Muskrat Sunset — the video.

This evening, on Lake Wingra, in case the stills weren't enough. It really was sublime! Sublime... with a muskrat.

I notice MFC has opened after their winter hibernation. Haven't made the trek down however.

Last weekend I bought a SUP, so maybe, some day, I'll be in the background trying to maneuver my SUP on Wingra.

Beautiful stretch of weather. Gonna be some sad plants when reality returns however. And I think this has torpedoed the syrup season.

How do you know that wasn't a beaver? Hehehe...beaver.

I don't know what either MFC or SUP mean!

Michael's Frozen Custard!!! They closed this winter for the first time ever, I think, but have now re-opened.

SUP = Stand-Up Paddleboard.

Have you found the boardwalks along the Edgewood park and pleasure drive?

Stand-Up Paddleboard.

Oh! Yes, I was just saying I want to learn that this summer. I did the kayaks 2 summers ago, and Meade did the paddle board.

It's especially nice on Wingra because you can get out in the middle of the lake and jump in for a swim. The lake is spring fed and the cleanest, freshest lake in Madison.

Yes. Somewhere in the blog are photos of it. Very lovely!

Althouse, have you lost your irrational fear of drowning?

I learned that Personal Floatation Devices are required if you are using as SUP. At least that's what they told me at Rutabaga, and I'm assuming they didn't just say that to sell me something

Sorry, for my own sanity I will not click any video embed or link with the word Muskrat in the title.

I found the kind that come with a little Co2 bottle attached to be the least restrictive. I've worn one on the water ever since the immersion incident in November of 2008. Let me tell you. Looking up at the beautiful November night sky through four feet of crystal clear cold river water is an experience not to be repeated.

You can look at that and imagine the sigh of relief from the Indians and trappers that the long winter was over.

Absolutely splendid. I half expected Ann to start cooing, "Muskrat Love".

So can we look forward to Althouse, the Swimsuit Edition?
