What Pastafarian said. Obama's very cunning. But not nearly as intelligent as he and his supporters think he is. And he certainly can't take being told he's not as wonderful as he thinks he is.
@MARINER: please, sit right down, get comfortable, take your shoes off, put your feet up, and have this nice, steaming hot cup of STFU.
It's morons like you who help the "despair merchants" of this world succeed because we judge them as way, way, way, smarter than the great majority of us who know a delusional fraud when we see one.

He is confident because he is surrounded by people who adore him and being bad at math, he doesn't realize that they are not enough to get him re-elected.

We were both laughing at this one last evening. That freshman student does pretty good work, and his Obama mash-ups are improving.
I'm no psychologist, but I'd say it's the fact that he's never been told that he's not that bright, not that good looking, and not much of a singer.
He's been showered with praise for his whole life. I don't consider what such a person like that then exhibits to be confidence, as much as arrogance.
What makes Obama so confident?
It's win-win because he hit the jackpot - the Mega Millions of politics.
His supporters, by and large, being mentally incompetent is helpful.
Yeah, people have been kissing his ass his whole life.
See also Robert Morse's serenade to himself, "I Believe in You," in "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" (1961).
RASCIST!!!
but funny
If he was that confident, he wouldn't be risking a replay of the race riots of the '60s this summer by ginning up the Trayvon Martin thing.
Particularly after the failure of L'Affaire Fluck.

If you smellllllll what Barack is cooking!
He's confident because he knows the game is rigged in favor of Democrats.
It won't matter who votes, as long as Democrats count the votes in enough big cities.
"What makes Obama so confident?"
He doesn't know any better. Very common before the fail.

Cluelessness?
Ignorance is bliss. We'll see what he'll be singing next November. I predict lyrics like "boo hoo" and "wahhhh!"

He got elected after promising "under my plan of cap and trade electricity costs will necessarily skyrocket"
He's Teflon and he knows it.
