It's those damn Religious Bowl Games complete with Greek Chorus, Vestal Virgins, musical Bands and scepter wielding Drum Majors playing triumphantly for armored boys running around a cow pasture.
Do you think it possible that someone like Steve Martin would ever say something funny about the wretched excesses of militant atheists? The dogs that don't bark and the jokes that aren't made.
Don't sweat it. Pretty soon crack will be in here shilling for his blog, and then we'll have a blog entry linked in a comment to a blog entry discussing a tweet. Tweet that and I'm sure we'll break a part of the internet.
It's a just war. After all, it is not a Jewish new year, a Muslim new year, a Hindu new year, it's a Christian new year based on a calendar commissioned by a pope.
What's with the career death wish of all these Hollywood stars always dissing half there audience? More than half really. The movie industry is dying in no small part to the fact that all these so-called stars are pissing off the people who pay to see them.
Somehow the image of Steve Martin as a claymation villain in a Rankin/Bass TV special battling the holidays one at a time just popped into my head. I'd bet a shiny new quarter that he's already pitched it. (If I was Mitt, I'd bet $10,000.)

That's a good catch. Increasingly, I've noticed, a lot of people these days feel nervous about saying "Christmas" in public. They feel it's like referring to blacks as "colored," something no right-thinking person would do.
Funny how Steve never tweets jokes about the absurd use of the word "Holiday" for Christmas. Or how funny left-wing political correctness is.
Reminds me of when Stewart - mister lets puncture pomposity and hypocrisy - refused to satirize Dan Rather during "Fontgate". 'Cause there was nothing funny about Mr Dan the Reporter Man, Lucy Ramirez and documents that couldn't exist.
Planes, Trains and Automobiles was a great movie because of John Candy. Watch it again and try to imagine anyone other than John Candy, and you'll see that Martin's performance is only good. Candy, though, is the heart of the movie.
Martin's performance in Parenthood is much the same. He makes faces and that is to pass for funny.

Actually, given the origins and orientation of political correctness, I think you meant 'something no LEFT-thinking person would do...'
Do you think it possible that someone like Steve Martin would ever say something funny about the wretched excesses of militant atheists?
And what would that funny joke be?

Do yo follow his twitter account 24/7? Do you know he hasn't? I do recall he has had a few riffs on political correctness over the years, including a bit in the Steve Martin penned movie "Bowfinger" w/ Eddie Murphy.
What goes around . . . . Early Steve was funny, hilarious at times, making fun of the status quo; all those total rectangles who just didn't get it. Then he, and a great many of his colleagues, became status quo. Unlike their old-school targets they are tragically oblivious to how unhip, uncool, and unfunny they are. At least my old man knew when he was being mocked, and was capable of a vicious, blistering comeback (when he could be bothered). This sad tweet is just an echo of the marching orders from the status quo.

So it's come to this? You're blogging tweets?
Steve of course means "the Holiday2"
Funny sign at my library:
"Hanukkah and Holiday Songs"
No need, Steve...Rotten Tomatoes has already opened that front: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/new_years_eve_2011/
"So it's come to this? You're blogging tweets?"
So it's come to this? You're commenting on a blog about the source material of the blog being a tweet?

"So it's come to this? You're commenting on a blog about the source material of the blog being a tweet?"
And you're commenting on a comment about blogging on tweets?
Oh, regression thou art infinite....
wv:Nukier (for when a couple o' nukes are not enough!)
Oh yeah, that Steve is a wild and crazy guy.
And you're commenting on a comment about blogging on tweets?
If only I had a twitter account to tweet about this.

Hey, I do! So I will...
"So it's come to this? You're blogging tweets?"
Anthony Weiner, is that you?
Oh yeah, that Steve is a wild and crazy guy.
Hasn't been for 40 years...or funny.
I've already tweeted about it. Now to retweet Ron's tweet about his comment on Althouse's comment about my comment on the source of her blogpost.
You ever notice that the atheists never declare war on SAINT Valentine's Day? Ya notice, huh!!
That's because if they did, they'd be getting even less pussy than they are now.
"Happy Holiday's!"
..."yea, but it's Christmas. Why don't you just say 'Merry Christmas'?"
"Well, because there are two holidays...Christmas and New Years...'tis the season"
One week later....
"Happy New Year!"
"er...you mean 'Happy holiday's', right?"
"No, that was last week--this is New Years!!"
I've already tweeted about it. Now to retweet Ron's tweet about his comment on Althouse's comment about my comment on the source of her blogpost.
Is there something beyond Meta?

Yes, Homina, Homina, Homina.
His tweet is funny. At least I found it so.

But, will he join the war on Valentine's Day? That takes real courage.

Martin was great in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, which I watched a couple nights ago.
Damn, that movie is funny.

Professor Althouse practicing sarcasm. Being a lady, she is out of practice. Being a lawyer, she is too practiced.
@ Ron
Besides you and me, does anyone else recognize Ralph Cramdens catch phrase?
Bang, zoom, to the moon!
It must take balls to take a stand against something you don't believe in.
"It must take balls to take a stand against something you don't believe in."
It certainly shows tolerance.

The War on Christmas is a lot like the War on Poverty.
The objective isn't to win it, but to wage it.
It's a joke, you doofs.
Vicki from Pasadena
The Mayan End Times Prophecy is gonna get ya, Steve.
"It's a joke, you doofs.'
Yep, just a harmless joke folks. Just a funny Jack Benny kinda joke. A Steve martin arrow-though-his-head kinda joke. Haha says Aunt Mabel.
But not like a cultural/political joke like the kind Colbert, Stewart or Bill Maher make though.
Yeah, right.

Hey, all those Christians being killed and churches destroyed in the Middle East and Northern Africa ... wild and crazy ... haha.
It's the best part of the Arab Spring.
Kill the Christians.
LOL.
Who they gonna kill on New Years Day? Christians, of course. More funny haha.

Just sayin'

On my third day of Christmas today... still visiting relatives and enjoying the splurge of leftovers.

It's more useful than Facebook.
