Chief Mojo's brief comment is more suggestive of the outcome than a poll. On intrade, people have to invest actual money to register their opinions about who will win. Since early May, the intrade price has gone from just over $50 (spend $53 to win $100 if Walker wins) to over $80 (spend $81 to win $100 if Walker wins). In terms of odds, the odds two weeks ago were about one-to-one; now they are four-to-one.

THis is not the same as a poll: intrade is not predicting that Walker will win 80% of the vote; only that he has an 80% chance of winning at least 50% of the vote.

The internals seem a bit quirky, so I 'm waiting to see a few more polls before I start to feel certain about the election's outcome.

That said the fact that it was done by Kos/PPP suggests that whatever their reasoning it probably wasn't done to help Walker.

If that were true, my husband who is a SBO & I would have a retirement income of $75k/yr like the recently retired teacher my friend knows.

We won't be that lucky.

They are married teachers so their retirement income is $150k/yr.

There's your nice "middle class" income.

Who said they're uninsured?

Yes!

Because contributing 12% to your retirement and 15% to your medical benefits while making a higher than average salary than private sector counterparts is like so middle classs!

Idiot.

Workers of the world unite! Via The Belmont Club:

London: New French President Francois Hollande has three houses in the French Riviera, despite claiming that he “dislikes the rich”.

...To the undoubted embarrassment to the most left-wing leader in Europe and a man who styles himself as “Mr Normal”, they are valued at almost GBP 1 million.

It will also reinforce accusations that Hollande is a “Gauche Caviar”, or “Left-Wing Caviar” - the Gallic equivalent of a Champagne Socialist....

I think of the Cagney movie 1..2...3..., no fur coat for you until all have fur coats - or 3 houses in Cannes!

Hollande is described by the Guardian as ” a moderate, jovial, moped-riding Joe Average”. But in addition to Trierweiler, who is quite an eyeful, is quite able to nominate his wife — they are still married – Segolene Royale — yet another eyeful — to his cabinet, making her the “most powerful woman in France”.

I was surprised to see so many Walker signs and so few of Barrett's on my drive up through the northern tier of Barron, Sawyer, Washburn counties this weekend. We all know how garage and his cossetted Capital friends will vote and we all know how Curious George and his Waukesha friends will vote, but these kind of swing, on-the-fence counties will be the difference, and as far as I can see it's not looking good for Barrett.
