It's a shame they choose that quote. Normally, you make rational opinions on each argument and I hate to see such a partisan, generalized comment get choosen. The language used belies the point and forecloses reaching anyone "on the left" and it instead lends your credibility and respectability to shouting and name calling.
Sorry to be the rain cloud, and congrats on the selection.
Very good quote by you! Dead on. John Stuart Mill argues that unless a person arrives at their thought honestly through true discussion and argument, they don't really hold the opinion at all, and I suspect this is the case with leftist scumbags. If you're compelled to agree you haven't really agreed, or even thought about the topic at hand. This is why the leftists can't handle anyone jostling their thought-prison. It threatens to have them all break out into liberty and genius. Can't have that. Discipline the masses! Crush the individual! In its most extreme form you get a hundred thousand people in giant squares in Pyongyang expressing their collective sorrow. The left is a sick joke to anyone who isn't of it.

Ann's comment was a great one. I also like Kaus's at 37:
(He) doesn’t go into why Obama managed to get to the top of politics without being all that good at it. The answer is distressingly obvious: Obama’s the biggest affirmative action baby in history. When other pols are trying, failing, learning, while climbing up the middle rungs of the ladder, he got a pass.
Does that make Chelsea Clinton the Barack Obama of Broadcasting?
Congrats on the ridiculous quote. The more I read this blog these days, the more I mourn then thoughtful person you used to be. Please never express unhappiness by being portrayed as a single-note conservative again. I didn't know you said that quote, and I'm extremely disappointed by its polemical and melodramatic tone. And frankly, it befits one of your commenters, not a tenured law professor. I'm really disappointed as someone who has read your blog for a long time--you've jumped the shark, I think.
It was a rather odd quote, though. It's not really complete in context. The outrage at the terroristic tea party and Palin's unthoughtful inciting of crazy people of the entirely opposite political persuasion to shoot pretty Democrats, and the bogus calls for love, peace, and civility, (in other words "shut up!"), have melted from the cultural memory like it never ever happened.
Instead of being alarmed that intemperate talk of fiscal responsibility is going to destroy the fabric of society, we're now supposed be full of warm fuzzies because so many people care enough to get out there and be heard.
And doesn't the incoherence prove Althouse's point that the left simply doesn't know how to have a discussion about anything? The OWS dears are darling because of their emotion and involvement, nothing more. It's a nationwide participation trophy.
The Tea Party, a bunch of middle aged ladies in denim jumpers and flag applique sweat-suits, was such a terrible threat that counter protestors had to shout them down and drown them out...
Who counterprotests OWS? Who would bother? They aren't SAYING anything.
Trying to reach leftists is like trying to reach Kim Jong Il. He's been dead for like forty years, and we were just waiting for him to stop killing others.
Wow, Newt Gingrich (#2) is an idiot. Not taking in OWS age group at all when he knows full well that generation has been mortgaged down to their grandchildren to pay for his and his generation's fat asses.

I'd say #47 is better than #4 because of the way they're listed. #4 will get a lot fewer reads.
"Hey, #47 is from me."
Incoming!!!
Well, I guess this finally proves you're a right winger. (Along with Michael Moore and Bill Clinton, who also made the list.)

Most of those quotes are too long to be remembered. So as a best quote, they're not good as they are not reproducible.

And if you want to know why I said what I said, see also: Kirby's entire post.
Impressive :)
The leftists at Mozilla plastered a browser message right across your quote.

MadMan's right. The good quotes, whether the fit one's particular political pistol, are 8, 12, and 19.
Brevity really is the soul of wit.
Consider, "Go ahead, make my day".
Darn good quote. I must have missed it the first time.

Congrats. I think you've got some better quotes. I liked "Sister" the other day.
Progressives do suck at arguing, Ann. To wit: see Hairy Potter on her rift with you the other day.
Things I missed while on sabbatical. Belatedly, I join #47 in full and in forma specifica.
And you! A law professor!
;-)

Well, it won't make Bartlett's. It's OK, but I, myself, will long remember your pithy comments regarding panda fucking.

I think Ronnie Bryant's should be higher on the list.
It's way too long, not really a quote, but it is damning as to the current state of this country and how it operates.
